Clarification on Rise of Shadows Free Packs Quest Chain
Previously we reported on the quest chain that was to arrive with Rise of Shadows using datamined information. Upon launch of the expansion we found out this information was incorrect thanks to a launch blog from Blizzard. This is what you need to know.
- There are five quests.
- Each quest is time-gated by a different day. Rise of Shadows launch was day 1.
- Login each day and get the next quest after you've completed the previous one.
- There are not 12 Rise of Shadows packs rewarded for full completion.
- Remember that datamined information can always be inaccurate. Never make plans around it!
The Quests
- Day 1 - Play 25 Cards in Play mode
- Day 2 - Play 5 Games in Play mode
- Day 3 - Draw 20 Cards in any mode
- Day 4 - Win 1 Game in Play Mode
- Day 5 - Play 100 Cards
The Rewards
- Day 1 - 1 Rise of Shadows card pack & 1 The Witchwood card pack
- Day 2 - 1 Rise of Shadows card pack & 1 The Boomsday Project card pack
- Day 3 - 1 Rise of Shadows card pack & 1 Rastakhan’s Rumble card pack
- Day 4 - 1 Rise of Shadows card pack & 1 The Witchwood card pack
- Day 5 - 1 Rise of Shadows card pack, 1 The Boomsday Project card pack, 1 The Witchwood card pack, and 1 Rastakhan’s Rumble card pack
In total, we're still receiving 12 card packs, it's just a lot less Rise of Shadows packs. In total you'll receive:
- 5 Rise of Shadows Packs
- 3 Witchwood Packs
- 2 Boomsday Packs
- 2 Rastakhan Packs
I'm sorry to anyone that was mislead by the original datamined information for the expansion quest chain.
don't let your normal quest slot fill up for the special quest slot. you have to stay on top of it and do your incoming regular quest and at RoS launch time the special comes in and do it then and there cause 2 regular quests + 1 special you dont get your regular quest again.
It's not difficult to save 7k+ gold between expansions as a F2P.
Granted, as F2P you have to grind on rank 20-15 for months before you start to get a good enough collection, but if you have a bit of patience then you'll be able to start making whatever you want after an expansion or two of saving up a lot.
People expect to be able to start the game and hit legend but there are no competitive games out there where, for free, you can instantly become top-level. You either put time and effort in, or you pay to give yourself an advantage. Simple.
My f2p strat is choose one really expensive wild deck, and play that forever. I've been playing malygos priest since old gods and between vargoth and the new rez cards it's just getting better and better.
say thx Blizzard for 12 free packs :FeelGoodMan:
Bruh you must play a shitton then, the most I've had at any xpac launch was 5k gold when I consciously tried to save
There are ~30 days a month, 4 months between expansions means ~120 days, the least you can get from a daily quest is 50g... That's 6k not counting any better quests, 10g for each 3 wins and bonuses you get for events in general.
I think your definition of "consciously trying to save" needs an update.
They are free in the sense that you don't have to randomly find them in packs, and they don't reset your pity timer. You just get them as a reward for supporting the game.
That doesn't answer the question of why all these bitter children think they deserve free stuff.
If people want free entertainment, they should go to movie night at the library or something.
Yep, not Play 5. Just did it. Rewards as stated: 1 RoS and 1 Boomsday pack
I don't get everyone losing their minds over exactly what the "free stuff" you get is...think for a second, ITS FREE...Hearthstone is a Free to Play game with option for Pay to win...Activision/Blizzard does not have to provide more free stuff, would it be in their better interest in the eyes of the players, of course. And do I think they should have been WAY more generous since their is not only the pre release bundles to buy, plus the launch mini bundle AND content to buy on top of that...But that is another argument entirely. Be thankful for what you get given to you cause you (the collective community I am referring to when I say "you") did nothing but log into their "free to play" game to "earn" these rewards.
Also hope everyone is loving the Expansion so far :)
Hearthstone is a
Free to PlayPay to win game with option forPay to winFree to PlayThere, I fixed it for you
My guy, with all due respect to your opinion, they're a video game company not an insurance company. Of course they have to make money but widening the enjoyment gap between free-to-play players and people who pay is not a decent move. Hey I bought the 50-pack plus the 9-pack I'm cool, but for an average f2p player it's going to take a hell of a lot of time to collect even the commons and rares. Giving people a head start with like 5-10 packs straight up from day 1 was the way to go in my opinion. Especially since the rotation is happening and people need to build almost entirely new decks. Blizz is being a douche this time around.
You could go F2P theoretically and climb the ladder. You'd have to A) Grind a lot B) Craft in mid season when meta settles. But yeah its kinda difficult and you won't get all decks obviously.
I totally agree with your point that Blizz is being a douche this time around. I am just saying that people are complaining about the amount of FREE stuff they're getting, but I am not sure of the difference when looking back at how much or less whichever fits, Blizz gave. I think that Blizzard should at the LEAST give an additional 10-20 packs on a bundle if people are willing to spend money, and this should be a daily event to get 12 ROS packs, people have just spent MONTHS getting the cards from the last couple expansions, WHY are they giving these packs again you know?
I feel like it's more "Free to Play" and "Pay to Have All the Cards". If you don't mind having one or two F2P decks and always playing nothing both those, then you're set and can win and climb the ladder some. Maybe even reach Legend! If Hearthstone is most fun to you when you can change it up and try all the meta decks as well as making your own homebrew creations, you're likely paying for cards!
One example right now of a very affordable competitive deck someone could use to climb while F2P is Token Druid. One of the best performing lists costs only 5,960 dust, and one of the cards is Archmage Vargoth, so it's essentially only 4,360 since he was free for everyone!. https://hsreplay.net/decks/nMO4cjoONeRGT8LKKSWkA/
It is still Play 3 games on day 2.
awww downvoted into my comment hid. lol
Thank you for the clarification.
anyone else got HoF cards in their WW packs? is that normal or should it be reported?
Since it's never happened before, (HoF cards in Standard Expansions sets) it's probably been overlooked, i guess you shouldn't pack them (you don't pack HoF cards in Classic packs), you should report it.
