The Headless Horseman Rides is This Week's Brawl!
It's time to battle the Headless Horseman! We'll arm you with the finest Hallow's End costumes Azeroth has to offer.
Trivia
- This is the second time we've seen this brawl.
- The first time we saw this brawl was on October 25, 2017 for last year's Hallow's End event.
- The brawl is a part of the Hallow's End Hearthstone Event for 2018.
- This is a PvE brawl, no player opponent this time! Your opponent is the Headless Horseman.
- Passive hero powers are in use for the player, a rarity!
Choose Your Costume
You get to choose a costume to wear on your first turn. This gets rid of your Stormwind Champions and draws you a new hand.
- Witch Costume - Your hero power is Witchcraft. Your deck is based on spell synergies.
- Pirate Costume - Your hero power is Conscript. Your deck is based on pirate synergies.
- Cat Costume - Your hero power is Sense Weakness. Your deck is based on beasts and kitty things like Claw.
Each deck is predetermined. These were last year's decks, they may be the same this year (Validation incoming)

The Fight
- The Headless Horseman starts off with 30 Health. His hero power, Slash, deals random damage to your side of the field.
- Many of the cards in the Headless Horseman's deck are able to deal AoE damage to you - gross!
- After defeating the Headless Horseman, he removes his head (Headless Horseman's Head), a 2/35 minion.
- His head deals 2 damage randomly split to your side of the field at the start of each of his turns.
- Destroying the head, as indicated on the card text, wins you the game.

Discuss This Week's Brawl
Head on over to our dedicated discussion thread over on our Tavern Brawl forum.
comic sans really suits this brawl
7 tries. Cat was key. Infest and don't summon final boss until you have board control and he wastes his BS kill under 4.
I had a luck with Witch.
LOL! The nub salt is so real for this tavern brawl. This is what happens when pseudo-intellectuals get their intelligence called in to question from a challenging tavern brawl. "This tavern brawl makes me look stupid, so it's crap and the bliz dev team must obviously be on crack." I love the complaining about the Rng the most. IT'S A TAVERN BRAWL! THATS EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE MADE FOR! OP COMBOS AND RNG THAT WOULD NORMALLY BREAK STANDARD! We get to try out stupid broken combos and play wild Rng because it's only around for 5 days...Btw took me like 5 or 6 games to beat him but it was fun and actually challenged my mind (which you should want).
Well said. The real problem is that people were afraid that they were made to "work" for their freebie and also were afraid that they won't get it at all.
another stupid brawl
God this brawl is terrible. I'm trying since a hour on sunday morning to win. I'm wasting my time.
Especially for a shitty core pack... not worth the time
Yep, I'm giving up on the pack this week for the first time ever. It's way too frustrating after 6-7 tries. Not worth it. His deck is way too good with way too much board clear and removal.
I won on my 2nd attempt with Pirate deck. Murloc that grows after you play a pirate is crucial.
He always has Shadow Word: Death saved for it, because the rest of your minions are trash and never go over 5 attack.
I hate stupid brawls like this where the only way to win is to keep playing again and again until the right cards come up. Instead I start the game with cards that can't be played until you get to turn 6. Meanwhile he has every perfect card on curve. Such a pain in the @$$.
I throw out Spirit Wolves on turn 3 or 4 and he counters every single time with a spell to kill all minions with less than 4 attack. And then on turn 5 I have only 3 mana and can't play anything at all because all 7 of my cards cost more than 3 mana...while he's got 3 minions on the board and builds more on turn 6. Waste of time.
Gj blizzard, another stupid brawl.
You need so much luck to win this. It's beyond skill, it's just full rng. I can't do ANY combo with Witch unless the horseman remains with no cards in his hands.
The horseman has too much removable and he has exactly what he needs to clear the board and play something. I also feel like his hero power is hitting how he wants.
I don't understand how they can relase a rng tavern brawl, this is not fun at all. The only thing you can hope for is to draw like a god with any class..
Can't poison the undead, huh? How about Doom?
Choose cat > Infest > warlock discover-a-spell beetle > Doom (after going headless) = win :)
So,
A brawl is either too easy, too unimaginative, too hard, too repetitive, too random, to not-worth-the-pack...
Have you people ever thought about self reflection? The brawl was hard but I won anyway after about 6 games. Which is better than winning after one game and not coming back to it. The theme was nice also. Sure, there is the aspect of random draws. And there is the chance of winning dramatically as well. Grow a pair and quit whining. Enjoy fun things. Your glass is half full, not half empty. Refrain from 3 year old behaviour and just enjoy life and games in general,
For those saying this was a poorly designed brawl I would have to disagree. It's a very good representation of ladder with polarized matches where your decisions don't matter and most games are based on draw order RNG.
I applaud Blizzard's efforts 4 trying to push their player base away until they figure out how to make this game fun & playable again.
I give up! This isn't a puzzle, it's a Death March. Beating the Headless Horseman makes me no better a card player than shaking a box of intricate watch parts until everything aligns back together makes me a watchmaker.

3 times witch, easy win
Well, it is much better once you get accustomed with both your deck and what The Horseman can play.
i.e. as the Witch: just Control and trade until he's out of cards, try and save Big Taunts for next phase;
and then overwhelm with Molten Reflection & Spirit Echo of Bog Creeper, Ironbark Protector, White Eyes, The Storm Guardian.
Played about 12 games for my first win. You basically need a lot of luck to have something to play on turn 1-3 and avoid bord clears at the worst possible moments. TLDR: pick cat
Pirate - Almost guaranteed loss unless you get VERY lucky
Witch - Somewhat guaranteed loss unless you get very lucky
Cat - Decent chance at winning, but only if you get lucky
