@tomnov: what I'm curious about is targeted spells, does the second cast hit the same target or a random one?
I would assume same target as it doesn't say random, but we shall see.
i think these new mechanics are interesting, i am not saying they are good or bad just yet, but they are definitely interesting.
magnetic: i think this might work out if they make the right mechs, and magnetic, but i think if it were to ever not work than it would be because it is to hard to moniter every mech with every magnetic, and so they might print by accident a OP combo.
project: projects are just trash. there. that is as plain as i can put it, they are very bad and here is why, so with the example we are given, "biology project" we see both players getting the exact same reward, but you have to pay something, and your opponent does not. now one might argue that you have built a deck that was made to use this mana to the best advantage, you planed for this and your opponent did not. and while that might be true, mana is mana, and your opponent will use it. but spending a card, and a manna, to give your opponent benefit. please, this is just bad.
omega projects: this is an interesting mechanic and could be good if they do it right, they have to make just the right cards for this for it to work. i think this will work similar to echo, where you can play it early for a fair early game effect, or later for a fair late game effect. and if you think that getting a 4 mana 12/6 with taunt is an amazing effect, you are orely mistaken. getting a 1 mana 10/10 matters less on turn 1o, because by turn 10 your opponent might have a very large board, or a siphon soul. this is why kun the forgotten king was bad, because he might be a 0 mana 7/7, but only on turn 110 makes him bad.
so in the end these mechanics could work out if they do it right, but they have to be careful, because doing this wrong could result in a poor expansion, and another poor meta.
Biology Project in particular seems really good to me, actually. Considering this is Druid, chances are that you will get a lot more bang for your buck by having a lot of mana than the opposition. The possibility of turn 1 Wild Growth is also very real as the Crystals aren't empty (which means you can use them ASAP).
Of course Druid will need some more decent 2-drops for a Big Stuff deck besides Wild Growth and without those this'll be pretty mediocre, but the potential is definitely there. Also lets Hand Druid be at 6 cards and 4 mana turn 2 using Witchwood Apple, which could be relevant.
Not sure why people downvoted you - I agree with your other points but Biology Project at the very least is an Innervate. Innervate sees play in Togwaggle Druid in wild, and I'm pretty sure Biology Project is an upgrade because it has a second effect that will likely turn into Druid's favor.
Edit: Maybe not. Innervate can be played after UI for huge tempo, so maybe Biology Project will not see play, but it's an interesting card nonetheless.
They've shown new cards in trailer already, and expansion will be live lesser than in a month. I like this new feature!
There's not such a thing as a stealing in TCG/CCG. Everything is just pretty much derivated from MtG.
Yep, when I heard magnetic I immediately thought of Soul Bond in MtG.
I initially thought of bestow. However, I don't think it will be that good. That was probably my favourite tcg mechanic ever!
Union was also a type of monsters in yu-gi-oh that can be played as equip cards to others. Its nothing new.
I actually wouldn't mind the cosmetic stuff being locked behind a paywall if they made F2P a little more viable.
its true i just log in everyday to complete a quest and leave like nothing is interesting even after latest expansion
I'm Agree, even, if Jaraxxus keeps being a purchaseble hero i prefer no mor exclusive heroes. I hate the idea to make it exclusive for that shortly time, who really likes it, but can't pay the preorder (cause need pay in other things in his/her life), will lose it.
Hearthstone is one of , if not the best, F2P friendly games on the market. F2P is extremely viable.
Gotta quit being Veruka Salt bro.
you understand that he is not complaining about pack but the limited Jaraxxus Hero, rigth?,
I think the point is that it's difficult for a new player to be f2p.
Damn, a major cash grab that i need to contemplate. I've been out of the loop lately and actually missed the first monthly card back I ever have since I started playing years ago, I get so bored after the first month of new expansions, I don't really know how streamers can play the same game every single day. I think I'll wait to see the cards and then I'll make my decision, of course if the cards look good then I'll quickly get back into the game and buy the 80$ bundle, even though that is a bit much. Otherwise, I might just continue to not play the game because I'm not even going to bother trying to f2p. I think the only expansion I haven't bought since I started a couple years back is Gadgetzan, only because there was no card back offer. 80$ just seems like such a cash grab, sure I've read all the garbage people will go through to defend it, yes I understand a golden legendary is ok, yet 20 packs may be better. It's just painful to see Hearthstone become so money-hungry, I like how they have been adding free adventures alongside the card pack releases, yet the adventures have little to no reward. The good ol' days of Naxx, Blackrock, etc. will obviously never return. I was hoping they would alternate between adventure releases and card pack releases but once they realized how much money they could make on packs, that was a no-brainer decision. I'm just scared that the cards may actually look to interesting and move me to buy 130$ of packs, I know I shouldn't, but I'm too much of a dummy to do otherwise. I'm a cheap SOB anyways, might as well spend my money on something.
