"Discover is an ability that presents the player with a choice of three different pseudo-randomly selected cards. The player then chooses one of the cards, which is then generated and added to the player's hand"
Cards like this Cloning Device properly mentions it and is clear of what it does. (Although it shouldn't mention "copy" if it's mentioned in keyword)
Hallucination This one has the same effect but isn't limited to minion yet doesn't specify it makes a copy.
Hydrologist Secret Plan Those doesn't specify it's from your own class, even if it's a class card, it should.
Blazing Invocation Dark Possession Same text as those above but now it's not limited to your class, very clear.
If they wanted it to be clear it should have been "Discover a minion in your deck. If all 3 are Beasts, draw them all instead."
They have no consistency and they are FAR from being very clear with their wording. If it was the case, you wouldn't have so many people being clueless on how a card work until they see it played out.
Hearthstone cards text are probably the worse I've seen from the many TCG I've played, it's awful.
Their wording is fine.
It's important for Cloning Device to make this distinction because it involves a player's deck, so it lets the players know that the original is still in there.
This isn't necessary for Hallucination since it is discovering from cards that are outside of the match (and as such can't be removed from the match).
Hydrologist shouldn't say it's from your own class because that would not be an accurate description. It's better the way it is printed. If you are Priest and you play this card, you will discover from Paladin secrets. If you are Mage and you play this card, you will discover from Mage secrets. So you can't add on things like "Discover a Secret from your own class" or "Discover a Paladin secret" because that would not be accurate with what the card does. The same would roughly apply to Secret Plan if a non-secret class or alternative secret class had it.
And for the record, discover's ingame tooltip is "Choose one of three cards to add to your hand.", it doesn't say that it always had to be generated. The wording for this card is consistent with this description, people are only confused because it is the first time Discover is being used to add the original card of a player's deck rather than a copy.
Book of Specters, but probably easier to not-miss.
Here's what I don't know: discover if only one beast, but draw if they're all three beasts? I guess I just don't know what happens to your deck, due to a language mismatch.
I'm not sure but I guess it work in this way.
Shadow Visions says "Discover a copy" while this card doesn't. So maybe it means that you choose the card you want to draw and, if all the options are Beasts, you have a 3-mana draw 3.
So, we have to focus on the fact that the keyword Discover isn't followed by "a copy", so you'll straight get the card you put in your deck.
First they push a spell-based deck, then a minion based. Props to the designers.
p.S.: Kibler will love this
Guess who just got card draw?
Baku Hunter.
Is that a real draw mechanic for hunter??? What sorcery is this????
Quest Hunter approves
i've never seen discover show 3 of the same card though. can it?
That's fine, I'll take Carnassa's Brood, Tundra Rhino and Corridor Creeper.
I think It can mate, check some Quest Hunter videos If you still has Amy doubt.
Nice way around giving Hunter card draw. You don't want Hunter to have straight up card draw to access direct damage spells, or Face Hunter would be broken. By making it only draw minions, you don't give Hunter much access to their direct damage while giving them the ability to keep going in a longer game with a beast-based midrange deck. The upside over Stitched Tracker in straight up beast decks is great, creates different options for different decks without making either card obsolete.
Horribly written, but an insane card nonetheless.
I believe how it works is the first part is like stitched tracker then if it happed to be that all three options are beasts u draw them from your deck rather than discover one of the 3. Correct if you think im wrong tho.
Stitched Tracker discovers a copy, this draws the original.
Yes but not completely: all the minions in your deck have to be Beasts in order to make this card work, so there is a limitation
this works just exactly like Stitched Tracker , but if the 3 options are beasts, you get the 3 cards as a copy.
So this expansion, we are riddled with inconsistencies in card text. Do you actually draw it? Or is it discovered/copied? Which is it??? Discover gives you a copy, but if they're all beasts, you draw them? Next we are probably going to be told that it is drawn, regardless of what you discover. If that is the case, then the card text should read "Discover a minion from your deck, draw it. If they are all beasts, draw them all" If they're all copies, then it should read "Discover a minion from your deck. If they are all beasts, keep them all"
Discover a minion from your deck. If all three minions are beast (for example you have only beasts in your deck) you will not get one of them but all three. Imagine something like Omega Assembly.
