Initial Crafting Advice For Legendary Cards In The Boomsday Project
Now that we've had a few days of playing with the new Legendary cards brought to us by Boom Labs in The Boomsday Project, we've got some initial rankings to share on how well they're doing. You can use the information here to help decide whether or not you want to craft any of the new legendary cards, though we do think it's still smart to wait a couple of weeks from an expansion launch before making any big decisions.
Below you'll find our highlights of each tier, along with a description of what the different tiers mean. Full data can be found in our Hearthstone Legendary Cards Tier List & Crafting Guide thread found over on the card discussion forums. Updates will be made to that thread as things evolve.
It should also be noted we've got a special section just for ranking cards in Wild.
Tier 1 - Staples
We're not confident in giving any cards the Tier 1 badge yet because these are considered as must-have cards. Anything in this bracket is typically used in either a certain archetype that is crushing everything else or is used across a variety of high-level decks. Great examples of cards in this tier from Witchwood were Baku the Mooneater and Genn Greymane which were used in many different classes to great success.
As the meta is still evolving heavily, anything we suggest here could become outdated quickly. We've got a good idea what belongs here after a couple of weeks.
Tier 2 - Tech
These are usually cards that although not necessarily must-crafts, they're going to help you out with a particular archetype that is seeing success.
Tier 3 - Playable
We're seeing these cards working in decks and although they may not be at the absolute top right now, it could go both ways. At the very least they're usually fun additions to the game.
Tier 4 - Niche
If you've got them, it may be worth hanging onto because they're at least seeing some play. Disenchanting these cards may result in regret down the line.
Tier 5 - Trash
Dust em! It's really that easy.

Lol, TRASH Tier. I got two of them in golden ones, Mr. Zerek and Ms. Morrigan.
That sucks, man! Keep them around for a while to not get them again, but dust them for something more useful when you need to imo!
This Card Review? Trash Tier.
Wow, what a short-minded setup. Really, the only good thing that was said is that the meta hasn't settled enough to determine what's Tier 1 yet. Move along, people.
Zerek and cloning gallery are far from trash who wrote this? I pulled both from my packs (cloning gallery in gold) then crafted zerek in golden, that's how not trash these cards are lol
Cloning gallery was promoted to tier 4 in the actual guide. I am curious to how you are doing with Zerek himself, though, I have big problems seeing how this card can possibly be good in a viable deck. If he wins you a game, you could probably do the same with Cairne Bloodhoof and Boulderfist Ogre, which are much less situational. Priests don't buff cards to have them die... Why wasn't this card neutral, so there could at least be synergies like Ancestral Spirit, Shadowflame and Power Overwhelming?
Zerek either is silenced and removed or you have a board full of them, not much in-between really. With Carnivorous Cube and Spiritsinger Umbra it is an insane combo. It's a late game card for sure though and you rarely ever play it on curve unless you have a Radiant Elemental out and a 0 cost spell
Yes, there are experiments with this card, but his winrate is sitting under 40% and is dropping. If that doesn't warrent tier 5, I don't know what does. He just does not work out. If anyone even finds a semi viable meme deck, we will eat or words and promote him to tier 4.
Meta is so fast right now the card can't really shine, I might have wasted loads of dust making a gold one but in a slower control meta where you can get so much value out of him then it will shine
I tend to be stingy with my dust, but lately, I play enough to earn most of what I want. So, I totally went against my usual instincts and crafted a golden Whizbang.
10 glorious full gold-deck matches later, I couldn't be happier!
What I'm saying is, competitive cards can be fantastic, but it's okay to let your hair down and have fun, too!
Omg i got the trash legendarys ah wel i got 6k dust remaining....
Advice from the same people who dusted Hadronox on launch?
Really? Disenchant Zerek, Master Cloner? Why did you decide so? To my mind its a very nice card. Playing this card, I literally felt the irritation of my opponent, when this minion did not want to leave the table.
Tier 1
Zilliax - Hi. There's a new expansion with lots of new cards, particularly mechs. Do you want the most versatile standalone and synergistic neutral legendary that easily fits into multiple archetypes across all classes? Yes? Good, then craft this.
Tier 2
Lots of great contenders including the other two listed above. Dr. Boom - Mad Genius, Electra Stormsurge, and F. Floop are all clearly battling here, and some may make it to Tier 1 one day.
Tier 3/Tier 4
These categories of Playable and Niche become harder to define, and harder to determine what cards fall into them. Mecha'thun seems like a great example though. A powerful and fun card, but you might not have the other cards to make it work properly. Luna's Pocket Galaxy doesn't quite fit yet. I've played it, and won games in which I've played it, but it's feeling very inconsistent. I think most decks are probably better with a different card, and even traditional exodia outperforms the current version. It's sort of unplayable, but I'm also never going to dust it because of future potential.
Trash Tier
Both of the Priest cards and fun and gimmicky. I think it's worth keeping them just to play around and have fun similar to Pocket Galaxy. Harbinger Celestia on the other hand is complete and utter garbage. Show me the decklist that runs this refuse. I dusted that on my first day and haven't looked back. Dr. Morrigan is also definitely garbage unless some bizarre synergy card is released in four months.
Whizbang Tier
I haven't gotten this card, and don't want it. I probably won't dust it if I get it. Personally, I don't think this should have ever been a card. They should simply allow people to play the deck recipes of their choice in casual mode after unlocking enough stuff in the game. Don't craft this though. You'll have more fun playing around with a different new legendary than queueing up a garbage Whizbang deck.
Did you check the actual thread this article is about? It is updated as well!

It's poor advice to tell people to disenchant a legendary card. If you plan to open more card packs this season it's a bad idea, because you could get that same legendary once again. Hold on to it at least until next expansion.
Especially when the 3 in the "Trash" list are dependent on other cards. They may be weak with current sets but they could become strong with supplemental cards in a future expansion.
Kangor’s is an odd choice for a Tier 2, in my opinion. I agree with Zilliax and The Soularium. Floop is notable by his absence, he’s undoubtedly extremely powerful, in multiple Tier 1 decks right now, and clearly a Tier 1 Legendary.
I think it’s reasonably safe to dust Dr. Morrigan. But the priest cards? Very premature.
Celestia is unplayable, so putting it in a tier above Morrigan is very odd...
I insta-crafted Zilliax. In bad cases it's a 5 drop that heals for at least 3 and usually trades up a minion and requires instant removal the next turn from the opponent. With mechs finally being good, it's a must imo.
If you disagree with the article and how the cards were placed, go to the thread and provide evidence it's wrong. It will be changed accordingly.
The character insults are rude and achieve nothing.
