The Deck
This time we take a closer look at Deathrattle Hunter. Although it makes only 7% of all Hunter decks right now on ladder, I believe it is a great deck to climb to Legend with.
Your best matchup is by far the Control Warrior (80 %+) and the worst one is Odd Paladin, which should clearly tell you that this deck prefers to play against slow opponents in general. There is one weird exception in Control Priest, which is also a very bad matchup which is caused by Psychic Scream itself.

Man this deck was one of THE BEST decks that ever entered the meta. I loved this deck as much as I loved the version with charged devilsaur and king krush to krush the enemy...
My list is hybrid. Kathrena is too slow for what I'm trying to do, which is have enough board presence to beat Paladin/Zoo while still beating control. Fungalmancer is a far stronger card, and the key to my list is having enough presence to use him. My list also beats mirror.
Close, I don't play Kathrena, it's a bad slow card. I don't play Keleseth which is inconsistent and doesn't make sense because you shouldn't be hard mulliganing for a 2 drop, you should be hard mulliganing for eggs and stalkers (or ways to draw them).
>I don't play Kathrena, it's a bad slow card
Do you not own it? lol... Kathrena is one of the strongest stand alone cards in the entire game. Your list is wrong
This deck is worse than Charged Devilsaur + King Krush version.
Not necessarily, they play out differently in different matchups. The egg version is faster and a lot stickier (and sticky boards are a pain for control decks that just want to clear. If they don't clear, you can get a lot of value from cube and play dead).
The oozeling version has a lot more burst and gets bigger threats out more consistently, but later. Im my experience, the bigger threats are overkill if you can't kill them with the burst, and it comes out too late against aggro, not to mention it gives control more time to draw into answers like silence and polymorph. I much prefer the really wide, sticky, and earlier boards of the egg version
Maybe if you're playing at rank 10 or something lmao
I reached legend with it yesterday...
I think usual cheap midrange deck is better then this.
Overall it is kinda dissapointing that some decks are just always efficient, no matter what patch it is. Not only midrange hunter. Like zoolock was popular in Naxx and it is still good archetype, aggro paladin wrecks everything since Mysterious Challenger and taunt druid and big druid is the same ramp druid from the past with a slightly different win condition.
The fact that some decks are evergreens is because of certain strong classic cards that will always be around. Druids will always have Wild Growth and Nourish so ramp will always be a thing. Warlocks will always have draw as a hero power so they can always have a deck that pops out cheap minions without worrying about running out of cards in hand. And Miracle Rogue is almost entirely classic cards so that will also always be around in some form.
Very draw dependent (tracking helps a lot there), but man, can it build walls and threats stupendously fast. I'm convinced this is better than the Oozeling version. Although that version has more burst, this can just develop so much more, and much earlier as well.
Got to legend with it! My first time getting legend in standard!
I went 7-2, beating two odd paladins, three evens warlocks, an odd rogue, and a mirror.
Nice man!
Who were those two who beat you?
Thank you!
It was a maly druid and one even warlock. Maly druid stalled me many turns with spreading plagues and lots of removal, it was a really nice game and he played super well, he totally deserved the win. Even warlock is a tough matchup, and even though I beat more of them than I lost to, I'm guessing it's generally an unfavourable matchup; you REALLY need that early game hunter's mark and candleshot.
This deck starts a little slow but the turn 8-9 have so much power/ mana cheats. i like to play this deck with cubes, cube+play dead on any minion is absolutely diabolical
Been playing this deck since day 1 of witchwood meta and still nobody else has figured out the version I play which is better than this. This is the closest to it yet though.
maybe you met Stan in ranked match and you inspired him to create another deck?
Let me Guess: you also play mossy horror
No need to sound this condescending mate; keep it light here.
ah now i know why everyone is playing this deck LUL
