The Fortune Teller
Blizzard has uploaded a teaser video for the next expansion. We're certain this is about the new expansion due to the card back the troll uses in the video. The card back matches the card pack showcased in the Year of the Dragon preview. Could we be spending the year looking into the future or perhaps our past?
So, you remember this troll from the cinematic for Whispers of the Old Gods. Let's look at this.
The Boomsday Project can be thought of as Goblins vs Gnomes 2.0. The expansion after Goblins vs Gnomes was The Grand Tournament (because remember we still had adventures at the time). Rastakhan's Rumble can be thought of as The Grand Tournament 2.0, which also happened to be the expansion right after The Boomsday Project. The expansion after The Grand Tournament was Whispers of the Old Gods. This happens to be the expansion right after Rastakhan's Rumble with the fortune teller troll, so... Whispers of the Old Gods 2.0 confirmed?
That's a worrying coincidence tbh, personally I don't expect the next expansion to be themed that closely to WotOG but I hope that trend of 'soft theme recycling' doesn't continue.
There's nothing "worrying" about that. Magic is currently in its third cycle of Ravnica, one of its most popular settings. The problem isn't repeating themes but providing interesting mechanics and fiction to ground the expansion. And I would say Boomsday and Rastakhan are huge improvements over their predecessors. I would love a revisit of Whispers but it's looking like a Dalaran theme, maybe a prison break or heist?
Look at the bigger picture, I'm only worried that the trend might continue. If it continues indefinitely then the expansions become predictable and repetitive. Hearthstone has so many locations and themes to pull from and they start the cycle over again after only 3 years? If true (probably not), that's worrying.
No shit magic has revisited its most popular plane 3 times, the game is over 20 years old.

Thinking this might be for the solo content, There are 5 chapters for it and 5 cards in the video.
I really, really hope we ever get a new class, but I don't think there's even a small chance of it happening.
I'm going to lean towards some sort of underground Dalaran theme for this expansion. Maybe we'll see Rhonin as a Mage hero card?
Also, I can't help but wonder if the second expansion is going to be Pandarin themed, and MAYBE we'll see a new class (Monk)??
I hope in something good and not in another bad one. We will see.
I've seen that eye symbol on a card before, but I cannot put a finger on it.
Arcane Intellect, perhaps. The eye symbol is a common one used by mages, particularly those of the Kirin Tor.
These 5 cards represent Hero cards, probably. Because, when DKs rotate out, only 3 classes will have they Hero cards left in standard.
So 1 for Rogue, Mage, Warlock, Priest and paladin. Druid doesn't get one? I'm cool with that
Haha, yeah druid was meta for too long already :D
So is this set going to be like the Injustice League but with Hearthstone Villains? Not sure why but that is the vibe I'm getting.
moar trolls!
Stop the video a 0:23/0:24 is it me or I see N’zoth the curruped?
I’m sure that bringing back old expansions into the Arena format it’s not casual! The storyline looks like relating to the new set as well in my opinion.
So true, there are some sort of tentacles behind her
Well if you watch the video for the Old Gods trailer you will see her do that in it as well. She is a servant of the Old Gods in some way. I don't think that is N'zoth himself but more her true form being revealed.
Fortune telling / Scry as a new keyword would be kinda cool.
