Hearthside Chat: The Puzzle Lab with Giovanni Scarpati and Max Ma
Hearthstone's Mission Designer, Giovanni Scarpati, and Lead UI Designer, Max Ma, are showcasing the Puzzle Lab which launches next week on August 21 and is completely free to play. You'll earn three card packs for logging in next week.
Quote from DaxxarriJoin Hearthstone Mission Designer Giovanni Scarpati and Lead UI Designer Max Ma as they take you on a tour of Boom Labs’ most enigmatic facilities: The Puzzle Lab!
In The Puzzle Labs, you’re tasked with helping Boom Labs head scientists and their assistants overcome challenging obstacles to their research! Each lab represents one of four different puzzle types: Lethal, Mirror, Board Clear, or Survival. Each lab starts with a simple challenge—a “Puzzles 101” to familiarize you with the experimental procedures—but they ramp way up in difficulty from there! You can do The Puzzle Labs in any order, so if you get stuck, you can shake things up and put in some work at a different Lab for a while.
Complete every last puzzle in the place, and you’ll earn one heck of a diploma: The Boomlabs! card back will be added to your collection!
Don’t forget! If you haven’t claimed them already, you can still log in to get a free Legendary minion (or Hero card) and three card packs—both from the new expansion—FREE! Join us starting August 21 to experience The Puzzle Labs, and get three more The Boomsday Project card packs when you log in. These free card packs and Legendary card are only available for a limited time—so act fast!—but The Puzzle Lab is here to stay.
Looks cool was disappointed they did not continue the dungeon run /monster hunt theme

Going to try really hard to play through these without guides. I always end up wanting the card back so badly I go all out, read guides and netdeck so that I have it within 24 hours of it becoming available.
Get those goddamn achievements out rather than cardbacks...you safe a lot of time and people feel more rewarded for it than anything else. Plus you could technically even add titles to use for a match. Even more time and money save. Hell there are so many things to include than „just“ cardbacks. I mean sure they are cool but there‘s way too much of them at the time being...
That would be so cool just something more worth playing and grinding for .. I agree carbacks are cool but at the end of the day its just skins .. They dont have any impact on gameplay or anything just cosmetics.
Or you could just start treating cardbacks like achievements, since they technically are lol, the only difference is cardbacks are cosmetic and you can use them, achievements are useless.
Well a variety of achievements would be nice it would give the game something fresh... and come on is not that hard achievement to reach rank 20 and win 5 rank games till the end of month every month.
They keep getting closer and closer to what is meant to be, and this type of PvE definitely seems cool (love me some skill-testing situations in Hearthstone!) but, as many people have already said, it's not as fun without a recurrent reward (or a reward in general; even if it's one-time, make it worth it — we are tired of all these card backs).
Love puzzle games - looking forward to this.
Maybe it was the lighting but Max Ma's head looked too big for his body. Maybe he's just got a mega brain :)

On paper this looks more challenging than the Monster Hunt. 1 week to find out, I guess.
My time wasted watching disguised toast's lethal puzzles are about to pay off
Yea i know but it feels so nice having a reward at the end of each wing ... like we are used to :)
This looks like some amazing content that I'm really going to enjoy! And a great intro vid to get me pumped for it. I might be most excited about this Single Player Content than any SPC that came before it.
The best UI is invisible? Sometimes I do wish Druids couldn't find Ultimate Infestation...
They were probably referring to their Tournament Mode UI as no one has been able to find the mode yet.

This is one of my favorite things from Duels of the Planeswalkers; so glad to finally have something similar in Hearthstone.
They're also going to be a completely different beast, and that's awesome!
