Keeping Hearthstone Fresh - The HearthPwn Deck Building Challenge
Over the past couple of week's we've been running a just-for-fun challenge on our forums to bring out great deck building. We started out with a challenge and the first person to complete it got to choose the next one. We're going to list of some of the challenges we've seen so far, which you're welcome to attempt and share your results with us, and the most recent one.
If you want to take part in the fun, keep in mind:
- The challenges must be completed at rank 19 or higher for the first 12 hours. After that all ranks count.
- The creator of a challenge can't participate for the first 24 hours, but is free to post pointers to others at any time.
- You have to win by lethal or well reasoned concede, disconnects and auto-concedes do not count.
- Post proof consisting of your deck and screenshots showing your lethal and rank after completion, replay or video of your game and the #number of the challenge you completed.
More rules can be found in the Deck Building Challenge thread. All completions of challenges must be posted in that thread and everyone is asked to read the rules over carefully to avoid issues.
Most Recent Challenge - Guns and Roses
This may be performed with any class in any game format.
Your deck must contain 10 cards with firearms and 10 cards with flowers in their card art. All guns, cannons and futuristic ranged weapons are allowed. Bows, crossbows and other mechanical weapons do not count, nor do plants without visible flowers.

Good Luck Out There!
Keep Hearthstone fresh with new ways to build decks and have some fun. Read up on all the rules and old challenges in the deck building challenge thread and be sure to also share with us when you complete challenges (even the old ones as long as you properly indicate it was old!). You can also share your completions here in the comments below, but they won't be eligible for first completion credit.
No, only if a challenge goes unresolved for 48 hours, the creator retires the challenge or the person who completes the challenge does not post a new one within 2 hours.
Completing challenges is fun, though! You will often throw some crazy curveballs at your opponents!
When FANSITES (and resources!) have to take steps to keep the game fresh, you know you have a major problem.
I scrolled down here to comment basically the exact same thing. Took the words right out of my mouth.
Neat idea. Someone has to make the game fresh is blizzard wont.
When does the next challenge start? Is there a thread up for it yet?
Can I post a challenge if I haven't completed any?
This sounds super cool!
So happy that there is a thread like this, maybe soon someone will even beat my record! Good luck if you participate!! It's a ton of fun
This game totally needs achievements.
Big shoutout to fluxflashor for coordinating/organising!! It's definitely created an element of fun to the game. Especially for someone like myself who refuses to neteck
No credit needed, it's all on SlydE. He came up with the idea and makes sure people are following the rules along with keeping the OP updated. I just needed to shine some light on it :D
Can't believe I didn't know about this before! Will definitely participate in future, just need to get to a ranked floor first...
Thanks for sharing!
Dear Blizz,
Watch and Learn...
if blizzard is watching we know what the next solo content are going to be...
this way of playing could only work as a achievement system.
But Blizzard should look out to other games and take inspiration for some of the formats there, and if they do not want to implement them, then at least test them in brawl.
Personally I like to see them do pauper, and Basic + 3 random expansion/adventure (this one could even be fun to have in seasons, constantly changing)
EXACTLY! I am waiting for a game mode like this since the beginning. With this and upfront banning - this week you can't use cards X,Y,Z. Another week you can't use A,B,C etc. It's not that hard to do... Even bots could roll for banned cards. They could be banned by theme.. mana cost whatever. Still too hard for small india company because we guys do not have a phone!
Isn't that exactly tavern brawl? Some specific rules applied to deck building. Tavern brawl most of the time is a bit boring, so I think it is not really that easy to implement it right. Otherwise I agree that this is very interesting idea for challenges and building some specific decks.
I believe they wanted Brawls to be that kind of mode but that simply doesn't work. Especially when most of Brawls can be won by using standard decks. Most. Some of course are more challenging and require some thought process but I kinda do not like the idea at all. I can't remember the Brawl that I played more than once. Maybe the bosses one? But that's before I knew all their combos so it was just to learn what they do.
They can upgrade Brawl to be that kind of mode, I do agree but they are meddling with rules of the game with Brawls, not card restriction themselves. F.e. they will tell you that you deathrattles will proc twice but not say that you can't use battlecry cards. It's subtle but still different.
Keeping the game fresh with creative mini-games :D
cool idea, thanks for sharing.
