A Less Friendly Game of Chess is This Week's Brawl!
Things have gotten a little underhanded at Medivh's Magical Chessboard. Bring 6 unique cards and hide them under the table, they could swing the match in your favor!
Trivia
- This is a brand new brawl!
- The brawl comes to us from the One Night in Karazhan Chess Boss.
- A Friendly Game of Chess was a similar version of this brawl but did not allow for deckbuilding.
- This brawl uses the Wild format so all playable cards can be used.
How it Works
- Build a deck using six cards. No duplicates are allowed.
- You will be given either the White King or Black King. Your health is 20, the heroes are the same.
- Most chess pieces cannot attack normally. They automatically hit minions or heroes that are directly in front of them.
- Your hero power allows you to Discover a chess piece.
- Positioning is key. You'll get the best value if your minions are between his as they will hit two targets instead of one.
- Unlike other versions of Chess we can play, your 6 cards are put into your deck and can help you out!
Discuss this Week's Brawl
Head on over to the discussion thread on our forums for this week's brawl.
And once again Howlfiend --> Treachery --> Walk away, because cool guys don't look at explosions.
This brawl should be more like checkers rather than chess, so we can jump over people and possibly even double jump.
Tested Lord Jaraxxus. Works insane, his hero power just consumes abilities of a couple of queens in worst case while your weapon allows you to SMOrc for 3 damage each turn. And restoring health to 15 works really well.
I think Blizzard may have listened to some of the feedback about this brawl. Now I wrote this post when I played the first chess brawl. In short I thought it was going to be good, but then when I played it, I wasn't as happy as I thought it was going to be. Anyway here's the link to the post I wrote about: Post on First Chess Brawl
Now I'm not saying it was this post that made Blizzard change there mind, but I do think that because people were commenting on how they wanted to see a better brawl (whether that was here or on Reddit), Blizzard may have listened to the players to make this brawl a lot better this time round.
Still if I'm completely wrong about this, I honestly liked the improvement this time round.
Grim Patron could be OP in this brawl lol
Oh thank god Blizzard remembered to disable Hero Cards. (There's even a cute little graphic showing they're banned.)
And hopefully now they've implemented card bans future brawls that would be ruined by certain cards can be tailored accordingly.
Lord Jaraxxus is still a card :P
Jaraxxus is fine for he's not a Hero Card. He's a minion who destroys your hero and takes it's place. As a result, he changes your health. Hero Cards are too powerful because they have really good battlecries, give armor, and have OP hero powers. Jaraxxus just replaces the hero, so you don't get any insane effects the moment you play him, unlike Hero Cards.
If this is chess, playing Deathwing is like turning the board over.
Got the pack easily because opponent had zero idea whats going on... autoconceded next few games, to save few lucky guys from suffering through this monstrosity.
I rarely replay Tavern Brawls, but I've had fun trying different strategies with this one! Nice job, Blizzard!
The only game that I lost (and got steamrolled) was against Armorsmith, Bring It On!, Drywhisker Armorer, Frothing Berserker, Brawl, and Darius Crowley.
Thanks for the card list. This made an easy "one and done"!
Ez GG. Frothing Berzerker 33/2.....
You can use Sea Giant once the board gets massive enough, Good for trade and going face
Well I got lucky to get bunch of queens with discover. And then even discounted couple of them
Doom Sayer carrie
Does Drakkari Enchanter work?
Nope.
Yea, noticed. No exploits really work :/
