October Card Nerfs Are Now Live!
The Hearthstone patch with this month's set of balance changes is now live. Three beloved cards have received cost increases and can now be disenchanted for their full value for the next two weeks.
- [Discuss this Change] Giggling Inventor now costs 7, up from 5.
- [Discuss this Change] Mana Wyrm now costs 2, up from 1.
- [Discuss this Change] Aviana now costs 10, up from 9.

Honestly I am so confused by the mana wyrm nerf. Warriors are gaining 40 armor per game. Druids are at 10 mana on turn 6, but yeah mage having one moderately strong deck that snowballs 1 out of 30 games is the problem. Seems like every class but mage has multiple viable decks as well. But what do I know..
Why is there no nerf of the flavor text of Red Mana Wyrm?
I still dont have nerfes live on EU but I was able to buy pack with new Paladin hero. Anyone knows how to get update?
The hearthstone developers should kick baku and gen to wild early if they want to make the meta change...

Juicy Psychmelon is still useful in triple win condition druid (Azalina/Togwaggle, Malygos, Mecha'thun). But now Aviana-Kun will not be readily available as often...and requires an extra mana from a coin, innervate, or lowering mana cost effects.
Giggling Inventor died an unfortunate death. It might still see play depending on the deck. Perhaps something better will come along as most egregious and powerful cards do come mostly from the Third Expansion of each year.
That feeling when you get another Giggling Inventor from a pack and sigh, just to recall it's now worth 100 dust for a period.

Sometimes I wish they'd do more of a shuffle than a nerf. For Mana Wyrm , wouldn't it have been interesting if instead of just raising the cost by 1, they had turned it from a 1 mana 1/3 into a 2 mana 1/4. They'd raise the cost by one, give it one more health... Would that be worse, better, or the same? It would be interesting to look at. Maybe they'd need to nerf it again. But by just adding one to the cost, it seems lazy and it's certainly saying "this card was too powerful as it was, and the best we can do is raise the cost to make it worse."
In some cases bumping the cost up without any other changes would be the best course of action, and I'm not saying the Mana Wyrm nerf was wrong, but aren't there more interesting ways to do these things?
It wouldn’t solve the problem. Problem is not that it is 1 mana, problem is that you don’t have good answer for it in same mana slot... 2 mana 1/4 could be still a problem as there is no good way to deal 4 damage on turn 2 still...
What Trimutius said, it's hard enough to remove a 3-hp minion on turns 1-2, removing 4-hp minion on turns 2-3 would be just as hard. If anything, a better argument would be to change it to 1/2 minion while keeping the cost at 1 mana. Although I definitely agree that raising mana without consideration of atk/health is a bad idea (it basically killed Giggling Inventor). In the case of Giggling, they should have at least buffed the middle minion to 3/2 to make up for the excessive mana cost of 7.
