Dean Ayala Asks: What Would Get You Back Into Hearthstone?
Hearthstone's Dean "Iksar" Ayala had a question for those that used to main Hearthstone as a game but no longer do.
What do they need to do to get you back?
We're actually quite interested in knowing too. With many old Hearthstone players still frequenting our site to see what the game is up to or to chat with old friends, there has to be something the Hearthstone team could do to reel you back in?
Quote from Dean AyalaIf Hearthstone used to be your main game but isn't anymore, what would get you back?
Honor my dust/money investment. When you break archtypes and classes at a whim (Equality wrecked control Paladin, Druid has been destroyed), you destroy any trust I have in putting money into the game.
I literally made an account on this website just to tell you this.
HOW BOUT YOU SEND ME PHYSICAL COPYS OF THE CARDS CONSIDERING EVERY TIME I BUY PACKS YOU JUST NERF/RUIN THAT NEW SET AND ULTIMATELY FUCK OVER EVERYONE WHO PLAYS THE GAME CAUSE TO PLAY THE GAME TO HAVE TO BUY PACKS
WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU STOP ASKING FOR MORE MONEY YOUVE GOTTEN MORE THEN MAGIC THE GATHERING YET YOU CANT EVEN MAKE A GAME WORK WHEN YOU RELEASE IT!?!?!
I want additional ladders with different game rules (like brawls) and/or each set having their own ranked modes.
And buff the unplayable/trash cards PLEASE! its called the "Balance" team but all they do is nerfs, never buffs!
A yearly basic set that rotates similar to MTG would be great.
Tournaments would be great. Obviously.
My number 1 would be to make card adjustments every time an expansion is released. Take the info you have on tier 1 decks and adjust a key card accordingly. Then take the least used legends and give them a step up. Not only would this make for a better release, but would guarantee new cards for everyone as they would be able to play cards from day 1 that saw no play. Example would be Hir'eek, the bat .
2. Keep coming up with new mechanics. I'd like to see more attacking buffs. Flanking for example, cannot be blocked by taunt minions.
burrow. activated abilities for minions. Take 1 damage gain stealth.
You all lost me with the last surprise update and only giving refunds on specific cards nerfed.
I lost months of dust (aka money since I actually purchased packs) on creating decks that got 24 hours of usability.
Why would I sink time, money, and effort into a game that makes large deck-and-meta breaking changes completely unannounced?
You broke my trust to gain a few dollars.
Logging rewards...other games have them, and you don't even have to log every day cause the chain keeps going.
Less cost on legendary cards, or at less a bit more dust when you disenchant a legendary.
80 gold for a pack. 2 victories for 10 gold instead of 3, (or just one of those).
Let people farm gold in PvE Tavern Brawls.
Open the dungeon runs modes to all cards, and bring more arctypes for the classes (I always wanted to play Reno paladin, or C-thun shamman in dungeon run for example), and also like arena if you have the golden cards in your collection, the offerings after boss, give you the option to have golden cards.
....I can think more ideas, but...like i said i need to think.
OTK's have ruined the game!!!!!!!!
Hello, one of the things I would like to see implemented in the game is a spectator mode for the drafts in arena. One in which as a spectator you can click the card you would pick and it would Highlight on the player screen. You could even have mulriple highlight colors of for each spectator. It would make a fun and interactive experience.
I haven't played the game seriously for the past year and the only enjoyable moment I still have is when I'm with friends and all draft arena togheter and see it unfold.
Stop with the three expansions per year. Too expensive. Change one back to adventures. Adventures have fewer cards but they are all really great eg cost alot less.
New Class
More interaction and more powerful control tools. I play wild and the format is currently fucked by big priest, which is pretty much unanswerable if they get lucky once. If they cheat out one big creature it’s game over. The format needs stronger and more versatile answers, while also reducing the frequency of I-win cards (like the whole big priest deck).
I'd say, game modes. Hearthstone does a pitiful and I mean PITIFUL job of providing people options. Look at MtG. So many formats. Vintage for the hardcore oldschoolers, Legacy for the people who want their options but don't want to go as crazy as Vintage, then Modern, Standard, Pauper, Cube, Draft (multiple versions), EDH, Commander... What do we get in Hearthstone? Standard Ladder, Arena, Wild Ladder. Only three modes (Tavern Brawl doesn't really count cause it's a different "mode" every week, you can't "main" Tavern Brawl, really). Only THREE modes, yet the devs essentially cater to only one of those, and even then it's not where people want it to be. Arena gets its autoadjusting bucket system that keeps the mode going, and Wild barely gets noticed. Three modes, yet about one and a half of them get some decent support. Where's multiplayer? Where's tournaments?
What happens, when I'm growing tired of the ladder grind (be it in Standard or Wild...Wild in my case) yet don't like the randomness of Arena? I got nothing to play. Where do I go to goof around, have fun, be creative, have crazy games with crazy mixtures of decks? Certainly not ladder. Certainly not Casual, which, I mean...what's that even for? It's just another ladder except without points, it's not even a format. Where's my Commander equivalent, EDH equivalent, where I can stop worrying about the ladder points and just have a whacky melee between multiple people for the fun of it? Where's 2v2 or 3v3 or grand melee?
Hearthstone offers absolutely no options. You either ladder, or you draft, and that's all you get. That, I repeat, is pitiful.
The idea was pitched to them a long time ago, doubt they'll jump on it now.
It's sad
Why I don't play as much:
- Hearthstone has several Legendaries that are "Must have" in most winning deck types of that class (example Rexxar Hero)
- Key Mechanics are gated behind Legendaries (Quests and Legendary Weapons)
- Certain classes have dominated forever (Hunter) , and other ones are always behind (Shaman)
- The amount of legendaries in each set are really high, and it's really hard to get the ones you want outside of RNG/crafting. Some are fairly unplayable for the average user.
What would bring me back:
- Increasing the amount of Epic cards, and lowering the amount of Legendary (Cut down to one per class an expac, and move the other to Epic).
- Slowly do away with Evolve Shaman. Relook at Shaman as a whole, find what really fits the Shaman class and identity, and make some pretty serious changes in future expacs.
- No more Even/Odd or mechanics that limit over half of the card pool. These have really limited deck construction when used and causes issues with card balancing.
- Give up on Beast Druid. Most people that would want to play Beast Druid, are just playing Hunter instead.
- Make legend less about grinding, and more about win rate.
- Nerfs should be slight nudges, rather than huge changes. It's ok if there's more and they're done in more of a timely fashion. It's ok if a card is nerfed only because it's in ever deck and we're sick of seeing it.
I really like this idea. This brings back some feeling of "Dungeons and Dragons".
1. Tournament mode
2. Auto Squelch
3. More PvE
What would get me back into HS? People like you getting the fuck off. HS Team 5 are like amateur drivers driving a F1 car, because HS has everything to be at the top all the time (design, can be played on mobile, interesting LORE, etc), , but this people still manage to fuck up.
