Hearthstone World Championships Start November 2
ESports at BlizzCon this year is going to be starting early! Starting October 31 and ending November 2, some of the BlizzCon eSports events will be partially played out in the ESL Burbank Studio, casted live on Twitch. Hearthstone games will start at 10 AM PDT on Sunday, November 2. You can find more Hearthstone related information below, or head on over to the full blog post for info all games.
Quote from BlizzardOne weekend can’t contain all of this year’s BlizzCon eSports action. With the StarCraft II World Championship Series Global Finals, Hearthstone World Championship, and World of Warcraft Arena World Championship all culminating this year at BlizzCon 2014, we needed an extra weekend to squeeze in all of the competitions—and to make sure everyone has a chance to take in as many of the tournaments and events during BlizzCon as possible.
That’s why this year, the global finals for all Blizzard eSports tournaments will get underway a week early at a special World Championship Opening Weekend event taking place at ESL’s Burbank, CA studio October 31 through November 2. There, we’ll be hosting the first rounds of the StarCraft II WCS Global Finals, Hearthstone World Championship, and World of Warcraft Arena World Championship global finals. Of course, you’ll be able to watch it all live online beginning October 31 on our Twitch World Championship Series, Hearthstone, and World of Warcraft channels.
After this action-packed weekend of Blizzard eSports takes place, the global finals for each game will continue at BlizzCon 2014 on November 7 and 8.
Each of the 4 dual-tournament groups in the Round of 16 will compete on November 2. Based on the results of the matches, 4 of these players will advance to the Round of 8 bracket (played at BlizzCon November 8), while the deciding matches of each group will be played at BlizzCon.
You’ll also be able to watch coverage of the BlizzCon opening ceremony and all of the StarCraft II, Hearthstone, World of Warcraft, and Heroes of the Storm matches taking place at BlizzCon for free in HD at www.blizzcon.com. The StarCraft II finals will also be available to watch via the official WCS website.
Deck Talk: Icegirl's Copperfield
In today's episode of Deck Talk, TheChiv had IceGirl, a veteran of the online tournament scene, on the show to discuss her Mage deathrattle tempo deck. The deck revolves around making efficient trades with your opponent to exhaust their resources so you can go in for the win. Kel'Thuzad makes an appearance in this deck which can make for incredibly efficient trades in the late game if needed, and you've also got the essential Sludge Belcher to slow the game down and annoy your opponent.
Check out the deck discussion vod below where TheChiv and Icegirl discuss the deck in detail, or if you'd like to give the deck a shot right away, you can find that down there too.

Love how she try to make Kel'Thuzad work in all her decks (spoiler: It doesnt work)
A mage without ice block!! -slow claps-
nice looking deck indeed
I'd never heard of Icegirl before. Ever. Good work on highlighting some unknowns, Chiv, and bringing attention to them.
Who else has been following the Americas qualifiers???
I have!!!
Very interesting. Still prefer sunwalker to sludgebelcher any-day though.
It's nice that they made a deathrattle minion that could replace shieldmasta/sunwalker for deathrattle themed decks, but I prefer sunwalker in most decks that don't have a deathrattle theme. Also the 5 spot can already feel heavy with the legendaries added from Naxx. It's really only running priest or shaman that sunwalker makes my 6 cost slot feel heavy.
The deck looks nice, I might try it. But I think double Dublicate would fit better. Someone an idea what to replace for it?
If you absolutely must pull out a card for a second Dupe, I'd pull one of the Loot Hoarders. Loot Hoarder is 2 damage and 1 card draw while Dupe is -1 card for the opponent, potentially still putting damage on the board, and 1 card added to your hand without thinning your deck.
