Dean Ayala Asks: What Would Get You Back Into Hearthstone?
Hearthstone's Dean "Iksar" Ayala had a question for those that used to main Hearthstone as a game but no longer do.
What do they need to do to get you back?
We're actually quite interested in knowing too. With many old Hearthstone players still frequenting our site to see what the game is up to or to chat with old friends, there has to be something the Hearthstone team could do to reel you back in?

Game is not rewarding enough. I feel like I'm being sucked dry from my time/money to the point of insanity. I don't mind paying for entertainment, I earn well enough to buy packs or preorder before each expansion. I feel like every player should have full collection (if he invest fair amount of money (for those who want and can afford) or time (for free to play players)) before launch of next expansion. Players are stuck to meta decks, and cant afford to play fun decks because they don't have resources to spend.
1) increase daily reward in gold (make it at least 80 gold) and add dust to it.
1) Make single win worth 10 gold and 3 wins grants some extra dust.
2) Increase legendary/epic drop rate form packs (30 pack pitytimer would be still to high in my opinion)
3) decrease crafting cost by at least 25%
4) Add free packs to monthly rewards.
I spend each expansion 50-75E (one more thing, why punishing us for playing in EU? You really don't know USD≠Euro ?) and i find it outrageous, that it gives me around half of legendaries from set. How much should f2p spend time to get full collection of cards? 12-18h wouldn't be enough (take off daily gold limit, f2p players need that gold to have fun!). Offer us full content at decent price. (Aren't you ashamed ripping players off ?)
And more:
1) Make tavern brawls last full week.
2) Make nerfs and BUFFS to cards in between expansions, so mate stays fresh and healthy,
3) Add replay feature, so i can see both my and opponent hand and learn from my mistakes (bit like sc2 replays)
4) Add autosquelch option (how hard is it?)
I hope you read at least few of post in this thread. And draw some conclusions from what is written by your customers ("fanboy" time is over, and the faster you realise this the better it is for your company)
And one more thing, i forgot.
If you think, pricing is correct I would like to know officially, posted by "blues" how much money i need to spend to get full expansion from scratch?
Than we can evaluate, if that is fair price for a computer game.
3) I think it will be appropiate to get 1/2 of the dust value of the card(when dusting) instead of 1/4.
1) rewards above 500 wins (1000 wins platinum character or a new portrait, 2500 etc..)
2) new game modes (or adjustable game modes, player creatable tournament modes)
3) wild arena becomes a permanent thing
4) A monthly reward (200 wins in ranked mode for 1000 gold for example)
5) rotating classic set (like MTG) so you can play your old cards in standard...
and many many things more...
absolutly same for me! playing since beta, still missing many classic legs!!
A few things - make more tech cards that are worth a damn to actually play, and one for each matchup - make more cards like Loatheb to turn off combos, Hakkar to turn off Mechathun, Skulking Geist to turn off Jade Idols, Mossy Horror and spirit lash to smash tokens, Gnomeferatu to fight value decks, etc. It doesn't need to be as harsh as Skulking Geist, but just print more cards that are actually worth using for their intended purpose instead of a 2/1 that silences taunts.
Secondarily, and less importantly FIX THE DARN "NEW CARD" BUG. This has been here for 5 damn years and it still pops up every single expansion.
Ok I said discoverer before, but also jaina and rexxar dk, not more cards that gets you random extra cards and never try to stablish the way you need to play with each class like Jades or the missions

