The more cards they release the more i think this set was for Wild and not standard. Almost every card has some way in which it will effect the wild meta.
Oh my.. who'd ever know they turn Reno into a boring meme card
Should be 30 to match the original Reno
Sure, it's simple, but it is also incredibly powerful. 4 6 is great 4 mana drop, and splitting 10 dmg is more than 3 arcane missles, so we have good play for 7 mana, but this cost less and it's one card. And it can't go face which is great
It is a good card if you leave out the restriction. Hard to evaluate but I think mage does not have enough good cards to fill a singelton deck confidently.
If you took away the deck building restriction of this card it would still be marginal at best.
Ok, i'm talking about wild, because it doesn't make much sense in wild for now
I even hit legend with reno mage, so i already love this card
Thing is this is in the worst possible class for this effect. Its a mediocre effect anyway, but mage is the king of removal. Flamestrikes and blizzards for wide boards, polymorph for big minions, fireballs for medium minions. You are best running 2 of each of them instead of 1 of each plus a reno.
If it was in a class like, say, rogue, who struggles with wide boards, or druids who lack large removal, this would be decent as a tech for those exact situations. But mage any viability is completely lost, assuming it had viability in the first place.
Yeah i'm having a hard time seeing a Mage gimp their deck to play this card.
If only this deals damage to the face
It'd likely be worse if it went face. It would give it some utility as burn, but single-ton is typically a control style deck, even without OG reno
much more fun and ways of use,mate...hehehehe (aggro mage)
Meteorologist, it's not Legendary, but it can deal up to 9 damage and also can hit the hero. And no need deck without duplicate.
Being able to go face is a big negative of meteorologist when it comes to being defensive. Reno helps get you to your main reno or jiana. This doesn't push renomage much, but it's undoubtedly a good card in the deck.
If wild wasnt in a complete stranglehold by ress priest, this might have gotten me excited, but I guess Blizz doesnt want my money so they keep wild broken AF.
I actually hate Warlocks who cast infinite SN1P-SN4Ps more than Big Priest. And now Big Priest has to worry about Plague of Murlocs. That all said, Bomb Warrior will screw most of these Reno cards in Standard. As Bomb Warriors are far less common in Wild these new Reno cards are likely to see more play. Especially since the larger card pool in Wild makes Reno decks far more potent. This will definitely fit in my Mage Even Reno deck along with Kazakus and Reno Jackson himself.
Sincerely that of not having duplicate cards in standard there is not much incentive to play them unless they print more cards of not having duplicate cards that are quite useful
I always wanted to see Mage with a more board control centric Avenging Wrath + 2 damage to it oh and a 5-cost minion body (4/6) attached to it. Just what Mage needed...
Definitely don't get the hate - maybe because of the card's pedigree? OG Reno is a sick, sick card and of course it's hard not to compare. But think of it this way - what if his battlecry was "If your deck has no duplicates, destroy all enemy minions"? Because 10 damage is A LOT, and often he is going to be that 50% percent of the time and not be far off the rest of the time.
The problem is that currently there aren't enough good mage spells to actually build a Reno-style deck and utilize Raid the Sky Temple, which means there aren't enough good mage cards in general for singleton. But I still think he's going to be pretty good in Wild, and eventually this winter after Standard is big enough might even get some fringe play in.
