Hey everyone!
We're adding a new Card Spotlight series where we'll be showcasing interesting interactions with new cards!
For our first post we're featuring BEEEES!!!!
If you think of any interesting plays we missed, or have feedback on the format, please share your opinions in the comment section!
Overkill
- Overkill minions seem to work on your turn even if they didn't actually attack, as long as any other minion attacked them.
- Mark McKz made a cool video using this technique, to watch the interaction Click Here.
- Peter Whalen also responded quickly on this highly discussed topic, confirming the functionality. [S]
- HS_Liv responded about overkill interactions filling up your board space and the result is that if you have only 1 minion on your side of a board, you will end up summoning minions up to 2, because the bees will die after every single one attacks. [S]
2,563 Armor Druid - Wild!
Requirements: 6 cards, 2 turns
- Play Emperor Thaurissan while holding 1x Linecracker, 2x Earthen Scales, 2x BEEEES!!!.

- Cast double Earthen Scales on him.
- Gain 2,563 armor!
OTK Druid - Standard!
Requirements: 2 cards, 2 turns
- Play Linecracker, pray that your opponent can't remove it and pass.

Scavenger Interaction - Standard!
Requirements: 2 cards, 1 turn
- Play Half-Time Scavenger and cast BEEEES!!! on her.
- Gain 12 armor + Half-Time Scavenger will still be in stealth so at the end, you might get 15 armor and kill a small minion.
Big Beasts 1 - Standard!
Requirements: 2 cards, 1 turn
- Play Ironhide Direhorn and cast BEEEES!!! on him.
- Summon 2x 5/5 Ironhide Runt!
Big Beasts 2 - Standard!
Requirements: ???

