1: the art is pure gold
2: *laughs in antonidas*
Mana Wyrm died for this!
On: will be interesting to see if this card has potential Frost Bolt or a secret seems like a good pull fron this
No matter, I need this in GOLD
The art killed me.
Still waiting for a (0) Twinspell do nothing tho.
"Twinlight" (0) Twinspell: kindle the lights of Dalaran (do nothing).
That alone would enable Vex Crow Mage.
Question is: Spells from ANY class? (doesn't say "mage spell", so...)
Discover is always from the same class. (Unless specified otherwise)
*wrong comment, sorry*
Why Mana Wyrm was nerfed .
The last mage card could be a Twinspell Secret
It won't be a "secret" for your opponent if he sees that your hand size didn't change after playing it tho...
What if it "twinspelled" after it activated?
They gave it to paladins instead
Omg... So you can discover secrets now? 4x Counterspells will be nice.
Primordial gliph makes it seem pretty weak but the meta will be less powerful and I think this is pretty good actually.
Why would you play this instead of just playing the "under 3 mana" spell you're hoping to discover instead? It's literally a 1 mana do nothing for most intents and purposes. Sure, it gives you some flexibility, but you also ruin your consistency because there's no guarantee you'll be offered a spell good for your current situation among the three.
The only way this sees any play is if a tempo mage deck that benefits from casting many spells is viable. We have seen some cards going into that direction already this expansion, but so far it's not nearly enough. We'd need cards like Flamewaker, and even if that was in standard I doubt Magic Trick would see play. We'll see.
For the exact reason you ever use discover mechanics in your deck, to be flexible in certain situations. You can get many secrets with that and except all the things like frost nova which you wouldnt put in your deck but might keep you alive for one turn longer. There's 15 spells that you could discover + all the spells they might print this expansion like the twinspell (I didn't count it to the 15) so you are pretty likely to get what you need because some of the effects are simmilar on few of the spells. Of course it isn't anything that will make a mage deck itself but I can see mages using it.
I think it’s gonna do great in small spell mage together with Mana Cyclone
That's the thing though, discover cards aren't run for flexibility. No one's playing Secret Plan in Hunter unless they're playing Spell Hunter with secret synergy, no one's playing Hallucination unless they need cards from opponent's deck for Spectral Cutlass, no one's playing Stolen Steel, or Blazing Invocation or Dark Possession.
I hope this helps illustrate my point. 1 mana "discover a card" is a terrible card, almost regardless of which card we're talking about. They only see any play if they have some really good synergy with other cards in the deck, and even then they're usually the last cards you put into your deck just to fill out your last few slots, as is the case with Secret Plan and Hallucination. Find me a single deck without Lesser Emerald Spellstone or Spectral Cutlass that runs either of those cards - you can't because there are none.
All of these cards are effectively the same as Magic Trick, they have the same mana cost for a similar effect and ZERO of them are put into any deck for "discover flexibility". So unless they print some cards with great synergy with Magic Trick, this will be no exception.
It is worth mentioning that the card has great synergy with Gadgetzan Auctioneer though, since it's a 1 mana card that will consistently give you another 0 or 1 mana card to cycle, so if a mage combo deck emerges within the next two years, the card might see play then.
Well good points, but I believe the fact it is way less random will make it way better as a stand alone than for example hallucination. For example stonehill defender is wildly played because you can constantly get good cards and adapt to the current situation (and no1 would ever run a 1/4 taunt for the body itself as we all know from the memes)
Fair enough, Stonehill is definitely a bit of a special situation, but I think that mostly comes down to three points:
Outside of Paladin and Odd decks, very few decks ran the card through it's life in hearthstone. The only exception I can think of is Quest Warrior, and it's obvious why you'd want to run it there, any card that gives you multiple taunt minions to play will see play there.
