Quote from BlizzardWith the top 16 countries and regions in the world identified, it’s time to see which teams will advance to the Hearthstone Global Games (HGG) playoffs at BlizzCon®. Celebrate the journey with HGG Cheer—a new program that allows you to support your favorite teams and unlock rewards in-game and on Twitch along the way!
From Sept. 17 through Nov. 4, you can support participating HGG teams by Cheering with Bits on Twitch. As you Cheer for a team using their dedicated, custom Cheermote, a portion of the revenue will go back to the players on that team.
When you Cheer for a team, you’ll also be able to unlock special Twitch emotes and in-game rewards for Hearthstone based on how much you Cheer. In addition to personal rewards, community support can unlock global rewards for everyone who has Cheered as overall milestones are reached.
You’ll be able to see your personal and global progress on the official Hearthstone Twitch channel. HGG supporters can see:
- Your Progress: As you Cheer (for any team), you’ll make progress towards unlocking Twitch emotes and in-game rewards—including card packs and a card back—based on the level of Cheering you’ve done as an individual.
- Global Progress: Monitor the overall support for HGG and keep track as overall levels of Cheering unlock global rewards for supporters over a minimum level of personal Cheering.
Here’s how to participate in HGG Cheer and unlock rewards:
- Link your Blizzard account to your Twitch account.
- Visit the official Hearthstone Twitch channel any time from Sept. 17 through Nov. 4.
- Select the Cheermote of the team you wish to support, then add the number of Bits you wish to Cheer (plus an optional custom message).
- Check back in the Tavern once goals are reached to automatically receive your rewards! (The card back will be added in a future Hearthstone update.)
Everyone, get in here! Support your team in the Hearthstone Global Games and follow them as they chase the trophy at BlizzCon. The program goes live on Sept. 17, so link your accounts, get your Bits, and be ready to start Cheering for HGG!
Frequently Asked Questions
Quote from BlizzardHow much revenue does a team receive when I Cheer for them?
For each Bit Cheered for an HGG team, that team and Blizzard (as the tournament organizer) receive an equal amount of revenue. The HGG team’s portion is divided evenly among the four team members.
Which teams are included in HGG Cheer?
Brazil, Singapore, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Bulgaria, China, Chile, Chinese Taipei, Spain, Switzerland, New Zealand, Netherlands, Norway, Hong Kong, Portugal, and the United States are included.
How do I Cheer for a team?
To Cheer for your team of choice, click on the Bits icon in the corner of the chat window, select that team’s Cheermote, add the number of Bits you want to use, and optionally add a custom message to cheer them on.
Can I use the regular Cheer command for HGG Cheer?
No, regular Cheers won’t work for HGG Cheer. You can Cheer for any of the 16 remaining HGG teams using their team-themed Cheermotes.
I forgot to link my Blizzard Battle.net account before Cheering! Can I still get the items?
Yes! First, link your Blizzard account to your Twitch account. When you return to the Hearthstone Twitch channel, you’ll see that a “Redeem All” button has appeared. Hit that button to claim your items!
Where can I watch HGG in my native language?
You can view HGG in English, Russian, French, Korean, Japanese, Mandarin, and Thai.
Just because you don’t like someone’s opinion doesn’t mean they must be a fanboy.
I mean one card back from a promotion isn't being ''Greedy'' Blizzard and Twitch/Amazon have been partners for a while.. it's just normal that once in a while there's new promotional content.
I'm wondering why some people get so upset about it, it's the equivalent of Loot Boxes in Overwatch or Heroes of the Storm and even skins in SC2..
If you don't want to spend any money for a card back, so be it, nobody forces you to do so.
I guess thats not the "REAL" FAQ.
In the real FAQ first question would be:
1. how much money do I need to spend to get the cardback
The answer is $0
Just watch ads for bits and get everything free
0$ ?? I've seen that answer a few times and that's completely LAUGHABLE.
What makes you think you'll get enough bits to get ''everything free'' by watching ads when we have no idea how much bits this is going to cost ?
If the card back costs 5000 bits, good luck getting it for ''free'' as you claim.
I've already collected 500 bits in the past 24 hours. Considering I have several weeks, I think it should be quite easy to get most all the rewards free
If you think it'll be that easy, then lemme know how many free packs you end up getting from this.
I am legitimately curious.
Also how many hours did it take to get 500 bits and did you watch ads ?
All 24 hours, he was watching ads non-stop.
Technically speaking, it could be described that it hardly took me any time at all since I just had Twitch open in a separate window whenever I was doing something else on my computer.
The actual amount you get for the ads is inconsistent. It'll always be at least 5, but sometimes you get much more (one time I got 71 for some reason)
If I was to estimate the actual time spent that took away from anything else, it'd probably end up being about 20 min total so far (spread out between many small time intervals)
Hopefully it's not painful like the Overwatch one was.
So Blizzard try to squeeze our munny for card back.
Thx Blizz not an good promotion or anything...just a card back.
Also supporting the HS teams you cheer for and free packs.
Just watch ads for free bits, get the benefits of free stuff and supporting your favorite team. Seems like a win-win for everyone
How many Bits do I have to cheer for the card back?
it does not matter, you should not be supporting this. the reason they do dumb stuff like this instead of fixing the game is because people will go along with it and blizzard will end up with more money than if they fixed the game.
so please do not buy this cardback, please nobody buy this cardback. if we dont pay money for these dumb stuff then blizzard might stop doing them.
Read the post, part of the money goes to the players that you cheer for as well. However, since I'm fully F2P, I'm watching ads to collect bits so that I can get packs and the card back.
As for fixing the game, I don't see any issues. If I can get to rank 2, two months in a row, with Countess Ashmore Dire Frenzy Hunter, as fully F2P, I think the meta is in a great state
Good question. While they say that the more you cheer, the closer you get to getting free packs and cardback, they don't actually say the threshold for getting the rewards. And there's also the "global" progress where they will give "supporters" additional rewards if enough people used the cheer emotes. What rewards will that be? Additional packs? Tyrande skin? A golden legendary? Dalaran cardback?
I hope they explained the mechanics and rewards much better.
So wait a moment. I use adblock like any sane person, but if I turn adblock off and have twitch running on some muted tab, I can earn bits 4 free to spend to get this silly card back? It sounds ridiculous but besides a little set-up (turn off adblock and open the tab) now it sounds EZ.
Bits for Ads is available in our iOS and Android mobile apps for viewers in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, Germany, Finland, France, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Sweden, Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea.
So no free bits for those outside selected countries. Webpage works only for US
Huh? Why do most of those teams not have supported languages, and viceversa?
Yes, but that's not the case for people that talk spanish and that is at least one whole continent. It really seems weird because we always get a official stream in our language for new cards streaming and seasonal tournaments and playoffs even.