For me 3 things are essentials:
1) Fun game mods. 2vs2, 1 vs 4, etc. Mods that are permanent. Maybe put nefarian vs ragnaros is this category because its fun to play, but the chance to get it in brawl...
2) Real new stuff in expansion. I mean, new keywords are pretty lame those days. Overkill its just "kill with more attack than health the enemy minion have". I don't call that new stuff. What was new for me was Reno at his time, elemental mechanic, tri classes cards, hero cards, cthun, etc.
3) More rewards. For now, we win 10g for 3 wins and nothing for a lose. That makes people tryharding everywhere in the game just for gold, so not a lot of fun, even in non-ladder mod. If F2P players wants to have a decent collection they need to play everyday. Ok quests are good. But 3 wins for 10 golds with 100 golds maximum per day is madness. It means only one pack per day by playing extra time after finishing your quest. Meh. We need more rewards from playing, like a lvl and each lvl you reach you gain golds or dusts or packs or arena ticket. And delete this maximum 100 golds per day. And maybe give golds for loses too, for exemple: for 5HP your opponent is missing at the end of the game, you win 1 gold, because you sometimes fight so hard and it feels sad to win nothing as you were just surrendering turn 3.
I'm not playing HearthStone as I used to before. For me is just getting quests and free packs for now( I'm Playing since Curse Of Naxxramas).
The reason is that HearthStone has lost most of the creativity it used to have. I mean you could build anything from scratch. But now it's just about having some specific cards. Cards that are way ahead of other cards either tempo wise or value wise. examples I can recall are Patches The Pirate(Super tempo card), Jade Idols (infinite value), most of the death knights, Lich king (incredible stats and game winning card genrating), shuderwock, barns... some of the cards got nerfed but these were the cards that do their thing without much effort. so most of the decks get filled with such cards and we face similar game play every game and other cards slowly lose their effect. I mean it's been a while since we've lost ysera, deathwing, shadowform, even minions just with good stats.
I think game would be better if expansions don't have super powerful cards again like what knights of frozen throne offered, or infinite value cards like kings bane, death stalker rexxar, frost lich jaina and even anduin.
As it is said with limitation, comes creativity.
First off: A transparent monetization system! I imagine something where a set of 40 packs rotates on a daily basis, and you know which legendary will be in it. There might be more ofc, but at least you know what your gonna get, to some extend. Or you could get shown 5 cards packs each day, where you can hover over them and see the concent. Then they also rotate daily, and when you chose one with a Legendary (of course you will :), the timer resets, so you cannot game the system ;)
Secondly, like some have pointed out: A game mode, inspired by the awesome Tavern Brawl, where a set of 4 random Expansions/Sets rotate every month, and packs for that month are on a discount, so newer people will have a chance to participate.
Finally, bring back Ben Brode.... Just kidding, ofc, but man, that guy can get a message through :)

More single player compaigns. Maybe if you add something like Witcher Thronebreaker but in WoW world where you meet NPC and fight them through hearthstone card game. BUT it should be impemented in the hearthstone. I wont buy or download another game

Well I for one am still playing, still paying for all the bundles I can get my hands on, still trying to get to be a Legend player...

1) Return Adventure specific free cards (like before). Will push more players to buy the Adventures (previous post). No more Puzzles game mode!!!
2) Make a new tab in Arena, for 'with Wild cards', or 'plain Standard' cards. (previous post)
3) Have a Gold counter built-in, so I know if i have reached my quota of 100 g per day for winning battles. Better yet! Remove the 100g cap entirely, to promote continued gold gain mode, for those addicts out there! (previous post)
4) Offer all future adventures / expansions with Golden Hero avatars. Allow old Avatars to be free in other expansions that do not offer avatars.
5) Re-offer purchase of Wild Packs (3x a year; or before every Wild HS Open), since I have Legendaries that I want to possibly open from packs and not craft from dust. (previous post)
6) Achievement freebies (for technical plays is a good thing), class missions possible. Like, for Mage; Counter spell 50 spells --> Get 50 gold and 50 dust; Counter 100 spells --> Get 100 gold and 100 dust. Counter 200 spells --> Get 200 gold and 100 dust. Fin. (previous post)
7) Advanced Arena awards --> Get ten (12 wins) in Arena for free Golden Epic (between choice of three). Arena card back that evolves per season would be nice!
8) Longer Tavern Brawl period (hate it when have a quest to complete tavern brawl, but then it ends)

