Shudderwock and Lifedrinker Battlecry Animation Update
It looks like Blizzard will be updating the Animation for Shudderwock and Lifedrinker in a future update.
Quote from Jesse Hill Recently, our players have had feedback regarding the Shaman card, Shudderwock. We understand that the length of its Battlecry animation and other animations spawned from its Battlecry can be frustrating.
In a future update, we will be doubling the animation speed of Shudderwock’s Battlecry so it will lessen the impact on the overall pacing of your current Hearthstone match. In addition, the amount of Battlecries Shudderwock can reproduce will be capped at 20.
We will also be speeding up the animation of Lifedrinker for similar reasons.
Thank you for your feedback, and we’ll see you in the Tavern.
Cheers!
Hooray! No more hour long games if you don't concede fast enough! That is when you do face a random Shudderwock deck in the sea of paladins.
"capped at 20" This is a nerf, right? So .. full dust?
Yes it is a nerf, but I don't think it is significant enough to warrant full dust. But only time will tell.
Well, to cast 20 battlecries, you need 20 cards with battlecry, almost full deck. So no, it's not a nerf.
Could be true if the second Shudderwock didn't cast the battlecries of the previous Shudderwock.
It’s a buff, you’re able to play more shudderwock on the second turn, while the cap does not change anything. It’s not enough to make it good though
And? OTK deck uses 11 cards with battlecry (but it really requires 3). Still plenty of space for Shudderwock battlecries.
Shudderwock - repeat all other battlecries from cards you played this game. If u want Shudderwock with 20 battlecries then you need to play 20 cards with battlecry. So your deck need at least 20 cards with battlecry. And you need to play them first. 20 cards?Without draws or Grumbles help you will do it in 18 turns (if u draw only battlecry cards). It's not reliable even in fun decks. And OTK decks use max. 14 battlecry cards (but technically they need 3). Hope I explained this.
Shudderwock battlecry counts as single battlecry. Lets say you played 2 battlecries and shudderwock (bc1, bc2, shud(bc1,bc2)), then you played 2nd shudderwock (shud(bc1, bc2, shud(bc1,bc2))) - 3 battlecries, not 4 or 5.
Again - it's not.
If u use Brann or murmuring elemental then Shudderwock battlecries are separate, like Yogg. Yogg is capped at 30, but with Brann it's capped at 60. And new Shudderwock doesn't copy Branns copy of battlecry. So if u play Brann then (bc1, (bc1)), then Shudderwock (shudd(bc1), (shudd(bc1))). You played 2 battlecies (bc1 and shudd one) and still have 18 free space.
In OTK deck with 14 bcs, if u play all of them, Shudderwock casts 14 bcs. Next Shudderwock casts 15 bcs (14 + shudd one), next one 16 bcs (14 + 2 shudds) etc. You have space for 6 Shudderwocks (and in OTK u need in most cases 2 or 3)
Link me a post where blizz confirmed this, because I can't find it (probably because it not exist).
And do you know why 20 battlecries instead 25 or 30? Probably nobody played 20 battlecries anyway so they thought it's safe number.
Because there is HysteriA and Toast ;)
Just stability issues. Avoiding some infinity loops, weird interactions etc.
Yogg has 30 spells cap. Without spell generators you need 29 spells and coin (hard to accomplish then and after yogg nerf impossible)
Defile has 14 ticks cap
Bouncing blade has 80 ticks cap
Tess probably doesn't have cap, but I think they will add it eventually.
I am glad about the animation.
But only Blizzard would nerf a card that drives a tier 4 deck, two weeks into an expansion, while not dealing with Paladin x 3, Cubelock, and Quest Rogue. They are so fucking clueless.
This is not a balance change (which they should do, but I digress.) This is a fix to what is ostensibly a bug in the sense that it was unintended to be that long (and Blizzard seems to dislike overly long games).
It is because they need all the games with Shudderwock to be finished before they can apply the patch...
