Dean Ayala Asks: What Would Get You Back Into Hearthstone?
Hearthstone's Dean "Iksar" Ayala had a question for those that used to main Hearthstone as a game but no longer do.
What do they need to do to get you back?
We're actually quite interested in knowing too. With many old Hearthstone players still frequenting our site to see what the game is up to or to chat with old friends, there has to be something the Hearthstone team could do to reel you back in?
Quote from Dean AyalaIf Hearthstone used to be your main game but isn't anymore, what would get you back?
Add clans system and clan wars format ...... not bad idea right ?
Well it beats their current idea which is nothing.

make it more strategy game and not only if you have a lot of legendaries you have 90% chance to win
In other words we are losing players
1) Stop printing stupidly overpowered cards.
2) Shake up the Meta more often.
3) Reward creativity punish net decking.
4) Bring back the actual thought process of playing this game i.e trading minions, having to actually think through moves as opposed to playing some kind numbing OTK non interactive auto piloted junk any moron can play.
Why would people need to return to this game, when game has enough players. Few months ago they stated that they have 100 million players, that is hugeeee! Oh right, 100 million accounts, and most of them are recruit are friend accounts. Doubt the game even has 1 million daily players...
I used to be an avid player for over 3 years. First as F2P and then I spent about 100 euros / year. I have now switched to Eternal and enjoy it very much (twice Master/Legend level in 4 months). Plenty of events, plenty of updates, many rewards, insightful game mechanics, etc.
To get me back to Hearthstone which I still think is a great game, one would need:
1) Somewhat find a system (new competencies?) which makes the defending player (like Eternal or MTG) to have the ability to interact with the offensive action of the active player. Something much more consistent and interactive than secret (too random) or taunt (too passive). This makes the inactive player having fun during the opponent turn as (s)he has something to do. This also makes it harder to snowball as the opponent can disrupt the active player game plan.
2) Make it harder to get value from netdecking which is a core issue of Hearthstone stale meta... such as larger deck game format, more frequent nerf/buff, etc.
3) Like in Eternal, monthly draft event (competition)
4) (Also like in Eternal), monthly competition events with gameplay conditions (no legendary card, no spell, etc... )... Something way beyond the tavern brawl craziness.
5) Make a real difference between the casual format and the ladder. Currently casual is like ladder without real reward....
6) Tournament mode! (Like the Chinese already have in Hearthstone for over a year!)
7) The return of the adventure expansion
8) Without having the generosity of Direwolf's Eternal, Blizzard could find a way to give away more... (which is cheaper than trying to get back leaving players)
My two cents.
Stop forcing players to play some content and make all quest re-rollable! Everytime I'm trying get back to HS and see that crappy "Defeat 10 monsters as gunner" which I don't wanna play makes me close game right away.
Sorry emote.
Thas was my life to use it. After they removed it... i just did not care about this game anymore...
So many people ask only for more rewards or focus on rewards (the greed…)
Imo the game is rewarding enough, except for the dust return value of Epics and Legendaries.
I think the discussion should be about gameplay. What is the point in like having all the cards and still have a stale meta?
Regarding what is good for (the longevity of) Hearthstone then Gameplay > Rewards imo.
Random thinks like ‘nerf big priest’ or ‘nerf kingsbane’ don’t add much to the conversation and are short term 'solutions'.
Also many problems, regarding cards or decks being ‘too strong’ or 'troublesome', can be solved by having more gamemodes.
NERF BIG PRIEST. A lot. And Kingsbane Rogue.
Thx.
More exciting decks that are decent. Some of the most fun decks are what kept me playing hearthstone. The cards that were so random and could win you the game or make you lose terribly. Some examples are pre-nerf yogg, pre-nerf shudderwock, dead mans hand, grim patron, fatigue. These decks were so much fun to play and no where near good enough (minus patron) to be worried abouts. The randomness and wildnesss of them was amazing and added so much to the game. Every expansion now, adds cards and that eventually cycle into a consistent meta that everyone plays. There is no longer the wonder of what will happen next, it’s too predictable. Where as those decks added fun, ridiculous, sometimes irritating gameplays. I miss the good old days of hearthstone where memes were alive, competitive players could still be competitive, and casual players could laugh and have a good time with their friends.
In my opinion, They're just too greedy with the reward system of this game, this, along with the high cost that they're charging on "digital cards" makes a lot of people to give up the game.
The rewards are underwhelming compared to other card games. And considering that now, we have 3 expansions each year. it's even harder to keep up.
Possible solutions:
-Single player Adventures: like K&C dungeon, Witchwood Monster Hunt, etc... Why not reward players with some expansion packs instead of only a card back ?
-End of month Rewards: Also underwhelming rewards, with some ranks rewarding you just a bit more of dust. Plus, why not reward legend rank players with a legendary card ? (loyal player = Good reward), it's fair.
-Old, Wild set cards, (and adventures) should also be accessible with gold, some people want to try this mode, to get out of the "stale standard" but without spending "rivers of real money" it seems unlikely to most people to acess this mode now.
-Achievements, rewarding dust, cards or gold, this makes players busy, focused and interested on the game.
-New Game Modes: 2 Vs 2 mode or Tournament Mode ? Just do It, Blizzard !
Not asking for this game to be free or anything. But rewarding your players accordingly makes them more interested and willing to spend real money on it, learn this, Blizzard !
Also a side note: the Tutorial system for new players really need to be more insteresting or updated !
This is like asking what would get you to come back to home after they've burned it to the ground. Like, I dunno, I thought we were gonna make the home better and better but instead you've neglected it so long it's now a charred pile of nothing. What can you do? Rebuild it from the ground up. But, I don't think they have that ability/money or at the least certainly not willing to do what they have to. This shows in refusal to add auto-squelch, deck slots (I know I'm still super confused from the transition from 9 to 18) but surely 27 is doable? I can only play a few classes standard and wild because deck slots are so limited. I just don't really understand the reluctance to allow players to experiment with decks without deleted decks they already have. Yes they added copy paste or whatever I'm talking about deck slots people.

Tournament mode
the only thing i want to return back to heartstone is the ability to use this deck to play,
it was created over a year ago, but imo it's 100%
the deck is italian, but if you know the pictures you should already know what cards are in the deck
mage druid?
more rewarding system is the best thing that could actually get me playing more. 10g for 3 wins just means that i will only log for quests and thats it, no incentive to play. either make packs cheaper and dust cost decreased, or seriously up the rewards of playing.
Maybe make all wild cards half the cost to make. Its more justifiable since you don't actually sell those packs in the store anymore and gets people more interested in making new types of decks since they can afford the cost more.
