Global Games Cheering on Twitch is Live! Cheer for Teams, Get Packs and a Card Back
The Hearthstone Global Games Cheer that was announced last week has gone live on Twitch.
- You'll earn a card back for cheering on the teams.
- Card packs will be given out based on how much you cheer.
- Twitch Emotes can be unlocked through cheering as well.
More details can be found below. Remember that cheering for a team gives the players on that team a portion of the bits cheered (equal to the cut Blizzard receives). Any of the following teams can be cheered for.
Brazil, Singapore, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Bulgaria, China, Chile, Chinese Taipei, Spain, Switzerland, New Zealand, Netherlands, Norway, Hong Kong, Portugal, and the United States are included.
You can cheer at Twitch.tv/PlayHearthstone
Community Rewards
These are rewards given out to everyone who cheers a minimum amount of bits.

Personal Rewards
There are ten different tiers of personal rewards. Some things are for Hearthstone itself while others are for use on Twitch. The card back is the final personal reward and it will require 2500 bits to unlock.
If you want the card back without buying any additional bits, the best way to do it is by purchasing one package of 1500 bits ($20 USD) and two packages of 500 ($7 USD) for a total of 2500 bits that costs $34. If you don't mind a few extra bits though, you do get more value by purchasing the 1500 bits package twice (it is $6 more) and you get another 500 bits to throw at a streamer.
The card back is not yet in the game client which means you cannot actually use it yet. We need to wait for a patch first.
The card packs are being rewarded right away.
Reward | Unlocked at Total |

Common Emote Pack (Twitch) | 300 Bits |
4 Classic Packs | 600 Bits |

The Takeway
Not actually that bad of a deal - it certainly isn't the worst one we've seen.
If you break it down, purchasing 2500 bits for $34 USD ends up giving you 22 card packs from the personal rewards alone which would have cost you $30 USD (15 packs + 7 packs). That leaves the card back at cost of $4 assuming you don't care about the Twitch emotes. The deal improves depending on what all the community unlock tiers end up being and if they are all unlockable with just your 2500 bits cheer.
Which team will you be cheering for?
''you will have collector people complaining of this''
That makes no sense. If you are a true collector, you know you'll have to participate into shit like this. You KNOW that you'll need to spend money on special promotions, otherwise you will NEVER be able acquire all the items, that's the reality we live in.
Third, what do you mean not all can participate ? You mean you are a little kid who can't buy bits ? Ask your mother if that's the case… otherwise there is no reason for you not being able to participate, is there ?
Sure budy, i will spend like 1000-2500 argetine pesos that i need to pay the bills in things like that, cause prices are the same every where right?, those "kids" you are talking sometimes are normal people that can't allow thierelves to pay more money. Not all can participate cause not all can pay.
If you don't care about people situation it does not mean it doesn't matter at all, if you can pay, well for you, but not everyone is you
Edit: true collectors had a really shity experience with nemzy's firesides, but who cares rigth?, they are collectors they will get anyways.
So why are you mad again ? Are you upset that you'll miss the card back ?
Judging from what you told me, I can tell you probably don't pre-order everything and don't participate in special promotions like this one. So why do you care again about one card back that you probably won't uses ?
Also here's a tip; work an extra hour or two and suddenly boom, you can afford it!!
I'm not mad to lose the cardback, but what's upset is the generalization you made, why people can't complain about bad marketing strategies?
Can't pay cause they need the money for other things means that they have not voice as players?, no.
One thing is complain for everything, but when there is a reason, it's f***ing fine complain for a better service in future events, and this is not a worth event even for those that already have the cheers
So basically you're complaining because whoever does the marketing is bad at what he does, according to you ? (by the way, that guy probably has a degree in marketing while you don't, just saying)
You don't even care about the card back.. you just care about blizzard's financial growth and thus, the bad marketing upsets you because they could get much more money from US players if they did things correctly.. that sure is nice from you, keep up the great support!
Jesus Bee, you are very naïve. Have fun paying more money than it would cost you to just buy some packs in the store to help cement Blizzard's relationship with greedy, self-serving Twitch
Really ? Have we not read the same article ?
I am paying 4$ more for an exclusive card back that supports the team that I like. And that's assuming we don't unlock anything for the community tiers.
So you think get more money is worth losing customers in the procces? You know, when you lose a customer for a bad experience, it's 7 times worse than a good one, cause people remembers more the bad things than the good ones.
If you do a bad job in the appartment that supposely should makes your company win money during the time, probably you are going to lose that job, when people complains with a decent reason, it helps te company to improve it's service, it's basic. "Mony money money" usually does not work in the long run
It's pointless to talk to a Blizzard white knight. They cannot, and will not, handle constructive criticism about Blizzard's marketing. Whatever Blizzard does is all perfect. Any criticism to this white knight is an insult and will proceed to defend it with generalized assumptions, emotional reactions and stubbornness. It is clear that the response to this event is very negative. And hopefully Blizzard learns from this.
Pointless to me as all the packs are old and just give me dust.
What do you do to unlock the card back? You just cheer 2500 worth of bits in any direction? Sorry I've never done this...
i have to guess that in the 2500 cheers point, you not only get the Cardback but all the other rewards. Which means 2500 cheers for 20 packs and a cardback as ingame rewards
lol nevermind, got it.
Does the stream need to be LIVE in order for the bits to count for the rewards?
After we earn the Twitch emotes do we keep them permanently?
Yep!
It’s one of the grubbiest marketing schemes Blizzard have put out so far. What a fun community event where, to join in, you have to pay through the nose. NO THANKS.
Thanks for the economic breakdown, Fluxflashor.
Well, at least people who cheers will get something else with the community goals..... I guess that is a start?.
Edit: Good luck to those who will try to get the cheers with ads, thats almost imposible