- Play Witching Hour and cast BEEEES!!! on her.
- Summon up to 3 Beast from your hand! (If you attack with Oondasta and overkill an opponent minion.)
- (Don't forget that 1/1 Bees are beasts too, so you need to wait for the combo!)
Big Beasts - Wild!
Requirements: 3 Cards 2 Turns
- Play Emperor Thaurissan, while holding Oondasta and 1x BEEEES!!!.
- Play Oondasta and cast BEEEES!!! on her.
- Summon up to 3 Beast from your hand! (If you attack with Oondasta and overkill an opponent minion.)
Card Draw!
- Play Ticket Scalper and cast BEEEES!!! on her.
- Draw 6 cards!
Damage Surviving Cards!
- Mech-Bear-Cat is just a meme, but otherwise you could try comboing it with spare parts and Gazlowe.
- Acolyte of Pain is just a draw 3 and summon 1/1 Bee for 6 mana.
- Underbelly Ooze Is just a meme card, because you would end up with just a 3/1 Ooze, 3/3 Ooze, 3/4 Ooze.
- Dragon Egg could be interesting in token based decks as you would summon a 2x 2/1 Whelps and 4 Bees.
- Hogger, Doom of Elwynn is another meme, because Spreading Plague is just better.
-
Gurubashi Berserker could be also interesting in that Linecracker deck as another possible win condition.
Working With Summoning Cards!
- Knight of the Wild is interesting, because you can play the BEEEES!!! on turn 2 with Coin and after that, you have a 6/6 follow up.
- Knife Juggler is probably must have in this type of token druid.
- Crypt Lord is somehow interesting in wild token druid deck.
- Addled Grizzly is probably just a meme card, but It's nice to know the synergy.
Working With "If Minion Dies" Cards!
- Cult Master Is a pretty good 7 mana play, as you are dealing 4 somewhere, drawing 4 cards and also developing a 4/2 body on the board. (Little UI?)
- Necrotic Geist could happen in arena and It's nice to know about that interaction.
- Floop's Glorious Gloop might be interesting "somehow" as you are getting all the spent mana back and after that you can even play Swipe or something else to clear the whole board!
- Witch's Cauldron might be interesting too as you could get something like a Hex in druid or even a The Storm Bringer!
- Corridor Creeper is another minion which could be played for almost free and anything "big" and cheap is always welcomed in token decks.
- This interaction with Volcanic Lumberer and Volcanic Drake works "almost" the same as Corridor Creeper, but only on your turn and they reset after every round to their default mana cost.
Egg Cards!
- I will just leave these here; everyone can "probably" think of the possibilities.
Buffing cards!
- These cards can "upgrade" your Bees to actually attack for 8 damage! (And potentially kill a giant!)
- As some of you pointed out, Dire Wolf Alpha won't work as I thought. However it will still upgrade your Bees to attack for 5 damage!
Finja? What?!
EDIT: There is a possibility that these 2 won´t work as we thought, because Mass Hysteria probably forced Finja into the smaller minion when we tried it. It´s just something that needs to be tested in the game.
- Did you know that these 2 cards work the same as Overkill minions? (And of course even a Genzo, the Shark or any other card with the same principle, but they don't have a use in this combo.)
- You could try to do a Finja, the Flying Star Murloc deck, but it isn't very good as you would just end up with 2 murlocs for 8 mana, still could be interesting to know though.
- Or you can try to do a Mill deck as you will give your opponent 4 coins and mill his other cards with Brann Bronzebeard + Coldlight Oracle + Naturalize.
Every Standard mode interaction can be also used in Wild mode, but It won't be that strong, so keep that in mind!
In the end, we´re really surprised about how many interactions one new card created! Let us know what you think! :)
It only seems like a bug because you've never actually read the tooltip for Overkill.
The article even says, Peter Whalen responded and said this is supposed to be how Overkill works
Nope. The tooltip reads "deal excess damage on your turn for a bonus". Having minions attack one of your one minions is not "dealing excess damage". If the overkill minion was the one to attack the bees then this would be a thing. This is not supposed to be how overkill works and none of this stuff will ever happen as it will be resolved before the next expansion.
If an enemy hero attacks one of your minions and takes 8 damage from that minion, the minion dealt damage.
@Highwayman37 Whenever any minion attacks any other minion, both minions "deal damage" as long as they have Attack greater than zero. It does not matter which minion is attacking.
If the damage dealt is more than the amount required to kill other minion, it is, in fact, "excess damage."
Are you saying Peter Whalen, a Hearthstone developer, is wrong about this?
Well I would disagree, the minion that is attacking is the one "dealing" damage. Don't want to get into an argument about semantics so we'll have to agree to disagree. That is not what Peter Whalen said lol - all he confirmed was that this bug exists. Specifically he said "Yes - if you target one of your own guys on your turn, their Overkills will fire".
This is not an "agree to disagree" situation. That would imply that it's a matter of opinion. This is a matter of facts and real card interactions.
It's also not about semantics when the definitions of the terms are coded into a game. They have to have precise meanings, and we must all use those same definitions when discussing the game. If you aren't prepared to do that, you need to stop expecting to be taken seriously when discussing the game.
Good lord get over yourself. I think that dealing damage refers to the attacking minion, there's nothing that's "coded" into the game that specifies both minions in regards to that particular term. It is a matter of opinion in regards to the definition of the term dealt. If you aren't prepared to recognize that other posters are entitled to different opinions than yourself then you need to stop expecting to be taken seriously when discussing the game.
Any time a card or tooltip talks about "dealing damage," it is coded into the game a certain way. It has to be, or the game wouldn't work. It's not a matter of opinion. The computer can't ask you what you think the words mean before it executes a move.
You are the most jaded person ive seen on the internet
2,563 Armor Druid - Wild!
There is no way blizzard is going to allow this, either one of the cards will get changed
You think? It's a 6 card combo in wild and nobody cares about the state of wild to be honest. It's called WILD for a reason.
That is not true, Blizzard does care about Wild (at least, to some extent anyways), see Aviana nerf.
Wild should still have some semblance of balance, hence why so many are screaming for Blizz to do something about Big Priest. The new shaman card though just might....
If you think they will look at it and say, "We'd better change this before it makes a mess of Wild," you are demonstrably incorrect.
If this creates a deck that becomes Sea Witch levels of oppressive, they might change something, but I honestly don't think the combo has that kind of potential.
The overkill restriction was never based on the minion attacking. Overkill just only work on your turn, keep in mind that overkill spells can't attack so attacking being the condition wouldn't make any sense.
What kind of nerf will this card see? Mana cost or number of bees? Because Druid can never have nice things.
If it actually works like this, it should be: "Choose a minion, summon four 1/1 bees for it to attack."
Or they just need to fix the overkill interaction if it's unintended. Whatever they wanna do.
Seems like an error that Finja and Soldier of Fortune would work with this card. They aren't the same as Overkill or shouldn't be in any case.
They don't, the post is just wrong.
