Global Games Cheering on Twitch is Live! Cheer for Teams, Get Packs and a Card Back
The Hearthstone Global Games Cheer that was announced last week has gone live on Twitch.
- You'll earn a card back for cheering on the teams.
- Card packs will be given out based on how much you cheer.
- Twitch Emotes can be unlocked through cheering as well.
More details can be found below. Remember that cheering for a team gives the players on that team a portion of the bits cheered (equal to the cut Blizzard receives). Any of the following teams can be cheered for.
Brazil, Singapore, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Bulgaria, China, Chile, Chinese Taipei, Spain, Switzerland, New Zealand, Netherlands, Norway, Hong Kong, Portugal, and the United States are included.

These are rewards given out to everyone who cheers a minimum amount of bits.

Personal Rewards
There are ten different tiers of personal rewards. Some things are for Hearthstone itself while others are for use on Twitch. The card back is the final personal reward and it will require 2500 bits to unlock.
If you want the card back without buying any additional bits, the best way to do it is by purchasing one package of 1500 bits ($20 USD) and two packages of 500 ($7 USD) for a total of 2500 bits that costs $34. If you don't mind a few extra bits though, you do get more value by purchasing the 1500 bits package twice (it is $6 more) and you get another 500 bits to throw at a streamer.
The card back is not yet in the game client which means you cannot actually use it yet. We need to wait for a patch first.
The card packs are being rewarded right away.

The Takeway
Not actually that bad of a deal - it certainly isn't the worst one we've seen.
If you break it down, purchasing 2500 bits for $34 USD ends up giving you 22 card packs from the personal rewards alone which would have cost you $30 USD (15 packs + 7 packs). That leaves the card back at cost of $4 assuming you don't care about the Twitch emotes. The deal improves depending on what all the community unlock tiers end up being and if they are all unlockable with just your 2500 bits cheer.

Locking the card back behind a 35 dollar pay wall is just the cherry on the shit cake. Blizzard has no respect for anyone that plays this game. Also to the "it's just a cosmetic people". It's just a money grab is what it is. Your dedication to playing their game and watching their tournaments means squat. Cough up more money jack and "celebrate" with us! Yeah fuck that noise.

I'm just absolutely stunned at how players are being milked these days (not just in HS). The (arbitrarily) high price for packs in the shop is bad enough as it is, but adding even more ways to increase how expensive the HS-hobby is just seems ridiculous.
I totally understand wanting to promote your game to a broader audience. I also understand the desire to be on every social medium and video/streaming site with your game. I even understand creating some sort of league or tournament and iconic players for fans to rally behind. I absolutely do NOT understand these blatant attempts to bleed fans for their last dime. A line has to be drawn somewhere.

Will be sitting back and wondering how far the pay piggies will carry us in Community Rewards. They can have their 22 packs for $34 instead of the regular $30. "Not actually that bad of a deal" LOL

Posted Sep 17, 2018 (Boomsday)Well, that is the price of the 22 personal packs and the card bad, you save some by stopping at the last 10 pack bundle if you don't want to jump the last 500 for the card back. Also, that in the least unlocks the 2 Boomsday packs as long as the 8,000,000 bit goal is hit, which seems pretty likely. So its more like 24 packs, and a cardback for $34. Who knows what the other community goals will be, but it should make that value decent by the end.

and you get 4 classic(??) packs for 6 bucks? not even that is worth it

Posted Sep 17, 2018 (Boomsday)Really gross from blizzard. It wasn't bad enough that they made packs gifts, as opposed to earning them across all regions but now they removed the choose your champion packs all together and exchanged it for this money grab.
I would hope most people boycott this but who am I kidding, something about exclusive card backs make some people go nuts for them even though it's one of the shittiest aesthetic items I've ever seen in any game.

Keep in mind that you don't have to participate if you don't want to, however, if you choose not to participate, you better not complain on those participating since we're giving you free packs!
