Peter Whalen & Dean Ayala Showcase Old Rastakhan's Rumble Card Designs
IGN's Cam Shea had a chance so sit down with Peter Whalen and Dean Ayala of the Hearthstone team to talk about the designs of cards in Rastakhan's Rumble. We've got some interesting pre-release versions of some of our favourite cards, and cards that's straight up never made it! Check them out below.
Pooof, shield slam. Or Meteorite.
Man, "can't attack or be attacked" is a really weird rider that favors spell based removal. Really glad they changed it. Also interesting that they had to reiterate upon Shaman and Warrior loa - to the point where the live cards have almost nothing to do with these versions.
The temporary cards was better than the final release in my opinion.
But so broken
It's crazy how Kripparrian was the temporary artwork for Jan'alai, the Dragonhawk
Nha man, it must be his clean twin brother ; beard's too neat ^^
So you're saying it might be Brotherrian? Photoshop is a thing, you know?
quite lame effects in my opinion..
Hir'eek was good…
Any of those versions were better than the actual one.
It's funny (and yet, quite expected) how many of these was made into minions or shrines in the Rumble...
Balance designers: This is too OP!
Adventure designers: Thanks!
Except those designers are not on seperate teams at all and sometimes a mistake slips through. Hello there Undertaker!
Well, there's a different director for each team, so I'd assume while devs might be on both teams at certain points, there are people more devoted to adventures in general.
Gonk, the Tree. Best temporal art :D
The fact that they even considered to print Bethekk makes me question a lot of things.
Why, what's so special about Bethekk
Shudderwock
Hir'eek was almost Animated Armor v2.0 lol.
Bethekk lul ... an in shaman no less.
"My jaws that bite! My claws that deal 10 damage to every enemy once again!"
