Clarification on Rise of Shadows Free Packs Quest Chain
Previously we reported on the quest chain that was to arrive with Rise of Shadows using datamined information. Upon launch of the expansion we found out this information was incorrect thanks to a launch blog from Blizzard. This is what you need to know.
- There are five quests.
- Each quest is time-gated by a different day. Rise of Shadows launch was day 1.
- Login each day and get the next quest after you've completed the previous one.
- There are not 12 Rise of Shadows packs rewarded for full completion.
- Remember that datamined information can always be inaccurate. Never make plans around it!
The Quests
- Day 1 - Play 25 Cards in Play mode
- Day 2 - Play 5 Games in Play mode
- Day 3 - Draw 20 Cards in any mode
- Day 4 - Win 1 Game in Play Mode
- Day 5 - Play 100 Cards
The Rewards
- Day 1 - 1 Rise of Shadows card pack & 1 The Witchwood card pack
- Day 2 - 1 Rise of Shadows card pack & 1 The Boomsday Project card pack
- Day 3 - 1 Rise of Shadows card pack & 1 Rastakhan’s Rumble card pack
- Day 4 - 1 Rise of Shadows card pack & 1 The Witchwood card pack
- Day 5 - 1 Rise of Shadows card pack, 1 The Boomsday Project card pack, 1 The Witchwood card pack, and 1 Rastakhan’s Rumble card pack
In total, we're still receiving 12 card packs, it's just a lot less Rise of Shadows packs. In total you'll receive:
- 5 Rise of Shadows Packs
- 3 Witchwood Packs
- 2 Boomsday Packs
- 2 Rastakhan Packs
I'm sorry to anyone that was mislead by the original datamined information for the expansion quest chain.

So I'm happy to get some packs from the last 2 expansions. Also mine some golds for the new packs!

Posted Apr 10, 2019 (Rise of Shadows)ALL quests (even daily quests) appear at 12:00pm/midnight in Pacific Standard Time Zone. In other words, it should be about 35 minutes until the new quests come up. Of course, this is only confirmed for Americas...I dunno how it works in other regions.
Google conveniently translates timezones for you if you type in "time in pacific time" or something along those lines.
EDIT: Not sure if this works for event quests tho...
EDIT 2: Yeah, the above is false information. It's only your average daily quests that get refreshed at midnight...so ye, might come at expac launch time...sorry for the wrong info >w<

My guess is that they come at expansion launch time each day, but we'll see.

Posted Apr 9, 2019 (Rise of Shadows)Today is some of the most fun I've ever had in Hearthstone. Only one combo deck (wall priest) left over from before rotation that I've run into, everything else has been a variation of some popular builds floating around here and other HS sites.
these rewards are great and kicking them to days - while a little bad feeling, since I'm excited and want to open more packs ASAP - is not a big deal. It's Blizzard's way of getting players to get into a habit of logging in and playing daily, probably to keep their numbers up for metrics and the like.

At this point most people don't care about previous expansions, they are excited for the new one and they give us old packs instead all the time at the wrong time.

Posted Apr 10, 2019 (Rise of Shadows)Listen, Mr. Grim, I spend a lot more money in this game than you ever will. These 12 packs make no difference for my collection, that doesn't change the fact that pack rewards on the expansion launch should exclusively be from the new set.
Why ? Because rewards / pack opening should be exciting. I don't think anyone really gets excited over Witch Wood packs. Even though I don't need those packs, I think it's shitty for anyone expecting Rise of Shadow packs.
You might say, it's ''free'' why COMPLAIN???!?!?!11 Okay so what ? Because it's free am I not allowed to think that this is bad marketing ?
