We're Designing Cards of Mammoth Proportions In This Week's Card Design Competition
Entries are open for this week's Card Design Competition! This week's theme is "A Mammoth Undertaking" where we're designing cards from Un'Goro, Frozen Throne, and Kobolds!
Competition-Specific Restrictions:
- You must make a card which combines at least one mechanic from each of the expansions in the Year of the Mammoth. A final farewell!
- Available Mechanics
- Journey to Un'goro: Adapt, Poisonous, Quest, 'If you played an Elemental last turn', 'Has +X Attack during your opponent's turn.'
- Knights of the Frozen Throne: Lifesteal, Hero Card, 'Cast this again', 'Deathrattle: if it's your opponent's turn'
- Kobolds and Catacombs: Recruit, Legendary Weapon, Spellstones, Unidentified, 'Can only attack if you have X or more Armor.'

Posted Mar 8, 2019 (Level Up Nerf)this theme seems very restrictive. i personally would not have allowed it. just because all the cards will have 6+ lines of text and be more complicated than any hearthstone card needs to be. they will also be very hard to balance having to give them an ability of three different expansion.

Posted Mar 9, 2019 (Level Up Nerf)There's already a few cards in Hearthstone which meet 2/3: Unidentified Elixir, Lesser Amethyst Spellstone and Malfurion the Pestilent.
The design space offered by Hero Cards, Quests, Spellstones and Unidentified Cards means you can spread your mechanics out over several parts, and not every design needs to be incredibly wordy - hell, I could make a Legendary Weapon and have its text be 'Lifesteal, Poisonous'. Job done!

Posted Mar 9, 2019 (Level Up Nerf)Sometimes we have looser themes, sometimes we have more strict ones. It can be a good thing to actually embrace it and try to come up with a meaningful card within the narrow rule set. Some ppl like the challenge :)
