Initial Crafting Advice For Legendary Cards In The Boomsday Project
Now that we've had a few days of playing with the new Legendary cards brought to us by Boom Labs in The Boomsday Project, we've got some initial rankings to share on how well they're doing. You can use the information here to help decide whether or not you want to craft any of the new legendary cards, though we do think it's still smart to wait a couple of weeks from an expansion launch before making any big decisions.
Below you'll find our highlights of each tier, along with a description of what the different tiers mean. Full data can be found in our Hearthstone Legendary Cards Tier List & Crafting Guide thread found over on the card discussion forums. Updates will be made to that thread as things evolve.
It should also be noted we've got a special section just for ranking cards in Wild.
Tier 1 - Staples
We're not confident in giving any cards the Tier 1 badge yet because these are considered as must-have cards. Anything in this bracket is typically used in either a certain archetype that is crushing everything else or is used across a variety of high-level decks. Great examples of cards in this tier from Witchwood were Baku the Mooneater and Genn Greymane which were used in many different classes to great success.
As the meta is still evolving heavily, anything we suggest here could become outdated quickly. We've got a good idea what belongs here after a couple of weeks.
Tier 2 - Tech
These are usually cards that although not necessarily must-crafts, they're going to help you out with a particular archetype that is seeing success.
Tier 3 - Playable
We're seeing these cards working in decks and although they may not be at the absolute top right now, it could go both ways. At the very least they're usually fun additions to the game.
Tier 4 - Niche
If you've got them, it may be worth hanging onto because they're at least seeing some play. Disenchanting these cards may result in regret down the line.
Tier 5 - Trash
Dust em! It's really that easy.

That’s so true!
I still remember the day I ‘dusted’ Hadronox, Valeera and Prince Taldaram and The Lich King during KoFT because they weren’t played a lot.
Guess what legendaries I wanna craft now lol.
You dusted Hadronox, Valeera DK and Lich King? Good God. I crafted all three of those, Lich King KoFT day one.
Not even trolling, I opened Dr. Morrigan, Harbinger Celestia , Zerek's Cloning Gallery, Myra Rotspring, and Subject 9. I have hope for Cloning Gallery, and Subject 9 is fun, but man did I whiff. On the bright side, my pulls can only go up from here :D
try subject 9 in a hunter it can draw at least 2 cards which for any hunter deck is a big deal considaring they lack card draw and deck thining
i got the exact same legends, plus Mecahthun, Whizbang, and Kangor's Endless Army. I have spent most of my time with the Whiz.
Mecha'thun is nowhere on the list and Priest legendaries are underdogs. I can confirm.
If you read the actual list, it should be pretty clear that "Dust em! It's really that easy" is not quite what Tier 5 means.
Also, with the massive effort by the community to find the most effective decks, the meta stabilizes very quickly now, so it is not as irresponsible to post the list right now as you might think. In the changelogs, you can see the movements after the initial placements after previous releases, and the changes are corrections rather than overhauls. Some bigger changes, like the ones following the discovery of Cubelock, were actually picked up in the crafting guide before the deck was known and had gotten it's name!
Also, by bringing attention to this list, we will get feedback to make sure it is updated, text and tiers.
I can agree with what you are saying Sly, however I can agree with the other posters comment / opinion as well. It is early on, and a list like this does nothing but potentially prevent creativity. Imagine someone that opens one of the "Trash" cards and had plans to try and creatively build a deck around it. They read this article, assume it's correct, and dust it. Whether the deck the person was going to create was good / bad, who knows now.
Yes the meta moves rapidly now... but a lot of that is purely based upon the fact that a large portion of players come here to this site to see what is hot and what is not. I do it similarly, but I also like to be creative and try new things. This article kind of goes against that with some of the verbiage that is used in it.
how is Harbinger Celestia better than both Priest Legendary cards? is she being played against combo decks or something like that?
Mecha’thun is nowhere on that list, and it’s defining the meta.
3/10

Check Tier 2...
Zilliax should be a tier 1
With all due respect, I think it is completely irresponsible to make lists like this, as early as now. We have new players, still trying to wrap their heads around the game, who will give HUGE consideration to this list (this is a major Hearthstone site, after all) - notwithstanding the disclaimer in the opening paragraph. It doesn't help that the article uses absolutes like "Dust em! It's really that easy."
With this site's wide readership, perhaps a little more exercise in discretion and restraint (against prematurely posting lists) is in order. Just my 2 cents.
Kangor's endless army and Zilliax are both bad. The two priest legendary belong in the second group, and Dr.m is way more viable celestia.
zilliax is neutral, flexible, and fills a magnetic use.
priest legendaries are build arounds, slow, and has yet to really yield any competitive fruit.
Agreed on the paladin one though
100% true with zilliax, the actual problem being that mech decks aren't strong enough. So there is no point in the card, when more than half the decks that are dominating aren't based on mech and magnetic synergy.
Honestly the only card i would recommend for new players is whizbang.
Blizzard finally made a card that make this game accessible for new players kodus to them!
Really disappointed that you put Cloning Gallery in the "Trash" tier, Fluxflashor. It's a card that requires building around as much as Boom-zooka or Luna's Pocket Galaxy.
This is completely wrong, in what world zerek and his spell is worst that celestial ?
i personally played zerek and he is not that bad or trash, i think he is a tier 3, and his spell is a 4, celestial is a 100% tier 5 and morrigan 4 or 5
Go to the actual list, it is not mainly by Flux, even though he made the newspost.
If your main critisism is that two class cards with bad winrates and a neutral with dropping winrate should swap places, I would say the list is pretty damn good!