10) Add No duplicate Epic clause. (previous post)
11) Reduce Legendary per pack pitty timer (from 1:40 to 1:35 packs). Increase rate of Golden Legendary drop if pitty timer has been maxed (35-40 packs). (previous post)
12) For changes in Classic cards, give free Legendaries to new Players (above Rank 15-25). So they have enough dust to make something decent (like losing flame tongue totem and equality; their only classic cards that can make them actually win games)
13) Once a year, double pack gains from purchase in shop. (previous post)
14) Every week or month, one free Arena Ticket, for those who log in on for 7 consecutive days. (previous post)
15) Rewards for Retunrees, For those who were return after 1-2 month of not playing, get 1 free golden standard (1 day), 1 free golden rare (2nd day), 1 free golden epic (3rd day), 1 legendary (Random, from current expansion) (4th day).
16) Farming mode; vs AI, win gets 1 gold. Decks are random from Hero templates. OR have a Solo Hero mode vs AI (NPC). That has a SAVE button, or progression that can be saved!
17) Market option, For sale legendaries (3 legend to choose from / gold legend --> changes weekly) that can be bought with gold only.
18) Email monthly updates - currently happening, but to also reflect stats, against other decks, just like HSReplay style. (previous post)
19) Increase incentives for Arena (previous post) better prize for losing all 3 matches (0-3), eg. 1 pack and 40 gold.
20) For PC only, ability to watch games in 3D mode, where I can see opponent hero being attacked by 3D figure of my own creature. etc.
21) Game mode with Dust cap for Standard (new game mode) (previous post)
22) More filter codes, and post on-line (eg, mana:odd:epic) Filter all epic odd cards.
23) Stop creating trash epic cards (Ice cream vendor, which I bought to use as a Shudderwock combo, but has now become useless due to sardonite chain gang nerf!!!)
24) Increased dust reward for dis-enchanting cards for low ranking players (Rank 15-25 above).
25) More Daily Quest slots (possibly 5 slots) ^^
26) Return some Wild Legendaries to in Standard (that rotates out per 3 months). Legendaries to be returned to pool can be voted.
27) Make Brawliseum a permanent mode (Wild and Standard). No fee to enter, each player can run it just once per week or once a month. (previous post)
28) Tournament mode - I Fireside Gathering frequently and a hosting game mode can be done. I think it is built-in with the Fireside.
29) Tag team mode (but independent and not through the Tavern brawl) to beat the boss in the middle. Winning match levels you up in next stage with random ally.

For me its literlly the costs.
I bought some packs and adventures back in the day. When the rotation system staryed, and when blizzard killed decks with strategic nerfs that would render whole decks useless, i figured i needed to pay more and more money, or play daily to be able to keep making tier 1 decks.
1) achievements - i want more of them. Getting a golden hero after 500 wins is great but what happens after 1000 or 5000 wins?
2) i hate to see cards nerfed into oblivion and never see play again. Fiery waraxe, warsongcommander, charge went from the best cards to the worst cards. FWA was THE BEST weapon in a class where the weapons should be good and now paladin, hunter and rogue have even better weapons - it's a joke. Warsongcommander was a way to combo in warrior but not anymore - it's so bad. So there is that instead of nerfing cards like crazy give us a middleway where fwa could have deathrattle gain 3 armor or just something. I liked how the roguequest was nerfed. First one change and looked how it goes and was still to strong so it got nerfed again.
2.5 now this is a bit to the above but wild has some serious problems wich i want fixed. First it should be more accessible. Second i see classes like priest, warlock or paladin all the time because they have or got better cards over time than warrior. There is a reason why warrior gets those good cards in arena because all other cards are bad. Give warrior some love pls.
3 archetypes that are getting pushed should work after some expansionreleases. Enragewarrior after all this time still not viable?!
4 the cost is just way to high for what you get. Was disappointed in rastakan so i will not prepurchase the next expansion.
5 more skillbases games where just pressing the heropower over and over isn't rewarding
6 listen to the community by making some surveys. Ask what decks you play, what classes you play, what decks you liked to see, what cards you feel bad about, what ccards you love, what cards should be nerfed, what cards should be buffed or reverted, what archetypes you like or would like to see and the list goes on...
now i took my time not even knowing if anyone reads this but i hope you do and make the game better and again nerfing cards that were loved is horrible when they are not played anymore. Warsongcommander could be reverted and put into wild and i think it wouldn't even be that great and that sais something^^
I miss adventures cost and gameplay :( also It will be good if expansion every 6 months except. Really the game becoming more expensive with every expansion I can't keep up forever or dust should be reduced. I will move completely to different game :( especially now hero skins locked with preorders. I should make a monthly salary to hearthstone to keep up.
