Decent cards but probably won't see much play in Wild.
Evolved Kobold has seen play back then in freeze mage.
This is straight up better.
Both cards are utter trash. Not even playable compared to what other classes got. A 4 mana 4/3 with spell damage plus 2 takes easily 7-8 mana of a turn to get any value. Having 3 health easily dies to every classes weapon and other 4 mana minions. Mage will be tier 3 once again this meta.
Shooting Star is literally just a worse arcane explosion. It can hit less targets, costs the same, amount, I don't understand why people are pretending this card will be anywhere near playable. People keep comparing it to arcane missiles, but it's only played in tempo mage cause it does face damage, can hit the same target multiple times and buffs your mana wyrm.
Arcane Explosion is 2 mana. Shooting Star is 1 mana. Pretty huge difference.
it does not cost the same, if u dont know the game well enough dont flood ur meaningless flaming here
Still not even playable. What does 1 damage do to 3 minions adjacent? absolutely nothing.
True, but to be fair, the 'Science' that Mage has seems to be sort of an Astronomy feeling, so maybe a bit better on the flavor than it feels.
kinda disappointed. this is a science/mech expansion. A card called Shooting Star should be a star holding a massive gun and blowing people away.
Finally, a fairly stated Spell Damage +2.
With the elemental tag will definitely see play. And may make Arcane Explosion playable.
A 4 mana 4/3 is not good as s 4 drop
No, but if you compare it to other Spell Damage +2 minions, you'll see it's stated better than the rest of them for its cost.
I was thinking some more about this card and the cards that have been announced so far for mage and i think that a mid range freeze mage with blizzard and frost nova for stalling vs agro (just theorycrafting here, maybe we could be adding some more idk) and Unexpected Results with and spell damage stuff and burn could turn out nicely. Maybe we are going to have add some more sustain and Counterspell to prevent board clears. The question is, can we fit all of this in a deck and have enough card draw to win consistently (aka crossing our fingers we aren't playing vs druid or other classes with strong armor or hp gain). Maybe even a quest mage deck with an alternative win condition could pop up (like giant quest mage, i almost got legend with that). Overall even if it doesn't pave the way for one of those decks, you can just slap this in on an elemental deck and call it a day. Overall a really high potential card with a lot of synergies and great value.
3 health is really really bad unfortunately, mage minions are too easy/cheap to trade into. 3/4 would be so so much better
Well yeah, clearly, but that would be far too strong. Previous +2 spell damages have been Evolved Kobold, Jungle Moonkin (whose effect is symmetrical and yet it is still slightly understatted), Spellweaver, and Darkmire Moonkin. These all have massively worse stats than this card, which is by far the most competitively statted +2 spell damage we've yet seen. It's not only well-statted for the effect, it's cheap enough that there is serious potential for some very powerful burn mage combo finishers here.
A lot of mage cards are really that blue. Maybe it is even possible to build a deck just with those :v
Cosmic Anomaly should be Rare. So blue...
While having a cool artwork, I'm not really excited about the 4/3 guy, but he can be really useful if you discover him with Servant of Kalimos while having a good spell generated from Lesser Ruby Spellstone. but otherwise the other 2/1 Elemental seems better.
Shooting Star can be a real help for non-Big Spell control decks, works excellent with spell damage, can help on getting a ping from the DK, and on its own its very good against Odd Paladin.
Shooting Star is literally just a worse arcane explosion. It can hit less targets, costs the same, amount, I don't understand why people are pretending this card will be anywhere near playable.
It might be just right, though. Other Spell Damage +2 minions have not really seen play (I know, except oldschool freeze mage for a little while.) Any cards that depend on others to be strong will often fail you.
The best fit for this guy is probably aggro freeze in wild along with Ice Block, Forgotten Torch and Ice Lance for some good stall and scary burn finishes.
