New Card Revealed - Swampqueen Hagatha
A new shaman legendary has been revealed.
Upon playing this card, you will receive two discover interfaces containing Shaman spells. Choose one from each selection and then when you play the generated minion that was added to your hand, it will also play those spells! You get to choose the targets for the cast spells.
We stan a swampqueen
What would the mana cost of the 5-5 be? Cost of the two spells combined?
nope, it's always a 5 mana 5/5
Rise of Dust
Bah. Totally unimpressed
Now we have seen Rafaam and Haggatha, I am starting to think these Villian cards might be meme cards. They don't seem very strong to me.
Rafaam and this are miles apart.
A 7 mana 7/8 taunt for 7 mana is a threat as well as a blocker. This is not either. Also, usually legendary minion > Shaman spell, especially when you only get 2 with this card.
I'm assuming that if you get this battlecry with Shudderwock you won't be able to pick the spells but what I would like to know is if the game will tell you in some way which spells Shudderwock picked for your 5/5. Hopefully, the Horror you get will be something like the Zombeasts and will indicate what its effect is on the card itself.
They are written on the card itself
As of right now I imagine that if you already played the Horror, Shudderwock will replicate the Horror's two spells you picked since it's spelled out on the card. For the Horror you generate off of Shudderwock, it'll likely be two random Shaman spells.
This is like Inkmaster Solia and Kazakus wrapped up in one package! With no deck restrictions!!
... and is also a 7 mana 5/5. The reason Kazakus saw play and Solia didn't is because Kazakus was cheap enough that it could give you tools against agro if the matchup required it, this is way too slow for that, you have to play a 7 mana 5/5 on turn 7 and even then you're less likely to get an answer than with Kazakus.
Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad card, but it's nowhere near the powerlevel of Kazakus.
You may change your mind when Shamans are running two of all their strongest cards with this as part of their pinnacle end game. I can agree that Kazakus was better suited against aggro, however, that was his intended design. Kazakus was built around the 'highlander' (Reno-style) deck lists that thrived on using singular and stand alone powerful cards. Swampqueen Hagatha will most likely be used in mid-range and standard control decks focused more on board control than surviving until the late game.
One way Kazakus was way better is that he gave the option of creating 1, 5, or 10 mana spells with varying power levels, when this card basically only gives the middle option. I do see this having incredible potential as it will always be 5 mana, come with a 5/5 and can get spells like Rain of Toads and others we haven't seen yet.
1. Kazakus was consistent, The number of options you were offered with him was sufficiently low that you could rely with a reasonable consistency on the fact of him giving you the right answer when you needed one. This on the other hand can give you three token buffs and three draw options when you desperately need removal.
2. Kazakus + a 5 mana spell could be played on the same turn for 9 mana and had a higher powerlevel. Let's say you want to remove a big minion and multiple smaller ones on the enemy side of the board. With Hagatha you need to get *incredibly* lucky. You basically need exactly Lightning Storm (because it's the only real AOE in standard for shaman after the rotation (besides Hagatha's Scheme which is worse in this case)) and something like Hex or Lava Burst, and you get overloaded in the process. With Kazakus you could just pick 4 AOE to all, which is better, and polymorph a minion or deal 5 damage to a minion. There's no comparison.
2. Hagatha is a terrible end game card, the powerlevel just isn't high. Compare her to something like Shudderwock. Midgame they're about similar (when played on curve, Shudderwock is a bit better even there, but Hagatha's effect can be played one turn earlier). But in the late game, Shudderwock will have a massive amount of beneficial effects. It can summon minions, generate cards, heal you, remove enemy minions and even gain buffs and taunt. Haggatha will always just cast two spells, which might not even be the spells you'd want ideally.
4. You're still ignoring the fact that you have to play a 7 mana 5/5 to maybe sometimes get the answer you need, which costs an additional 5 mana and only gives you useful outcomes sometimes. It's a massive loss of tempo and can be played around. But let's just say you get lucky and get that Rain of Toads you wanted. You just paid 12 mana to summon a Rain of Toads and 10/10 worth of stats... why wouldn't you just put in the Rain of Toads that you wanted in the first place instead? That way you can actually play it when you need the taunts on board, instead of playing a 7 mana 5/5 and dying before you even get to summon them?
This card is mediocre. It's not bad, you'll be pretty happy when you get it from a random effect but you'll very rarely want to actually play it in your decks.
Anyone know if you can get the same (non-targeted) spell twice? Double Lightning Storm or Bloodlust, for example?
Yes you can, you just can't get two targeted spells
Question for English speakers. Is "Swampqueen" gramatically correct? Shouldn't it be "Swamp-Queen" or something?
As quoted from the web sir or madam: "When referred to directly as a full title, the Queen or Queen Elizabeth II are acceptable. When you're talking about “the Queen” in the UK, that is her title for us and is therefore capitalized. However, you could use both capitalized and non-capitalized and still be correct."
So when swampqueen would be a royal title, it would've been written with a capital, but there aren't any royal swampqueens yet, therefore it is correct on the card.
The hyphenated form or two separate words ("Swamp Queen") would be preferred in some contexts, but since it's a fictional title, it's fine.
That depends. She is the ruler of a swamp, so normally Swamp Queen or Swamp-Queen would be correct. However if we take the point of view that this is a fictional world in which the swamp is basically a nation in itself, which uses "Swampqueen" or "Swampking" when referring to their rulers, then this is the title itself, so only the first letter has to be capitalized.
