Dev team: The Shaman set is themed after meteorology!
Also dev team: Here's Meteorologist, a new mage card!
It's a play on words I think: Meteor-ologist
At first i thought the card was about meteors, wich would fit mage theme, and makes sense with firing multiple shots. But then the card name would be meteorist (i think).
Seems pointless. Double Cinderstorm gets the job done as well. A 3/3 body turn 6 doesn't mean jack, especially if the effect is so heavily based on RNG.
I think people vastly overestimate Mage's potential to keep big hands. Mountain giant and Twilight Drake are busted for a reason, and that's because you want to play them turn 3-4. This and the other hand guy just come out way too late with way too little impact...and that's not even considering that the only existing Mage deck that would even want to run this has no real need for it. If you want a finisher in Big Spell Mage you just run Pyroblast, if you want a board clear you just get Blizzard.
Unless the Mage Legendary Spell creates an entire archetype on its own I don't see this working at all.
I think this card is for elemental mages without spell.
Elemental mages often have a lot of cards in their hand from elemental combos and have few chances to use a lot of these cards (elemental card usually cost 2-6 mana)
And this card can utilize this feature of the elemental mage, providing a non-spell AoE.
It’s 3/3 body is okay if you take it as an AoE. Though it’s cost might be too high, providing not enough help in dealing with aggro decks
I think Archmage Arugal and Book of Specters set a nice groundwork to build from, and the card draw from Stargazer Luna is only going to help. Also as others pointed out, there's still Aluneth to help as well. I agree that without a little more Hand Mage won't be a meta-deck, but there's enough there to be viable in some aspect.
T4, genn minion mage deck.. with book of spectres
I kinda like this guy. Avenging Wrath with a body. It's hard to say how much damage this will do on average, and I can see it either being mostly a bust (there just aren't enough cards in general), or perhaps really good. Nifty idea for a card, even if it doesn't quite work out.
Seems like it might be OK with Aluneth decks. Since that keeps filling your hand, it might mean a decent chance of a high-damage proc.
I think it will be tested in Aluneth Mage. Even if it is not worth playing, the chance you get 8 or 9 damage to face for 6 mana could really help a aggro deck. The only problem is that it's random which means it won't be worth it.
Goblin Blastmage 2.0
If any one played Shadowverse before:
It's so obvius they are running out of ideas. Even the same cost and stats for fuck sake
No. Not even remotely
This is fine for when you hit the aluneth portion of burn mage, the drawback being the slim window of being able to play it and a few more spells or facing some burned overdraw because of the cost
I think it can find it’s place
Security Rover approves!
Too bad the RNG will hit everything else but the Rover.
With 5 cards in hand this card is exactly neutral, being equal to a 3/3 for 3 plus a 3 mana Cinderstorm.
I dunno, seems like mostly a burn Mage thing and I don't think they can afford to be super hand focused, with their best draw spell destroying their vitally important Fireballs and such
Again, another Random effect for mage.
I don't care if i get downvoted but since Kobolds Iam being right for every Mage card and many downvoted on my comments. Understandable. But if its not blantly obvious that Mage's cards so far are really bad then I dont know what to say.
There is not even a single Mage card that can support current/old deck types or even make a viable one. Big Spell Mage doesnt want this. This is super random and might even backstab you if rng screws you up. And Hand Mage isnt a thing.
So... how would this interact with spell damage +2 for example?
Same as arcane missiles
