Quote from DaxxarriThe Monster Hunt has begun!
The Monster Hunt is The Witchwood’s new free, single-player mission content.
You’ll take on the role of one of four veteran monster hunters who are venturing deep into the Witchwood on Hagatha’s trail. Each of these heroes (or anti-heroes as the case may be!) has their own favorite tricks—a special hero power or ability that you’ll need to master if you hope to survive the hunt. Each time you go on a Monster Hunt, you’ll attempt to defeat a series of up to eight monstrous bosses. With each victory, you’ll build a stronger and stronger deck with the items you find—though if you should fall, you’ll have to begin your hunt again with a fresh deck. The trail ahead won’t be easy—the forest is full of fiendish foes! Each hunter also carries a grudge against a particular foe they’ve crossed paths with before—a nemesis, if you will. These are unique bosses that only that hunter can track down to fight.
You’ll want to go on a Monster Hunt with all four heroes because each offers a quest that, if completed, will earn you a The Witchwood card pack! Each quest completed will unlock the next quest in the series, but hunt swiftly—these quests are only available for a limited time*. If you can complete the Monster Hunt with all four hunters, you’ll finally have a chance to face off with the source of the evil in the Witchwood: Hagatha!
If you can defeat Hagatha with the power of all four heroes combined, and free the wood from her vile curse, you’ll earn the gratitude of Gilneas and the Monster Hunter card back!
Tess, Darius, Shaw, and Toki aren’t the only ones with an interest in the Witchwood! Learn more about each of them and the other dreadful denizens of the Witchwood in the Mysterious Missives series:
The Monster Hunt awaits! We’ll see you on the trail!
I'm just not lucky in cards that I get :/ I've gotten sticky fingers but never any control cards just aggro. I just fought Gnomenapper with Houndmaster Shaw and could never get any control of the board because of his hero power and the spell " fill your board with gnomes".
So much work for just a cardback...

First 5-6 bosses are easy, until you get to bosses with way too broken cards/combos (-3 cost to all cards in hand, fill board with gnomes, etc), and even if you miraculously manage to have the solution at hand, you just left the board empty surviving, and they do it all over again, and it´s GG. You can´t come back 2-3 times because no pack offers aoe spells... And rarely spells for that matters. It´s mostly just minions and minions and more minions that rarely affect the board when played. Feels easy early on because you have a bunch of win-more stuff, but it becomes absurd at the last boss or previous-to-last when you have absolutely no solutions in your deck, because you were NEVER offered one to begin with.
It is fun to try tho, some cards are very unique, some fights very interesting, but I feel like the Hero Power buffs are almost mandatory.
PD: does Cannon guy has any way to get more cannons? Most cards talk about those in plural but you only have one.
Grizzled Reinforcement
Yes, he does. A 4 mana 4/5 minion with battlecry that invokes another cannon for you!
Cleared first try with Tess, and the hardest boss was the second one, the boss that does one damage per card drawn. Kinda tough when you only start with 15 life. He ended up missing lethal (would have died on my turn by drawing a card, but AI missed this and did minion trades instead of face). I won by killing the boss when they drew a card. Couldn’t be closer.
Final bosses were cake. Dunno, sounds like they balanced the difficulty across the bosses this time.
Cleared it on the first try with Tess. All eight fights were reasonably close, with the earlier fights seeming harder and the latter fights more fair than what I generally felt on Dungeon Runs. Hopefully the other three will be just as much fun.
The feel of this sht being completely unfair is permanent
Easy, already got my cardback.
> Gets The Whisperer while playing Tess.
> Looks at Hero Power.
> Use my Hero Power to get a rock.
> Plays rock 50 times.
I did that with Toki and Arcane Missiles. (had the -1 spell cost treasure)
Seem a bit easier than the dung, though
Watching the monster hunt video with Dave kosac really makes me miss Ben brode even more... Dave is not so good at this stuff.
You know what's wierd, so with the dungeon runs, all the bosses use the cardback you get from winning the dungeon run, but in the monster hunt all the bosses use the card back you get from pre releasing, not the cardback you get from the monster hunt. I wonder why.
Probably because the theme of the cardbacks are different. In the dungeons, the treasures and the "ultimate treasures" (the candles) was in the possession of the kobolds, which you steal from them. In the Witchwood, the cardback gives you the feeling of "you don't know what lurks behind that tree". Also, they didn't do any monster hunt for the Monster hunter cardback.
IMO, monster hunt is waaaaay more fun than dungeon run. The new hero powers and the treasures that synergize with them are so cool.
