Agree, I already said weeks ago they should be pre-Hall of Famed.
If you don't listen to the podcast don't say they didn't address genn and baku. They said it is priority that they come up with a solution by the rotation. And it is a priority.
Around the 30 minute mark Iskar addresses both sides of the argument to the basic/ classic nerfs , and it’s pretty reasonable explanation.
Around 37-40 min mark is when he talks about designing new cards and how they do take into consideration Genn & Baku which does require them to design around.
He mentions that they could make odd warriors power 3 armor or odd Paladin summon a 2/2 but then it couldn’t be a silverhand recruit but then you run into the issue of we’ll how do you change even shaman’s totem hero power ect ..
They’re trying to solve it before the new expansion comes out , but it’s not as simple as turning the power level knob up or down.
Admitted that the power level of Even Paladin & Even Shaman was initially overlooked.
In the short term future if you like dirty rat style cards then you’re going to be happy.
Barnes - when a deck is really popular it correlates to being powerful this isn’t anything new , basically people really like playing fun decks like big priest and they’re protective of those decks in wild , but it’s not as generally as consistent as Naga Sea Witch . Classes have more ways to deal with Barnes then they did with the NsW turns. It’s popular but not powerful , it’s not a balance concern. It’s a feels concern , and the data shows people lose a lot with it, but also have fun.
If you removed Barnes from Big priest it doesn’t remove the Resurrection aspect.
They think changes based on the future of the game not the present.
They truly do talk the most about Genn, Baku & Barnes ,but nothing to report
Oh and Regiskillbin doesn’t really get a chance to say much , just sits there looking pretty.
This is just what I digested from it.
So expect more nerfs before the new expansion.
I don't want to listen the usual verbosity. Did they say anything important?
For those interested they started talk about Baku and Genn at 37:25 .
Can we please have a summary?
Since it's a dev speaking there, I think we deserve it.
nobody cares now. they didn't address Genn Baku issue, nerfed 2 times classic cards to compensate for it, and now Auto Chess and Apex Legends are taking the gaming world by storm.
Lets wait for rotation and wait to see what happens. either Genn Baku get nerfed or a core rotation is needed to avoid power spikes impact evergreen cards.
get to work
Much of the reason for the "excitement" about Auto Chess is that until the new HCT competitive format is announced (mid Feb) and set in place, players have no incentive to push for high ladder finishes.
And while I don't know if Auto Chess is netting streamers money, streamers are often paid to play new games. And the $$$ can be very significant.
Auto chess is a great game but I doubt its hear to stay. And yes it is important to here there process on why baku and genn aren't nerfed
He said they are looking to solve the odd/even problem before next expansion....
