The Five Most Underhyped Boomsday Project Cards
Hello again, friends. Last time we talked about the most overhyped cards from the latest expansion, The Boomsday Project. Today we’re going the opposite route, highlighting some of the most underhyped cards from the expansion. These cards just weren’t talked about that much leading up to launch (or if they were it wasn't in a very positive light). Despite all that neglect and negativity at the beginning, these five cards have managed to overcome all obstacles and shine in their own unique ways. Who doesn’t love a good underdog story? Check them out, and some decks that run each of them, below!
1. Giggling Inventor
According to hsreplay, this card is in a whopping 36.1% of decks. Keep in mind that it is a neutral card and can be played across all classes, so percentages for any of the following class cards aren’t going to be nearly this high. That being said that’s a LOT of decks. It’s been played over 4.5 million times, and if you check out the popularity graph, you’ll see a sharp (almost instantaneous) increase in popularity, where it has stayed pretty much since.
This card is so popular, in fact, that Blizzard recently said they were "keeping an eye on it." Our own polls indicate this card's popularity as well, 40.7% say it’s “Very Good”, with 20.7% going even further and saying that it’s “Meta-defining!”.
Look, this card didn’t get a ton of mentions in the “best of” or “most anticipated” lists before launch. BUT, we here at Hearthpwn have some very astute users, and some of you guys knew ahead of time that this card was going to explode in popularity. Feel free to pat yourselves on the back. Go on, we’ll wait.

2. The Soularium
Worse than being ignored before launch, The Soularium even made it onto a pre-launch worst cards list. But despite such a rough start, it has turned out to be a surprisingly popular card.
According to our polls: 46.4% of players say it’s “Very Good” with an additional 26.4% saying that it’s “Meta-defining!”. Also according to our data, it’s being used in 24.3% of Warlock decks lately. That's almost a quarter of Warlock decks being played by Hearthpwn users! And of course, surprising perhaps no one, this card is primarily played in Zoolock decks.

3. Subject 9
This card didn’t get a whole lot of chatter prelaunch, but it has done well for itself. Subject 9 doesn’t have quite as high of a play rate as some of the other cards on this list, but it has a solid upward trend in popularity and a significant win rate that can’t be ignored.
Not all classes have secrets, so despite this being a neutral card it’s only going to come in handy for a few classes. With that in mind, it kind of makes it's popularity even more impressive. You’ll get a lot of bang for your buck with this card if you enjoy playing Secret Hunter, Secret Mage, etc.

4. Zilliax
Aside from Giggling Inventor, this card is the most popular on this list. It wasn’t mentioned a ton in pre-launch discussions, but even what little conversation it did conjure up doesn't account for how popular it is in today’s meta.
Not only is this card being included in 15% of decks, but it also has a long trend of a high win rate (according to hsreplay). It’s good in a variety of decks and classes, because it’s neutral. It's especially popular (and useful) with Odd Warrior decks, but it is seeing success in plenty of others as well.

5. Doubling Imp
This card wasn't hyped up very much before launch. Some insightful people were able to see the value of this card early on, but for the most part it was largely ignored. Shortly after launch, however, it saw a sharp rise in popularity and has been a stable of Warlock decks since.
According to hsreplay, this card has been played over a million times and is included in 7.4% of decks. Almost everyone in our poll agrees that this is a good card. Only 1.3% of players say it’s “Bad” and 0.3% say to “Dust It!”. Don’t listen to those people. Listen to the 65.7% who say it’s “Very Good”. They know what’s up.

