You don't need the combo against aggro. You just need to stabilize and slam the DK. And Druid is prrretty good at outliving aggro. Especially when they get to put Spreading Plauge and the DK back into their deck.
And yes you do have room for Florist. The combo takes up extremely little room compared to other combos that Druid has had success with in the past
Except it’s a the turn after spreading plague so it’s highlu possible you still have a wall up that protects you. I get the feeling I had with Warlock going into last expansion.
To be clear, I'm not saying that Dreampetal Florist is a weak card, I'm just saying that the impact when you play it is minimal with a payoff later in the form of a combo or tempo swing. In that sense, it's comparable to Silver Vanguard, which sees play only in the hopes of getting its deathrattle on a more reasonably stated minion because the 3/3 body is so incredibly weak.
Druid has so much good stuff today, and is gaining even more with Boomsday, but some of these pieces don't fit together nicely. For instance, if you're running Flobbidinous Floop for combo purposes, you may not want to run Oaken Summons to avoid losing out of the Floop value. But that means losing a lot of armor and a consistent 3/6 taunt on 4, which is a major part of early game stabilization in Druid. These are the kinds of trade-offs people are going to be deciding on, and it's very possible that Dreampetal Florist, a very good card in its own right, won't see a ton of play because of the relative power level of other options in Druid right now.
But that's the thing. Florist makes Floop pretty much obsolete since it's much faster. You can now put Oaken back into the deck. A 7 mana 4/4 is not much different from a 6 mana 4/4 in form of Auctioneer. The point is that you play it when you are not in any immediate danger and then win next turn. You're acting like you'd desperately play this on curve no matter the board state. Obvously you're gonna wait until you're controlling the board. This is not a quick combo against aggro, this is a late game combo against control.
I do not mean to suggest that you'd always just blindly play this on turn 7, but I don't think it's enough to just say "well, I'd play something else," because if you draw Dreampetal Florist instead of an anti-aggro tool at precisely the moment you need an anti-aggro tool, you'll be kicking yourself over your combo setup. And that's the kind of trade-off you're making here - do you want the risk of top decking something that won't be useful, or do you just play some other cards that will activate your combo a little more slowly? Given the high number of options in Druid today, the meta is going to be a major determining factor in whether or not a 7 mana 4/4 is playable.
This strikes me as the major problem with your argument. You've recognized that this is a slow combo, but you disregard a new, objectively powerful card (Floop) because you may be able to make the King Togwaggle/Azalina Soulthief combo faster. This is fine if the meta remains very slow. But that combo is designed to go off when your deck is empty, speeding it up in exchange for a weak play against aggro will be the wrong trade-off if there's lots of aggro in the meta. On the other hand, a copy of Flobbidinous Floop can turn into a powered up version of Saronite Chain Gang against aggro and be a combo activator for Malygos or Togwaggle/Azalina combos in the late game against control.
That flexibility may be very important. Just because Dreampetal Florist is a very powerful card doesn't mean it will see play. Druid has tons of good cards, and this card is not so broken that it will fit into every meta nicely. That is my point.
So basically with one tick from Dreampetal Florist on either King Togwaggle or Azalina Soulthief you can do the combo in one turn without wild support from Aviana and Kun the Forgotten King. Three card combo in druid - no problemo considering the armour gain it have currently.
Hey I didn't think of that.
I think this would surely make the Togwaggle combo viable! So many druid archetypes are going to be available, that's insane.
what's the point of floop? It fuck's up oaken sommons defensive part and you need not him at all for combo. Just a waste of slot. Also double florist is kinda bad.
I agree with not2fast2. I also don't think that Psychmelon is the right fit. At best it's a draw 2 for 4, which is underwhelming in Druid. I get that it also tutors but you want to draw most of your deck anyway before you play the combo. It would be different if you were tutoring for Maly. Also seems like you probably want 2 Naturalizes.
But yeah. I'm already getting PTSD.
Druidstone
Can't wait to get the new expansion of my favourite online card game, Druidstone - Heroes of Malfurioncraft!
Another strong card delivered to Druids by Team Druid.. I mean Team 5.
2 mana malygos....
Blizzard hasnt learned crap from... well, anything in the past 5 years.
OTK decks ruin the game because they're neither fun nor interactive to play against? Who gives a shit!
Druid is the dominating class? Oh, let's make 2-3 more broken cards that fit right in.
Drakkari Enchanter
Why make Malygos cost 2 when you can make him cost 0 ? :)
No, do you remember jade idol? It took one expansion for a counter be released (skulking geist) and it wasn't a good counter, so.. I'm a little afraid with what is going to happen in this expansion with this tons of broken cards for druid
even if there was no malygosh this card is totaly broken 4/4 for 0 mana? just wtf and how is it not a battlecry just bullshit this card
I smell mecha'thun memes incoming
otk meta will be fun
