This Week We're Creating Spooky Scary Skeletons Cards in Our Design Competition
Entries are open for this week's Card Design Competition! This week's theme is "Spooky Scary Skeletons".
Competition-Specific Restrictions:
- Your card must feature a skeleton of some kind, and/or utilize the various Skeleton tokens.
- That's it! Your card doesn't have to be Halloween-related, but we wouldn't be upset if it was :P
- Current examples include: The Skeleton Knight, Skelemancer, Bone Baron. Rattling Rascal, Fossilized Devilsaur, Bonemare, and Bone Drake.
For a full list of the rules, you'll need to enter, head on over to the submission thread. Don't forget, you can only submit one card into the competition and you must submit your card in the submission thread for it to be a valid submission - the news post comments don't work! It should also be noted we have a dedicated thread for you to discuss this week's entries, so if that's your cup of tea, head on over to the discussion thread.
nice cards
Does boner count as a Skeleton?
PUT YOUR HANDS TOGETHER FOR THE SKELETON IN A DRESS: Bloodmage Thalnos
The article is from 2002. Maybe it was not actually written law, but if WotC says they were forced by the Chinese government to change it, I pretty much believe them. It costs them money to change art, so they would not have done it just for giggles, I assume.
Update: I got the links working, but damn, i though the borders on the cards was transparent.
I guess since you only get one chance to edit your post in the submission thread, i am screwed.
Oh well. So can you make the cards border transparent in hearthcards, or do i have to use a photoeditor of some kind?
Hey guys, First time trying to submit a card to the competition.
I have made the card but i must be doing something wrong, the imgur link does not work in my post.
I read the rules and clicked on the image symbol left of the video symbol, as the guide says.
It asks for source, description and dimensions. i put in source and typed name of card in description. i did not type in dimensions.
I only get a broken image link symbol in the post, and when i post only the name of the cards shows in post.
What am i doing wrong here? :)
It used to be a law, apparently.

This absolutely doesn't say anything.
There is no reference to an actual source, with a legitimate claim for such a censorship.
There is no law about it, and Skeletons are not censored for any reasons, except for the potential that some people won't like it because the general population is rather... superstitious. Which is also why they, in general, prefer not to use the word 4, as it sounds very similarily to the word Death. (Both sound a lot like you're saying "si")
Genuine question: why are the news posts, like this one, so delayed compared to weekly card design competition threads?
Well, the two main goals of these posts are:
Both of these goals need the post to be quite late.
The longer I look at this GIF, the louder the xylophones get.
Chinese censor be like : '' ... but no skulls & bones''
Just want to point out that there is nothing about Chinese censorship that says anything about skeletons, blood or bones.
All alternations that have been made in games, (Including World of Warcraft, Dota, and Hearthstone) have purely been by the choice of the companies themselves, as there are some potential minor misconceptions that they just prefer to avoid. Heck, there are even several Chinese games that features skeletons.
Several of the Skeletons artworks in Hearthstone in the Chinese versions still show bones, but a few of them have the bones a little more covered up.
(Yes, i know i'm a killjoy)
More bread and boxes please
I hope not a level 6! :D
