When we first saw the Art of Hearthstone book back in April of last year, we were expecting to see it that October. Here we are one year later and Blizzard has confirmed that the book will be coming out next week on October 15. That's not the only thing worth mentioning though.
- The book releases October 15 worldwide.
- There are 1000 copies of the book that are "Limited Edition".
- The LE books are signed by the dev team and features a leather cover.
If you want to pick yourself up a copy of The Art of Hearthstone, you can do so over on Amazon for around $40 USD. If you want to wait and snag one of the Limited Edition copies for $125 USD, you'll need to go through the Blizzard Gear Store (availability TBD) or at BlizzCon where they will have some available.
Quote from BlizzardFrom goblins and gnomes to kobolds and catacombs, the Hearthstone team has drawn up a veritable universe for all the sets that we’ve introduced to the game. The Art of Hearthstone, our long-awaited inaugural art book, compiles concept art illustrations spanning the game’s earliest days to the release of League of Explorers.
Within this fabled tome, you’ll discover early concepts of some of your favorite cards and game boards, and get a behind-the-scenes look at how Hearthstone was brought to life.
The Art of Hearthstone will be available globally on October 15 in English only, with French, German, Russian, Polish, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified) versions to follow. You’ll be able to purchase it wherever books are sold.
Editions
The Art of Hearthstone will come in two editions: a hardcover Standard Edition priced at US $45, and a Limited Edition priced at US $125—limited to 1,000 numbered copies, all signed by the Hearthstone development team—available exclusively through Blizzard Gear Store, and at BlizzCon 2018.
The Limited Edition features an imitation leather cover, and will be seated inside a gorgeous Hearthstone box. It also includes two high-quality prints in a portfolio, and a numbered Certificate of Authenticity—also signed by the Hearthstone development team.
Grab a copy of The Art of Hearthstone at your favorite local bookstore on October 15, or keep an eye on the Gear Store for a chance to nab one of the Limited Editions. We’ll also have some copies of the Limited Edition for sale at this year’s BlizzCon, so if you’re attending the show, be sure to check it out there!
More Hearthstone Books - The Pop-up Book
A new book is coming out of the Tavern on November 6th which celebrates Hearthstone - The Hearthstone Pop-Up Book. Definitely a must-have for any hardcore fan of the game for the pure cool factor, there isn't a whole lot going on with it other than being a nice show piece.
The pop-up book will set you back around $40 USD, which is 38% off the list price of $65 USD. You can pre-order a copy here.
Does it come with a hero skin and card back?
This is awesome. I love both Hearthstone and Art! This will be nice collection to have.
Please do not undermine the hard work from great artists to make this game one of the best looking card game because of the current state of the meta..
lol pre-nerf Auctioneer
Yeah, though Leeroy Jenkins is post-nerfed.
The timing is perfect for this. The vocal community is almost completely in agreement that the game has glaring issues and isn't fun to play. The devs have seemingly been ignoring this and actively denying it despite asking for feedback with no proper way to give it. Now they want to sell you a children's pop up book for almost the price of an expansion preorder. I mean I know that this book has nothing to do with the game development side of things, it's just remarkable how in the face of consumer ire, the response of Activision/Blizzard isn't to respond with game fixes or quality of life enhancements. Rather, they try to sell you the idea more. The idea that Hearthstone is a fun and magical space where all are welcome and everything is fine.
Between this and the recent push to sell animated jpegs again. I think it's quite obvious that priorities lie in selling an aesthetic imaginary version of Hearthstone to casual players through animated skits, bright colors and pop up books. All while they do everything they can to ignore what Hearthstone really is. A miserable experience full of polarized matches you could never win against netdeckers who revel in trying to make you feel bad. Sending mean messages after a loss. Botting. No vision of any future for one of the only other prominent modes in the game(wild). No plans to ever expand the experience beyond an obnoxious repetitive ladder climb. No plans to expand on rewards to celebrate your achievements or dedication.
Hearthstone is style over substance. This book is the physical manifestation of the biggest problem hearthstone has that no one talks about. It's outward facing lie of being a fun game that the developers care about.
TL;DR: "I'm not having fun so no one else is"
Just go play MtG Arena and cry there.
i'll bet there is Ben Brode pop-up.
But..but.... your profile pic has HS art....
It's funny that the limited edition is signed by the dev team and not by the artists and designers.
I get that they did not bother sending 1000 book all around the country (or fly 15 designers in for a signing session for that matter...)
yeah fuck off
$$$
I mean somebody will be buying, so yeah, business...
Sure........NO!
