Fun-looking card, but it seems damn near impossible to use properly. The conditions stop it from comboing well with stuff like Deathwing, and the 10 mana cost really limits your options to kill it off in the same turn even if you have a way of killing it and running out of cards at the same time. What's really a shame is that the 10/10 stats are actually more of a problem than a benefit; if it was a 10/1 or something, you could at least pull of some more straightforward tricks with 0-cost spells on the same turn.
It'd be so much more usable (not good, just usable) if the conditions were just a little looser. They'd just one restriction (remove one of the three hand/board/deck conditions or make it a battlecry rather than a deathrattle). In its current state, you'd be bending over backwards so far to use it that just dealing 30 damage to the enemy hero seems way more straightforward.
Check out some of my decks... There are a lot of combos to OTK even with those restrictions ;)
Does anyone know how Deathwing will work? Does the deathrattle from Mecha'thun resolve after Deathwing? Because the card says destroy and discard your hand. If the deathrattle works after Deathwing resolves both its effects, then you can combo them for a OTK even if your hand was full using druid and twig (while having an empty deck).
Deathwing would still be alive on the battlefield thus deactivating Mecha'thun's deathrattle.
You're right. Sad thing, deathwing is still cool and should be used in something like this. Thanks for the headsup, i overlooked a big detail on deathwing.
Cataclysm does do exactly what you were looking for though. Unfortunately it is locked to only one class.
I got an idea:
Playing as druid get a Twig of the World Tree to 1 durability and draw your whole deck
Now play Mecha'thun, hit with your hero and play a Voodoo Doll on your Mecha'thun, use a Mark of the Lotus now play a Wild Pyromancer, cast Astral Communion and finally cast Excess Mana to win the game.
This version is one of the worst combos ever but it's a nice meme
I will try this
I got similar idea utilizing floop, wild pyro, astral communion, living roots, coin/innervate/bio project https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1146836-mechathun-spicy-and-flashy-otk
And it requires exactly 10 mana...
All this hassle just to get rid of hand on the same turn - which is the most problematic part of all conditions because you need to play clunky cards like Plague, UI in order to have somewhat decent chance of survival vs midrange/aggro
Warlock can do it in same turn now
Also I feel like druid is the most competitive version so far
Thus far we have:
1. Warlock: Deck with Hemet where Mecha'Thun and Cataclysm are the only cards costing more than 3. Hard part? Needing Mecha'thun to survive a turn (Silence = gg).
2. Druid: Can kill it on turn played (Innervate + Naturalise), can tutor for it (Psychemelon) and can reduce its cost if necessary (Gnome Druid). Hard part? Getting rid of the library. Hemet helps, but you'll have to survive a handful of turns before you can play the combo because you have to run Branching Paths etc to survive.
3. Rogue: Empty library? No problem. Tricky part? Avoiding overdrawing Mecha-thun. Hard part? Everything else.
4. Warrior: Empty library? Play fatigue. Kill? Execute/Brawl last card and hope for RNG. Hard part? Needing it to survive unsilenced for a turn, just like Warlock, but probably doesn't matter because you're Mecha-Boom and you win in Fatigue anyway - silence not useful because you have a 10/10!
5. Priest: Can die the turn played if Reckless Experimenter is in play - otherwise wait a turn holding Shadow Word: Death. It died? Bring it back! Hard part? Empty library and hand, and killing the Experimenter the turn you play Mecha-thun (it has 4 attack, after all, so using a Shadow Word with the mana you saved when playing Mecha-thun for 7 while ensuring it's demise isn't possible without further setup). Most likely is resurrect and kill with Shadow Word: Death in same turn.
6. Shaman: Make a copy of it with Eureka! Opponent will panic and waste his removal. Win with Shudderwock or Malygos.
Winner? Decks not playing Mecha-thun. This is either a sleeper card that will 'come online' in a future expansion, or it's unplayble in a serious deck.
Cataclysm :)
I really want this to work but it may not. The card text says "Destroy all minions. Discard your hand." That is two effects in one card. We know that when two effects are combined in one card, the first one stated is gonna go first. (Think about why Ferocious Howl can upgrade the Lesser Jasper Spellstone it draws) That means Cataclysm destroys Mecha'thun before it discards your hand. So Mecha'thun's deathrattle won't trigger unless Cataclysm is the last card in your hand.
Edit: Never mind, it works :)
Does Cataclysm work properly tho? Yes it does

Couldn't you just run Mecha'thun reduced by 2 from the effects of Galvanizer and use Bloodbloom with Cataclysm to play it all in one turn?
Yes, you totally can
How do you plan to survive till the end of your deck? At least 4 out of 30 cards will be unplayable for OTK combo...
Everyone is forget about Eureka! + Mecha'thun and everyone thinks it only works on Druid, Rogue or Shaman.it seems they designed Eureka! for Mecha'thun, not for Malygos.Well, it works good with all big minions, ok.
that actually does not really work, because eureka won't remove mecha'thun from hand and you need an empty hand for it to work. I am more interested by myra's element mecha'thun rogue for a way to make this work.
Rogue can even use its new weapon toativatethe deathrattle on the turn you playmecha'thunso that there is no way to stop it.Oops forgot that does not kill the minion so the wepon fails. It is definitely a meme card and a meme deck, but It just might work.Maybe priest could pull it off too using pyro northshire draw combos. Maybe priest can even set up to use spellstone to summon this radiant elemental pyro and northshire, then dump a hand of cheap spells drawing thier whole deck, and find a way to destroy this and their other minions, I got to see how possible that is. Or perhaps instead twilights call is a good way to pull it off. I am pretty sure the card won't be competetive, but there are all sorts of cool combos that I bet people could pull off that I don't see specifically being talked about.
I wish eureka worked, but I don't see any good way to remove the actual card from your hand efter eureka.
Edit: Corrected an error and have been thinking about it and druid might work, using innervate naturalize to kill of the mecha'thun and having crazy card draw. The problem is emptying hand at the end because you will have very expensive cards sometimes and maybe you just die, otherwise druid might be even better because it has great tools for surviving until the combo.
oh sorry for misleading. I did not check Eureka! before i made this comment. I don't know why but I remembered Eureka! like Ancestor's Call. Sorry. :D
Also resurrect mechanics works well with Mecha'thun if you make your opponent destroy it. Of course you need a normal control Priest deck with Mecha'thun for that, not one which build around Mecha'thun.
Seem to forget that activating his Deathrattle through the weapon unfortunately doesn’t work either, because he is a minion on the board, so funny enough, he prevents it from going off. A lot of people suggest play dead as well, but that is also inhibited, however the draw engine you suggested is certainly a good way to go, especially with resurrecting!
1. Explore Un'Goro
2. Skulking Geist
3. ???
4. Mecha C'thun
