Learn to Play Even Shaman in the Post Nerfs Meta with StanCifka
StanCifka is back with another deck guide to teach you how to better yourself at Hearthstone. Today we're playing Even Shaman, a deck making great strides post-nerfs. You can find information on mulligans, card selection, and possible card swaps in the guide.
The Deck
The deck is not doing anything crazy, but instead, it just plays a ton of good cards with big raw power which is great for non-stop annoying control decks and handling the first turns of aggro decks. Thanks to Hagatha the Witch, you can outvalue many control decks even in deep late-game which cannot be said about many decks.

This Deck got me to legend this month ^-^
I removed Lich King (because often time it was over kill), Cult Master, and one Vicious Scalehide for 2 Fire Plum Phoenix and 1 Knife Juggler.
And im not sure about removing second Scalehide for second Juggler... Life gain was not a issue on most matches.
Early tempo did matter a lot.
Also i like to point that Earthen Might was the best card i could get on most matches, just getting your minions outside of board clear helped a lot.
And Grumble plus any other elemental is such a great finisher, loved him. Dont need to get ton of value, turn 6 Fire Elemental, turn 7 Grumble plus Replay Fire Elemental won me a lot a tempo.
Cheers
I found scalehide useful for it's rush when I had flametongue totem or dire wold alpha out. Are the juggles actually worth it?
Fire plume phoenix sounds like a good idea. I'll try taking out the cult master for one of them.
I choose one juggler mostly for Odd Paladin MU, wich was for me the hardest on my climb. They simple make to many 1/1 for you to handle with out board clear cards.
Also vs control match ups (wich represent 80% of my climb) juggler ussually is a threat opponent need to deal with, while scalehide is just a 1/3.
Granted, juggler is on the weak side of the deck... Also Fire Plume Phoenix is really weak compared to the Eel (-2 mana for only -1 attack?). But there are not much better options out there.
My main focus was on getting an edge vs Control Priest, Quest Priest, Big Spell Mage, and Spiteful Druid.
Even Warlock was almost auto win for me (just smorc), and also had a positive WR vs Odd Rogue/Miracle Rogue.
Odd Rogue, I know it's not used in Odd Rogue lists but I'm having success with Captain Greenskin in this deck.
A Wallet Shaman? At last?
also jackie and kibler played a sort of this deck
What's the benefit of getting cheap totems in this deck?
You don't need spell damage since you have no damage dealing spells (untill Hagatha shenanigans) and these are not the best minions to benefit from the healing totem.
There are a number of buffs in the deck that the totems would benefit from. As a minion based deck that's quite important. Trading a totem off with a Flametongue totem or Dire wolf against an opponent's card resource is a small win in the value game.
Plus the guaranteed turn one play is a really big deal.
Turn 3, 2 drop plus totem is really great also.
After that, it is not very important, altho Healing Totem does a LOT for this deck.
Same. I win a few around rank 11 but get ransacked by most other good decks. The cult master sounds good on paper, but as card draw it actually usually just sucks here.
All the best shaman cards are in wild, where I'm almost at rank 2. The hardest matchups there are druids that get plague or burn mages. No faceless, just totemcarver with one windspeaker which acts like old Zoo's PO turn but usually better!
I got to rank 2 with it. Against control you immediately take and leverage the board the best you can. By the mid and late game when they start using their aoe's, you need to start using your elemental synergy to make high tempo plays. Grumble can bounce back kalimos, fire elemental, argent commander, and al'akir for suprise burst damage and "healing" those minions back up after they make a value trade. Lich king is great, because even army of the dead is amazing value, since almost the entire deck consists of minions. Lastly, hagatha is your best friend against control. Every minion you play has additional value, and although some luck is involved, you get a lot of opportunities to find useful spells.
Also don't underestimate the burst damange potential of a corpsetaker and al'akir. With flametongue, earthen might, and dire wolf alpha, you can do a lot of damage in one turn, especially if you also get good spells off hagatha. When that happens, control decks desperately use their resources to get rid of your board, which you can try to take advantage of in follow up plays.
Use Earthen Might to put your minion outside of board clear range. Like making a 0/2 golem into a 2/4 minion does wonder vs Duskbreaker.
Also, dont feel bad about just playing totem and pass when you already have a good board. They have to use boardclear to remove your minion plus 2 totem, eventually they will run out of boardclears.
Finally, Hagatha can outvalue control decks, i won lots of matches vs Quest Priest, control Priest, and Big Spell Mages by just going into fatigue.
Double post, sorry ;/
I decided to go for Captain Greenskin because it was the only legendary I was missing for Rogue Decks. Thanks o/
what rogue deck
Kingsbane I hope :P
(even that would be questionable of a craft, but if it was anything else then rip 1.6k)
gnomish is a good Sandbinder replacement in case u drawn all ur elementals (in truth its because i dont have the dust for it lol) Hagatha is insane for clearing a token board that has out tempoed u like odd pally and gives u a great depth if ur opponent regained health combo her with Grumble so u can put a minion at a time for a spell each time is great against those anti aggro slow decks
You should try to write a strategy guide for rank 15. :)
Which one should I craft? Grumble, Worldshaker or Kalimos, Primal Lord? I have dust for only one.
Grumble without a doubt, staple in Shudderwock decks.
but really, there are better legendaries than those two to craft :P
