Quote from Blizzard
- Ben Brode is on the stage and is giving us info on stats.
- The worst card in the game is Magma Rager, only winning 29% of the games its in
- Angry Chicken is not awful!
- 556 Defender of Argus are played for each Angry Chicken played.
- 56% chance to win if you draw a Baron Geddon!
- Control Warrior has a higher chance to win the more cards you draw.
- Average of two attempts to kill a Normal boss in Naxxramas.
- Some players took up to 65 attempts to beat Kel'Thuzad on Heroic. Heroic boss kills on average took 9 kills.
- Ben is now talking about skill and randomness in different games.
- Being a better problem solver will win you more games.
- Hearthstone is great because it creates stories for players.
Goblins vs Gnomes Expansion
- Eric Dodds is now on stage to talk about Goblins vs Gnomes!
- The stars of the show are going to be the crazy inventions that the Goblins and Gnomes create.
- They wanted to do more this time around for Hearthstone content.
- Do more for the multiplayer aspect of Hearthstone. Naxxramas was a solo player experience which rewarded you with cards, now you get to play against other players to get your cards (gold for packs)
- Naxxramas was a very serious place, grim even, so it's time for some fun with Goblins and Gnomes.
- Naxxramas was a geographical location, but Goblins and Gnomes are from all over Azeroth.
- They wanted to make an expansion that players would be passionate about; Even if it was you being passionate about wanting to destroy them!
- Goblins love their bombs. They're causing trouble for everyone.
- Madder Bomber is excited about blowing up yourself.
- Gnomes aren't as dangerous as goblins, but they love to experiment.
- Gnomish Experimenter has a chance to really backfire.
- The new board is both Goblin and Gnome themed.
- It's got lots of crazy stuff thanks to the art team, so get clicking.
- The real stars of the expansion are the Mechanical Minions. Mechanicals have a Mech race and there's interaction between them.
- Spider Tank is the most basic Mechanical unit. No effects, just stats.
- Mechwarper will allow you to summon in all the mechs.
- Classes are getting mechs too. Upgraded Repair Bot is a priest specific mechanical minion.
- Harvest Golem has always dreamed of being a mech, so now he's a mech!
- Other old cards will also become Mech.
- Mechanical Giant! Clockwork Giant is another minion in the Giant series. Giants effects are modified by different board conditions.
- Everyone gets weapons! Well, kind of. Blingtron 3000 gives you an your opponent weapon, which will be golden.
- The team isn't ready to give every class their own base weapons.
- They wanted to add cards which would "pilot" mechs. On death, they summon random minions!
- Piloted Shredder, Piloted Sky Golem, and Sneed's Old Shredder are these new piloted minions.
- Ragnaros the Firelord could easily pop out of Sneed's Old Shredder, and if he does, he will parachute out!
- Tinkering, aka Spare Parts. Spare Parts are pieces of mechs which have fallen off.
- There are 7 Spare Parts in total.
- Whirling Blades - Give a minion +1 attack. (1 mana)
- Armor Plating - Give a minion +1 attack. (1 mana)
- Reversing Switch - Swap a minion's Attack and Health. (1 mana)
- Goblin vs Gnome packs costs the same as expert packs, both gold and real money.
- Cards from the expansion can be disenchanted and crafted with Arcane Dust.
Spectator Mode
- Yong Woo is now on the stage to talk about Spectator Mode.
- Spectator mode will release with the new expansion.
- You can spectate by clicking the spectate button on your friends list when people are in the game.
- Spectator mode puts you into the view of your friend. It looks just like in-game.
- Spectators can hover over all elements independent of the player being spectated.
- As a player, you can see who is watching you playing, and how many people are watching you.
- You can make your games invite only for spectating, to keep people out.
- You can spectate two players at the same time for Tournament broadcasting through one client.
Arena Panel Recap
Spectator Mode
Quote from BlizzardAlongside Goblins vs Gnomes, we’re introducing Spectator mode so you and your friends can observe each others’ explosive battles, fiery strategies, and hard-won victories. If someone on your friends list is playing and has allowed spectators (enabled by default), you can jump into your pal’s game and watch right away!
Hearthstone World Championship
If you're into Hearthstone eSports, the World Championship is currently going on at BlizzCon!
More spare parts have been revealed here. (Not png images though.)
Holy crap, this expansion is awesome!
I see some ways that Zoo can be made even more powerful >:D
Well, I'm eager to see what happens to the ladder at the highest ranks -- are we actually going to see people jumping around all over the place from the tons of randomness, or are our expectations going to be defied and we see the same players holding their ranks at the top?
That's not what's going to happen. As people have said, there is skill involved in managing the randomness. HOWEVER!!! When you introduce a lot of RNG elements, it's going to take a greater number of games for that skill to shine through. What that means, is the same people will be reaching legend, because the randomness will regress to the mean over time, and the people with more skills will climb higher - eventually. On the other hand, tournaments are going to be crazy and the RNG is going to make a much bigger impact, because the number of games played are much smaller and every random event is that much more meaningful and your skill to manage it is that much more meaningless.
Depends how strong the RNG cards we get are, I mean the only really broken stuff was Nat Pagle and Tinkmaster and they were both nerfed.
If all the cards will have this random thing i think i will quit my serious/competitive aspiration with this game...
- L
No matter how much I love to see more cards get added to Hearthstone, I really don't like what I've seen so far. To add more random outcomes removes all aspects of skill, no matter how much or little it takes. So I do hope that they'll stop with the random stuff and add other type of rules that you actually have the ability to control.
This is my own strong opinion.
Oh nice, so you can get the new card by crafting them with dust too, not only with gold/money from packs. My 13k dust savings will finally pay off :o
Perfect! i would craft that awesome random minion spawn legendary... or maybe the random weapon spawner...
- L
You will not be forced to use the RNG cards. (Of course, you have zero choice whether your opponent uses them.)
65 attemps to beat Kel'Thuzad?? Holy crap! Poor guys. :(
65 and counting >:P
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkdaUxWn3tE Apparently there is a warrior weapon, called Ogre Warmaul: a 4/2 for 3 mana that says "50% chance of hitting the wrong enemy". The exact moment it appears is in 8:07 of the video I linked.
I assumed you could only get this weapon at random by playing the legendary?
How do you know it's a Warrior weapon???
The red banner part on the golden card. Look the video and pause at 8:07. Under the name and between the crystal, and under the effect area.
ahh ok nice, i see it now, thanks! Anyways...seems like a pretty bad weapon lol
Finally, more of the one thing everyone agreed Hearthstone needed more of - cards with extremely wild RNG swings built right in.
You don't need to play them. And I would guess that most of the RNG cards won't find their way into competitive decks. You'll mostly see these played by Noxious. And it will give lots of material to Top 5 Plays of the Week.
I believe the answer is yes, take a look at this video.

Harvest Golem is now a Mech.
