Rise of Shadows on a Budget - Five Decks That Won't Break The Bank
We've teamed up with RegisKillbin to bring you five budget decks for Hearthstone's latest expansion, Rise of Shadows. Decks were assembled and tested up on the higher parts of the ladder (Rank 2-3) were they found success, with the exception of Face Warrior, a deck that should see success in climbing at lower ranks.
You can check out all of the lists down below, including some words from Regis himself, and if you want to learn more about any of them, clicking them will bring you to their guide page which have further details.
Live Gameplay
These decks are going to be piloted LIVE! Tune in below.
Budget Token Druid
Token Druid is a clear tier 1 deck in the Rise of Shadows meta right now, and this deck list adapts it to a budget player's needs. At less than 1500 total dust thanks to a few convenient substitute cards (and subtracting out the cost of a free Archmage Vargoth), it still packs the punch necessary to win on the competitive ladder.

Budget Zoolock
Zoo Warlock has always been a strong archetype in Hearthstone, and that hasn't changed in Rise of Shadows with the success of Magic Carpet Zoo. Unfortunately for budget players, Magic Carpet can be an expensive craft, so this list was designed to stay under a 1500 total dust cost while remaining competitive and true to its Zoo roots.

Budget Midrange Hunter
Midrange Hunter has seen a lot of success recently, and it seems that will continue Rise of Shadows, where it's carving out a nice Tier 2 spot in the meta. Although it's not traditionally an "expensive" deck, it can still be nice to play a cheaper version, so this one comes in at less than 1500 total dust while remaining competitive.

Budget Murloc Shaman
Murloc Shaman is taking off in Rise of Shadows, settling into a nice Tier 2 spot in the meta. Unfortunately some big Murlocs are a little pricey (including Scargill and Murloc Warleader), so you may think it's impossible to play on a budget. It's not! This budget list has a lot of potential, and I was consistently winning games with it at Rank 2 and Rank 3.

Budget Face Warrior
It's really tough to play Warrior on a budget in the Rise of Shadows meta, as all of its popular archetypes are littered with legendary cards. But if you long for the days or yore when all you had to do was click your opponent's face to win Hearthstone games, you're in luck! This budget list is all about going Face! It turns out Warrior can still find ways to win with lots of damage and hyper aggression in this new meta with less dominant decks. If you're someone who's looking for a fast, easy deck for climbing a few ranks in that Rank 50 to Rank 10 range, this list could work wonders.

Budget suggestions are always appreciated! They're really helpful especially when you're trying to learn a different class. I still haven't completely explored all the classes so when I can find budget lists for something it's very useful.
If anyone is interested, I've created a fun, working and cheap priest deck. :)
Here's the link if you want to check it out: https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1215087-ros-vargoth-resurrection-otk
P.S. I know most of ppl don't approve players self promoting but I don't get anything from this, just want to wider players options.
That's (part of the reason) why I like Regis, and have been subbed to his youtube since well before he had even 20k subscribers. Uploading and streaming that amount while still having a day job shows commitment and deserves mentioning, but taking your time to craft F2P decks instead of just playing is taking it one step further.
You put up a pretty good effort to be a dick. Take that as a compliment.
why do you embed twitch streams? I'm considering not reading articles because those streams kill my bandwidth..
I really thank the people who wanted to create cheaper decks. This is best idea!
In the interest of NOT spreading false information: hsreplay says the average win rate of all 18 Whizbang decks as of this afternoon (Apr-16) combined are 48.9%. More specifically: min of 38.2 (heal druid), max of 58.2 (token druid), a median of 49.1 (split between rez priest and lock), and fairly even distribution between.
I see none of RegisKillbin's decks are listed under hsreplay. I do see some budget decks listed as > 50% win rate, but most of these have a limited number of games so one has to wonder if they were over-representing lower-rank games and/or exceptional pilots. If nothing else, I can present the anecdotal evidence: who in their right mind would spend over 10K dust crafting a Khadgar mage deck or a Bomb warrior deck if its going to win LESS than a 1k Highmane hunter deck?
My gut tells me these budget decks would do significantly worse than 48.9% win rate under similar conditions as the Whizbang results, but perhaps by not as much as we would anticipate. I'll leave it to the readers to decide for themselves what exactly constitutes a "tier" and where the thresholds lie. I will also add that playing Whizbang is a fundamentally different experience than any other deck--you have no control over which decks you're going to play and you are unable to improve them outside the matches. This can create a sense of helplessness and resentment which I think turns off players like Shatterstar1998--it makes the decks feel like they are worse than the really are. But if you're open to "roll with the punches", I personally think Whizbang is a sound investment for any budget player.
No they are not. Stop spreading this information. They are Tier 2 at best.
And the budget decks listed here are tier 1? You may have to rethink your idea of who is spreading false information.
I'm playing around since beta. Can you tell me please wtf is "tiers" of decks in the HS? Is it like imagine friends?
I know this is of topic, but does anybody know if the new rules for arena is online (the one where arena wins count towards golden portraits)?
Yes, they are.
Awesome - thanks for the reply
Of course, anytime
Can you please include in the description of the decks what cards could be substituted for a deck version above budget? I mean if you have the epics and/or some key legendaries, not everything.
The meta right now is so freaking annoing there are literally only braindead token druids warriors and rogues.
never thought id hear "braindead warrior" control warrior takes much more skill than those you are comparing it to.
This, my friend, is the most fun meta this game has seen since the launch of Un'Goro. If you STILL don't like it, I'd consider changing your game of choice.
This is actually really good for f2p players, well done Regis!
