Discuss This Week's Brawl
Head on over to our forums for our dedicated tavern brawl discussion thread!
You mean like the servant of Yogg-Saron tryouts brawl that we already had a few times? Most brawls involve a lot of RNG and that just makes Felicias complain here on the posts. You can't please everyone.
It's hard to design a game that doesn't incentivize winning at all and would still be fun in the long run for a large audience, but brawls (mostly) do that fine. I have like 60+ brawl games every month (well over what as a super casual player I play ranked), including the last one with the Spiders Everywhere brawl that I really dislike.
My first brawl: No idea whats going on... won playing Azalina on T2... TURN 2!
Idea is great, not being able to pick the boss is great, diversity is great, balance is not
As others have said balance isn’t perfect and some match ups just aren’t gonna be great but overall I’m having more fun with this one than any other recent brawls.
As usual, Blizzard has a trouble balancing the classes, but hey, the brawl was pretty fun.
On a side note, I have never actually fought Plaguemaster on a Monster Hunt. It sure was a suprise for me to play as him.
Agree to disagree. Considering the lackluster offerings of recent weeks, this brawl is a significant improvement.
The Brawl is fresh and cool and fun - I like it. But, as always, balance is complete garbage. Some bosses are just way too OP compared to others.
Did anyone manage to win with Amalgame?
P.S. At least they FINALLY realized that when they won't bother to make it balanced, then the hero pick should be random - otherwise we would have been seeing just two classes again.
I managed to win with Amalgame against a trading uhh… "murloc guy with hero power draws 3 murlocs".
I lost against Amalgam as Tobtock. There's only so many ways for Tobtock to respond to getting his enormous Curio Collector Amalgamated at the last minute. Shadow Word death the first one, Mind Control the second, die to the third. Why the deck has three Amalgamates is beyond me.
Amalgam is nuts when you can ramp into Amalgamation against something like CHupacabran
I personally dislike this brawl. Some of the bosses are way too strong compared to other ones, meaning there are matchups that you just plain and simple cannot win resulting in insta concedes every now and then.
EDIT: Especially the boss with Spreading Plague, Twisting Nether, etc is totally awful to play against, feels like facing druid in constructed.
RNG is fun… This is one for the books!
The randomly assigned decks work well compared to last week’s selected decks. Allows for more variety and fun this way.
this brawl is better than normal game
The Brawl is great, though I would like tp get a special reward for Halloween's Brawl, like an Headless Cardback... Nice Brawl overall
poison fatigue lock dude is actually pretty fun. was against the centurion so there were some cool interactions.
I really like that you don't pick classes. Random brawls should not allow you to pick classes, then we won't have everyone playing mage or whatever the strongest one happens to be. Team 5 gets something right for a change.
true dat
Any idea how the bosses correlate to the standard classes in regards to gold? I played the Brushwood Centurion in my first brawl, but got a second "win" notification for some reason...
The Centurion has a lot of warrior cards (Amani Berserker, Cleave, Whirlwind, etc.), so he's probably warrior.
At the beginning when the two portraits of the bosses come out it says in small letters under the boss’ name the class they are. Plaguemaster and Blood Witch are warlocks.
Thanks for the info!
I just queued up a bunch of games to see the breakdown. Here are the results:
Azalina Soulthief = warlock
Blood Witch Gerta = warlock
Brushwood Centurion = warrior
Chupacabran = druid
Experiment 3C = shaman
Plaguemancer Rancel = warlock
Shudderwock = shaman
Wharrgarbl = shaman
Winslow Tobtock = priest
And the numbers by class:
hunter, mage, paladin, rogue = 0
druid = 1
priest = 1
warrior = 1
shaman = 3
warlock = 3
