Deciding to close HearthPwn, along with a handful of other community websites, wasn’t an easy decision for our company, but we could no longer justify the substantial engineering resources it took to run the properties. It was a sad day in our office when we announced the sunsetting of many beloved sites.
Previously, we weren’t able to entertain selling the sites because they were built on a proprietary platform. It would be a monumental task for an external engineering team to maintain or migrate the communities. Knowing this, we announced the site closures, but just as the sun slowly began to set for these properties, a figure appeared . . .
As of this week, we’ve identified a company with the necessary experience to buy and run these sites (including HearthPwn), so that the passionate communities will continue to have homes on these long-standing sites. With this, we have started to transfer the sites to Magic Find. As for the staff on these sites, it will be up to them and Magic Find to decide how they’d like to move forward.
This isn’t the end for HearthPwn. It’s a new and exciting beginning. We wish Magic Find the best as we say goodbye to several of the properties that helped our company grow into what it is today.
This will be the last update from Curse/Fandom. All future communications will be from the new site owner.
in about 6 years, 1 month, and ... days
The community has already left for OOC. The community was the heartbeat of Hearthpwn. Good luck and all with the site but I think you have your work cut out.
Flux posted on his website that he was offered to mod here in the end, but after all that has happened he decided to decline. To be honest I'm happy for both the fact that Hearthpwn is staying up and for the fact that we have outof.cards now. Good luck to both of them.
Them: ''We are closing down the site''
Us: ''Let me change your mind''
Them: ''Nha, its imposSOLD!''

Flux did a great job running the site, but I'm excited to have a new moderation team. Never understood why he was put on such a pedestal, especially after he was caught abusing his moderation powers on the hearthstone subreddit to delete any news stories that didn't link to Hearthpwn.
Is that really confirmed or just rumors?

They should have sold it to flux.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!
Lets not forget, that even if the site is for Hearthstone it still exists in our world ruled by money, greedy and idiots. Unfortunately. We shouldn't take this close to hearth, cos this is happening all the time :). I am sure that old staff team will be missed from here, but this site just even have better collors than OOC, which is hard to read. Unfortunately community really lose in this situation. But I perfectly understand why Flux got sicked from this situation.
maybe better try it first.
Hasta La Vista, Baby
Not gonna lie, it's a pretty crap move to send Flux packing due to not wanting to sell only to turn around and do this.
I have no ill will toward the company taking over, but this was nothing less than a last-minute cashout for scummy Curse.
Hope this site stays awesome. Personally, I feel more comfortable with Hearthpwn than Out of Cards. Despite wanting to love it, I just feel lost whenever I try to get involved with OOC.
So the people leaving the site are going to downvote people who say theyll stay at Hearthpwn? While complaining about scummy tactics? Just calling it as I see it, I think many people want to stay at Hearthpwn for the community that has been cultivated, and the community as a whole will survive. Personally I agree with you smith, it just comes down to which site I enjoy using more; apparently people take that personally and have to downvote.
It is a little hypocritical, but it doesn't bother me. I can understand the creators of OOC being upset. I mean, imagine putting all your effort into creating something new, then reading that people prefer the other option (that was thought to disappear!). It's human nature to believe that whatever rendition of something you put all your energy into is the best.
Also, OOC was created with a belief that all from Hearthpwn would transfer at the site's closure. If the creators knew it would go into competition with Hearthpwn, would they have created/designed things differently? I simply said that, right now, I feel much more comfortable here. I do wish the best for the creators and members of OOC. I also hope Hearthpwn stays awesome.
Goodbye Hearthpwn, Thanks!!!!!
Why? What’s wrong with him?
Bye hearthpwn. Outofcards HERE I GO.