Edit:
The released cards (5 of them) look pretty sweet so far. I knew legendary spells (other than quests) would be released at some point. It's a cool idea that I've been waiting to see, however, it's another method to cash grabbing. I'll break down each card quickly:
Myra's Unstable Element:
Depending on the meta and other cards I think this could be a decent card, definitely hard to say. Obviously top decking it on an empty hand or simply prepping it and digging for lethal are the reasons why I see potential for it. Pretty cool card, seems like it will see play.
Electra Stormsurge:
Like I said earlier, I've been out of the loop and can't think of too many shaman spells atm. Of course board clears like lightning storm and volcano come to mind, maybe even a double healing rain, but there were surely be more Shaman spells released, so this card definitely has potential. Obvious downside being its not an ongoing effect, so you cant drop it turn 3 or coin it turn 2 like you could with Fandral to force out an answer, forcing the card to be slow.
Biology Project:
Someone may or may not correct me on this, if someone even reads this far, but I believe the mana crystals will not be empty, so this is basically innervate but it screws you over. Already read a comment saying this is similar to the new Aviana, since your opponent takes full advantage of it firsts. I really don't see it being playable, possibly, but it's highly unlikely. There are definitely some matchups where you could get more value than your opponent does, but it seems a bit far-fetched to me.
Omega Defender:
Eh, card looks decent, nothing great to me. It's a stegodon, minus the tribe, unless played with 10 mana, and once the game reaches ten mana, your opponent can typically deal with this. I think it does have some potential in arena to really threaten your opponent if followed up with another strong card, but nothing too special. It could see play in a ramp druid deck, but I just don't think it's good enough.
Spider Bomb:
Now I'm not absolutely sure how this works, but after a bit of reading I see that depending on which side you play it, you can choose whether this triggers or not (has to be with a mech minion, spider bomb attaches to other minion giving it +2 +2, which I believe instantly triggers deathrattle). It's a pretty cool mechanic, but we'll have to wait and see the other mechs.
I'm kind of interested so far, but definitely not sold on 80$ bundle quite yet. Hearthstone has to woo me into it's grasp again, as it has every expansion so far, but this one is different, AND yes I know I can just buy 50$ but I have issues and need JARRAXUS, might even buy both so now you know that I am not mentally sane.
New Edit:
Already bought 80$ bundle xd. Definitely not buying 50$ as well though. I have plenty of dust and gold saved up already, so I'm sure I'll be able to craft most if not all the cards.
Too lazy to grind tho xd
Damn. They stole magnetic from pvz heroes. Theres the exact same card type. Minions that can add onto other minions for effects. Disappointed.
I totally get that it’s really early and there’s only a couple cards out so far, but by the looks of it only the omega card and storm surge arent complete trash from what we’ve been given. I get it, 2/5 cards look good, but 1of those 2 isn’t part of the new idea lot, just another card. Hope the other cards add a lot more synergy for these new ideas.
Helping my opponent feels like a big tempo loss for little overall gain. It’s like playing that Aviana card that makes you and your opponents first minion cost 0. It’d be great if your opponent didn’t go before you, but the fact that they do makes it a waste in too many cases to be playable.
Who wants to draw thier whole hand? Why even make a card like that unless that turn your hand isn’t limited or something additional to not make it a complete waste? Should be more like “gain 10 mana crystals, draw your whole deck. Until the end of this turn, hand size doesn’t matter”. Yeah I get it, that’d be too many cards to even see your hand most likely, but honestly how is this card even a thing? If it’s really supposed to be a “last resort” make it actually useful with a large risk, not a “draw a couple cards and now you’re going to burn all other 15 cards you didn’t draw” (exaggeration compared to when you’d actually play it but you get the point). Could be fun some sort of a toggle exodia meme deck but other than that, utter trash.
Double spell effect battelcry for shaman as if they needed more super powerful battlecries AND elemental at that. It’s pretty good all things considered though. Seems hard to get good value in terms of combining with a decent enough spell until late game from it though.
Magnetics: I have faith there will be a huge boost in mechs, but I need to see how these actually work before hand. It says they can be “played by themselves or attached to a mech” which makes me believe it will be animated almost like a spell on an already existing mech. If they summoned first and then magnified then there could be some knife juggler plays or something but this is doubtful. I see them only being decent with early or late game play flexibility.
Again, it’s early. Acknowledge that for sure and I hope they will really wow us with the other cards and especially legendary cards, but right now, from what I’ve seen I have low expectations and will only probably play the omega minions, maybe a couple selective magnetics and MAYBE like 1 project that happens to give us both draw so maybe I can burn some enemy cards or something. Omega is pretty cool and will make for interesting games, about the other things (to include cost of preorder) seems ridiculous and the magnetic thing I’m on the fence about until I test out how destruction and resurrection of said minion works, how sending it to deck or hand works and how playing it actually works ect.
Do we know anything about the Mecha Jaraxxus? Is it only a skin or does it have a unique hero power?
