Upcoming Hearthstone Arena Hotfixes for Thursday, April 19
A round of hotfixes are incoming to Hearthstone this Thursday and focus on the Arena experience. Changes to card buckets, appearance rates by rarity, and below average card appearance rates.
Quote from Jesse HillIn an upcoming hotfix currently targeted for release on Thursday, April 19 (PDT), we will be making the following changes to the Arena:
- Adjusted the buckets for certain cards so that they appear alongside cards of a similar power level, mostly from The Witchwood and Kobolds and Catacombs.
- Lowered the appearance rate of Rare cards slightly and raised the appearance rate of Basic/Common cards slightly. Epic and Legendary cards should appear at the same rate.
- Very slightly raised the appearance rate of below average cards.
These changes should adjust the overall power level of Arena so that it feels like the choices players are making in their drafting decisions are more meaningful.
Our goal is to continue making improvements to the Arena as needed and communicate these changes to our players as they are implemented.
Thank you for your continued feedback.
I don't get why everyone plays a mode where you can't just build an aggro Paladin deck for easy wins 😓
anyone want to watch benbrode talking? https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2018/04/video-ben-brode-dishes-on-the-secrets-of-hearthstone
I will see how it work in kripp stream. To see how much it affect arena rng.
Bullshit deck , bullshit rng , crazy topdeck~kripp
Same here. Certainly is cheaper than trying it out yourself. Because no joke, that is exactly what my last 5 Arena runs were all about. Opponents who play constructed decks or no weak cards in the first half of their deck, sometimes with incredible synergies, opponents who get insane random cards, opponents who draw lethal or the one answer to turn the game around, three or four times on the last turn before I otherwise would have won.
And I know, Kripp likes to exaggerate a little when he says "constructed in Arena" but this really happend: I lost against a Hunter who played, in order, Wandering Monster, Animal Companion, Flanking Strike, Eaglehorn Bow and Savannah Highmane. At that point I was already so far behind that I had no interest in seeing the rest of his deck.
I'm glad they noticed Arena is not exactly balanced right now. But I will wait and see how other people are doing with the hotfix before I try again.
To be fair, even if the only cards in arena were vanilla 1/1s, 2/2s and 3/3s Kripp would still find a way to complain about BS RNG.
I wish they started to state the exact numbers. This "slightly" lowered or incresed is quite meaningless.
As a programmer who has worked extensively with weighted randomization / probabilities, if they gave you the exact numbers, you probably would think they're way too low even if they were actually pretty high when taken in context, a context that only they can see and which it's unreasonable to ask them for since it's complex and massive. Sometimes, they may be able to give a relative idea like "about twice as often" but such phrasing isn't always feasible when tweaking the knobs.
They use the appropriate language for a children's card game.
Will this end current arena runs and give a free arena ticket for those effected?
They didnt last time, and it was a problem.
Will Arena continue to be Constructed Lite? Let's find out tomorrow!
