Er, 3/0 divine shield I mean.
Well yeah, just as Seal of Champions is just Blessing of Might (1 mana +3 attack) and Hand of Protection (1 mana +divine shield) and then +1 mana because the effects are combined. So I guess...it's a 2 mana 1/4 taunt. Which means...R.I.P Silverback
Except this requires two cards (or a hero power) to activate, unlike New Challenger. On the flip side, it’s “fast” meaning you can use it immediately if applied to an existing minion.
I dunno, seems fair but fair doesn’t cut it these days. Spikeridged was better due to the two bodies and double taunts.
still kinda prefer the steed, just because of second body
Spikeridged Steed remains as paladin best buff in the game
While I feel the comparison to Spikeridged Steed is a fair one, I think when it's compared to "A New Challenger...", it's fairly good. Your stats are guaranteed, and it comes down a turn earlier.
I want to play a less OTK version of Shirvallah and value tempo cards like this are great. Oh no new archtypes let me flame everyone! This will fight aggro good enough for me.
Nobody has commented on the artwork yet - I was thinking it looks very strange to other cards, its very 3D/CGI, kinda odd.
I think it's got more of a "realistic-ish" artstyle, something closer to, say, Elder Scrolls: Legends than Hearthstone. It does stand out as weird, but as someone that is not really a big fan of the overly cartoonish I can appreciate it as variety within the HS artstyle.
Which is also why I liked several of the changed artworks but that's besides the point.
Not broken enough like Spikeridged Steed was. Great arena card tho.
im gunna get flamed, buuuut Wasteland Assassin turn 5 --> turn 6 Pharaoh's Blessing might actually work.
I could see this being much better at 5 mana but I can't help but wonder if it's not because of Baku :/
This expansions spikeridged steed. Will see play.
1 less health than [card ]Sunwalker[/card], 2 more mana than [card ]Blessing of Kings[/card] for divine shield and taunt. Seems very expensive.
It would have been great, if it was 5 mana.
Blessing of Kings is 4 mana give a minion +4/+4. Are you saying that for just 1 extra mana, a card should give both taunt and divine shield? That would be op as hell
Pharaoh's Blessing is a perfectly balanced card. But I do agree that it could be better. I'd much prefer to pay 5 mana for it, if it gave a minion +3/+3 instead of +4/+4.
Taunt and divine shield arent worth 2 mana
If there were a card out there that gave a minion Divine Shield and Taunt it would cost 2 mana, at 1 mana would be broken. I actually think taunt alone is worth like .5 mana, but together I think it has to be 2
It wouldn't be op. It might be dominant in standard, but would just be average in Wild.
The Vanilla Value of Buffs is -1 from the value of minions. Therefore +4/+4 is 4 Mana.
Divine Shield is worth 0.5 Mana on good cards. Taunt is worth 0 Mana on good cards.
So for this to be a good card in Standard and an average card in Wild, it should cost 5 Mana.
Taunt and Divine Shield are worth about 1.5 mana. This card is worth 5.5 mana. As a class card with that high of a cost, they should have rounded down or added something else worth 0.5 to 1 mana.
A spell that gives Taunt and Divine Shield would cost 2 mana, but would also be considered over-costed and not played. Paladins already have a 1 mana spell that gives Divine Shield and it is not played. That is because the card is over-costed even at 1 mana. They made a 2 mana version that also drew a card, and that saw some play in certain decks.
A more playable card would be a 3 mana 2/2 minion that gives a minion Taunt and Divine Shield. A 2/2 minion for 1.5 mana able to give Taunt and Divine Shield for another 1.5 mana.
Rounding down, means the card could see standalone play. Rounding up means the card won't see play unless its needed to combo or synergize with a more useful card.
