Correct, because Toxmonger requires you to play the 1-cost minion, not just to summon it.
Biggest problem is that 3 drops in hunter are pretty good
Locust are beasts? if so this has some other uses as buffing hyenas and that type of stuff which is quite good
At first glance, seems very bad. Then I realize:
- it's actually a 2/3 for 3 mana (against the board)
- it can split damage across multiple minions
- Enables beast synergies
- effectively has "overkill summon a 1/1 beast with rush" (if you think of it as a 2-attack weapon)
It's main downside is that it's not great at going face (but even then, can squeak out some face damage in a pinch)
might even be OP...
Too slow, your opponent plays a 3 or 4 health minion and you can't answer it with this. Later on in the game its probably worse, maybe playable when hunters mark was 1 mana.
This and the fact the 3 mana slot it so competitive in Hunter means the chance of this seeing play is pretty non existent.
locust launcher
Pretty decent against token decks... Clean up a few wisps
You get a spear, you get a spear, everyone gets a spear!
Its like a shittier Muster for Battle
(So probably still good)
Will see play through generation as opposed to being put in decks.
Decent card, but too slow, unlikely to see play. 3 mana for 3 1/1s and a 1/3 weapon is good, but when you consider that all you're getting on the turn you're spending 3 mana on this is a 1 attack weapon and a 1/1 with rush, that's a really slow effect.
You'll often get this from random effects like Hunter's Pack however, and be pretty happy when you do.
This is actually such a good card, it has so much potential. It can be used to help clear wide early game boards with hunters already great early game control. It can be used to trigger Kill Command when you may have an empty board. Even though it's a control looking card, I think this could very easily fit into some sort of pure face deck
Better version of Piranha Launcher. I'm sold.
That's really not saying much tbh
It's basically a 3-mana 2/3 but slightly better against boards/slightly worse against face
Hunter's Pack nerf
Is it, though?
The Hunter's Pack weapon pool is: Eaglehorn Bow, Headhunter's Hatchet, Gladiator's Longbow, and this. This is worse than Eaglehorn Bow, since Hunter's Pack also provides a secret. It's somewhat similar to Headhunter's Hatchet, they're both "sort of" 2/3 weapons, and I can imagine situations where either one is better than the other. Gladiator's Longbow is very powerful, but it's also very expensive, and that matters. Early game, GLB can clog the hand. Late game, Desert Spear can more easily be played along with other stuff.
I can go either way as to whether the Hunter's Pack pool would be better with or without this.
No smorc no play
