Ben Brode's Second Dinner Funded, New Office, Working On Marvel Title
In a video update today, Ben Brode alongside Hamilton Chu, Yong Woo, Jomaro Kindred, and Michael Schweitzer announced that Second Dinner is funded and ready to hire a team! For their first title they're partnering with Marvel.
They're currently looking for a Unity Client Engineer and a Technical Artist.
Apparently, Second Dinner got a $30 million minority investment from NetEase, the company doing the mobile Diablo game.
I love how this is the latest news in HearthPwn for the last 4 days, and it's not even HS related :D
Just hope it ain't a shitty mobile game. If it is, this announcement should be written on toilet paper. (Get it? Because most mobile "gamers" play on the crapper?)
You could have just said 'mobile game' since that immediately indicates the inferior nature of them. Also don't anyone clap back about HS being mobile, the inferior mess that is the mobile version will never waste memory on my phone, kthx.
Oh, that's an easy one. Because mobile "games" are not games. They are just an easy way to get money. Everything is locked behind $$$$$$ grabs and the actual "game" is minimal if you don't pay. Basically, they are credit card vortexes, not real games. The sad thing is, this disease is afflicting current PC games too. Thankfully the community hates most of those "games".
PS. Mobile "gaming" is not a thing. It's what you do when you are on the crapper.
TFW you realize Hearthstone is a mobile game.
Why the fuck are people downvoting you? This is nothing but the truth.
Well with their past experience and almost all there being part of team 5 I would feel safe to assume we are going to get a Marvel themed CCG.
Which could be fun if Brode doesn't make the same mistakes he made with Hearthstone. He left Blizzard with Hearthstone not in good shape at all in relation to powercreep and the overall inbalance of the game. He was slow to nerf cards and make adjustments. I know there is a lot of love for Brode but professionally speaking he did make a lot of mistakes and they really started showing the more the game went on.
Also with the Marvel title they are developing - they didn't get hired by Marvel - they bought a license to make a Marvel game.
You know, there is already "Marvel Trading Card Game".
You know there was a warcraft card game before hearthstone right? And that multiple card games have both physical and digital products running concurrently?
But MTCG is digital.
tube atmosphere in their studio, i miss to Bennassi :Kappa:
can someone please clarify something, why do people not want a mobile game? i mean, if your going to play on your laptop one way or another, then why would you care if someone is playing on their phone or not?
Glad this community still update about beloved Brode :D <3
Can't wait. I wonder if they put Heroes like Capt. America, Thor, Loki, Hulk, Black Widow etc. as your starting player just like the 9 heroes in HS. And I do hope they do better in terms of marketing strategy in cards than Artifact or on par with Hearthstone.
Wish them luck
The entire comic industry is built on niche characters. Hulk doesn’t generally have the same readers as Catwoman who doesn’t have the same readers as Constantine. When designing a game to appeal to masses of people you probably shouldn’t ignore the ‘niche’ draw of including cult characters. Those niches can be millions of potential customers.
I mean... you’re wrong about the sales entirely.... https://www.bleedingcool.com/2018/08/31/ms-marvel-sold-half-million-trade-paperbacks/
Very true. Also, i believe its more complex then just targeting a niche audience. For example, Superman is probably my least favorite hero, but i LOVE how Superman interacts with other superheroes in the Justice League.
Marvel mobile card game would be BAD455!!
Marvel Super Hero Squad card game?
Battlescenes?
It already exist card games from Marvel, but not mobile. It's actually a good idea.
