Sure, you can compete with only one deck, that's pretty boring though.
If everyone had access to the entire wild collection, I am sure the mode would be a lot more popular. Keep in mind that when standard was introduced, a large majority of people dusted their entire wild collection without even thinking about it.
Some of them regret doing so.
I love how in this expansion, a card with high mana cost and poor stats becomes possibly viable due to being a mech. I think this could easily see play if a certain card comes out to compliment it, perhaps it's been shown and we need to play it to see the connection. Who knows.
Looking at hearthstone historic and other “taking damage based cards” I would say this card just won’t see play (maybe arena)
Could have said Hogger, Doom of Elwynn, because Acolyte of Pain is Meta Defining.
Our dear Acolyte doesn’t even need to be mentioned... Card draw is powerful in like 95% of the time... I can’t even name a bad card draw without searching in collection
What have they done to you Hogger, Doom of Elwynn ?
Weak to silence
Are you one of those guys who puts this on EVERY non battlecry minion at EVERY reveal season ?
Dies to removal
Not much players doesn’t mean nobody cares
Security Rover is a tough card to judge. You can assume the Rover will take at least one hit in most games, so it's sort of a 6 mana 4/8 at minimum. I think the right comparison here is Gemstudded Golem. If you can get a couple of taunts out of Security Rover to protect it for a turn, you can magnetize it with something like Beryllium Nullifier or Zilliax, you'll have a very sturdy anti-aggro tool. But you have to start with a minion that's very understated, and lacks taunt. (If you're Dr. Boom when he comes down, Rover will have rush and you'll get some taunt, but since Dr. Boom comes down after the Rover on the curve, that won't be something you can count on.) So, if you can't get those synergies, you'll probably just be happier running Gemstudded Golem.
That said, if we see some cheaper magnetic neutral or Warrior minions, Security Rover will be a real contender for constructed play. Yes, Beryllium Nullifier comes down on curve right after this, but neither are all that powerful on their own, and Security Rover needs to stick to the board for a turn to magnetize it or its taunts. You're probably always happy to get this card from a discover (either from Dr. Boom, Mad Genius' hero power or Omega Assembly), but I'm not sure it's a card you run in your deck. Maybe in a very aggressive meta alongside a whirlwind effect, but I think bigger minions like Gemstudded Golem will be preferable in those cases, and you can always do wacky mech/magnetic things with Security Rover after you discover it from Dr. Boom in the late game.
Meh.
*Mech.
Do not forget that this 2/5 and 2/3s can have rush with Dr. Boom, Mad Genius
This is one of those cards that stands on that thin line of being bad or way to good. You make this 5 mana and its to powerful. Any warrior running this can get at least two tokens from this which equals 6/11 or 6/10 in stats which ain’t really good enough for Standard. This thing will get stupid in Arena sometimes tho.
Many folks seem to have forgotten that magnetic is a thing now. This card + Beryllium Nullifier can cause some potential trouble for your opponent especially if the warrior played the whirlwind weapon on turn 4 or 5 (if everything is played on curve).
This card is too fair. And that is the reason why it won't see play. In order to compete, you need to do something every turn. and turn 6 2/5 minion with an abbility that might not go off is fair. Not powerfull.
It's more of a control / play with rush after [card]Dr. Boom, Mad Genius[/card] / combine with [card]Replicating Menace[/card] as a 5/6 with rush / get at least a 2/3 taunt on your turn and opponent's turn / combine with [card]Beryllium Nullifier[/card] next turn if it lives kinda card.
Wow the tool for creating a link to the card is garbage.
It obviously has it's synergies and I'm not denying that. I'm just saying that as a standalone with potentially good effect, It can easily be silenced or ignored to push face damage in order to kill you. While some new archetypes will appear, I think that Odd decks will still be a thing. And we shall see if Mech Warrior with all this support is going to be able to compete against them.(And if this card is going to be included in competitive lists)