That wraps up our list of the most underhyped cards from the Boomsday Project expansion. Don't forget to check out our article on the most overhyped cards as well. What do you guys think? Were there any cards that you can't live without that just didn't get any love pre-launch? Or were you one of the insightful folks who totally called it that a card was going to be popular (despite what the pundits were saying)? Let us know in the comments!
Deathrattle rogue can blow my blightnozzle.
Zilliax and Subject 9 both looked really mediocre to me when spoiled, but they’ve fast become my favourite cards of the expansion. Zilliax especially just seems to fit in almost any midrange/control shell (except even decks obviously)
Im surprised to see Zilliax on that list. I really don't think I was among the minority, thinking Zilliax will be played a lot.
The strength of cards is subjective and depends on were you got your data. I wont go as far as say this sites data is wrong but i would like to remind people that the votes isnt locked there is some people that changed their vote after the release and only data on/before release is valid.
For example(not an real one) giggling could have been 2% meta defining but become 30% from players that changed their vote or people that only vote after playing with the card's.
I would also like to add an card that is voted too be the 10th best card but is in fact the best card is also under rating the card.
From what i under stand this is were they got their data:
https://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/hearthstone-general/card-discussion/221739-the-boomsday-project-community-compendium-qa-all
Giggling Inventor was the voted to be the 36 best card in the set Zilliax was 20, Subject 9 88, The Soularium 23, Doubling Imp 13
Personally I liked RegisKillbin list better he even have an spreadsheet were you can look at the data that you can go into from an link.

I like Zilliax a lot. It's fair, it's decent and it's still a good value card. This is how you design cards. I mean, look at Giggling, broken af.
I also agree Supercollider should be here in the list.

When your underhyped card list has stuff like this, it kinda invalidates what you are saying. Did you take out the votes that occurred after launch? I remember a lot of cards that were initial sleepers had their original scores be low, only to have them break through and become incredibly meta-defining.
If I were to make a list like this, I would go with Subject 9, Supercollider, Secret Plan, Dyn-o-matic and Myra's Unstable Element because I remember a lot of people just not being excited for these cards and they've all seen a lot of play in standard and none were initially perceived to be really good.
You should have written this article, then the article wouldn't have been a poorly informed joke.
I'm flattered, but if I were to write anything like this, more than half of it would just be a grammatical errors.
You know, coming back to this article several times and seeing the comments and Subject 9 mentioned plenty, I feel almost angry that I was one of the only people that saw Subject 9 was going to be good. Rated it a 4.5/5 with my review thread.
Being right many times about different things tends to hurt when no one else seems to be with you. Funny how even after everything's been out for almost 2 months, people are still getting things wrong about Boomsday cards.
The Soularium, Doubling Imp, but no Supercollider? Now that's the real sleeper card..
Yeah, I would have placed supercollider as the under-hyped card. That was definitely the one I missed pre-launch.
All 5 of the card listed above were obvious strong cards pre release.
giggling wasn't that underhyped..looking at the comments and rating.. it wasn't people even stated "it's the new sludge belcher"
as for me it's one of the cards I didn't vote as it seems, I wasn't sure about it because druid's power perspective before the expansion hit, which as we know.. druid runs.. spreading plague which is very good against inventor, and I thought that we are entering druidstone so.. (and totally forgot about mossy horror at the time).
subject 9 is the only one with mixed reviews the rest weren't underhyped at all.. soularium? really I didn't see it as an underhyped card at all
https://www.hearthpwn.com/news/5884-the-hearthpwn-boomsday-project-community
both zilliax, and soularium are in the top 30 cards
doubling imp is number 13 in the list..
so.. your list doesn't make sense.
stop copying me stop copying me hello hello hello
Apart from Subject 9 all these cards were highly rated before the expansion dropped. What a terrible and pointless article.
Honestly, that list surprises me because most cards there were rated properly (with the exception of Giggling Inventor). They are very good, exactly as rated. On the other hand, there were cards that people thought were trash tier and would see no play, should've included them instead.
Wut... Giggling Inventor and The Soularium were always expected to be strong and popular... the only really underhyped card I see in that ranking is Subject 9...
wait, who underhyped soularium?! that card was overhyped if anything.
The (under)hype is real.
I'm not the least bit surprised that Zilliax or Giggling Inventor are doing well. Anyone who played when GvG was a thing remembers how annoying Annoy-o-Tron was; making two at once (which can now easily be buffed with magnetic) is bound to be a hit. The fact that Zilliax gives more then 2 keywords makes him an auto include in any deck with any amount of mechs.
Like everyone else I'm surprised as well on not seeing Supercollider; stat wise it looks horrible; but once you use it you will fall in love. It's so satisfying to watch two enemy minions kill each other.
Zilliax is one of the best legendaries of BDP - great instant healing option from nowhere that can be buffed for every class. I like to play it in Rogue with cold-blood
where's supercollider? that card is nuts and I saw people comparing it to Tentacles for Arms
