Dean Ayala on Shudderwock: Revisiting the Topic Early Next Week
Dean Ayala tweeted this evening that the team is going to be looking into Shudderwock feedback early next week.
How do you feel about Shudderwock? I can definitely agree with the animations being a bit on the long side and would definitely at least appreciate a less excruciating death.
Quote from Dean AyalaWe’ll be reading more feedback over the weekend and will revisit the Shudderwock topic early next week. Checking out both animation timings and feedback on the deck playstyle itself. Let us know what you think and enjoy Witchwood!
MY thoughts exactly!
Shaman deserves some good cards at least... it is actually not broken at all, I've lost many games with it, there are more decks to play, you cant defeat everyone. Still depend on draw and order and luck and many variables.
But yeah, shorten animations, or speed them up or something and all is good!
Too consistent? It has, like a <40% winrate right now. The only thing consistent about it is that it consistently loses to aggro decks.
Definitely agree, the combo is in no Broken. But still in blizzards books will get nerfed due to it's no counter play OTK status, if anything that saronite chain gang would balance the card.
changing chain-gang dosn't really work because you just switch it out for faceless manipulator and the combo starts to work again?
Honestly, there's a limit. I think the problem is Grumble, Worldshaker. I think it should reduce the cost of cards returned by 2 rather than making them all cost 1.
I don't know that nerfing Grumble will definitely help; i feel like people will just find something else stupid to abuse with shudderwock
yeah faceless would be random, not a problem on an empty board or if you load up 3xfaceless battlecry with some aoe? when claws triggers twice, good chance you are getting at least one back and the second rotation you get a bunch back,
will give you it makes it more random but it dosn't stop it, but seems people maybe done calling for nerfs on this card
Animation Fix
Cube cost up to 6
Arcane Golem now with Rush ability
Patches is back in charge in Wild
Animation delay. That's the issue.
Long animations...Shudderwock to 10 mana...Murmuring Elemental to 3 or 4 mana... Won't totally kill the deck but at least slow down more...
hmmm so they see a problem. so the question is, will it be Nerfed in 3 mounts like The Caverns Below or in a year like Patches the Pirate. any way im crafting the broken thing! :)
dude the deck is so bad. nothing close to even nerfed quest rogue or non ice block quest mage
ye just started plying the new expansion(was on vacation) im rank 2 and i see nothing but cube locks and odd pali.
I'd love it to be cheaper but with a much weaker effect. Never been a fan of OTK.
IMO Shudderwock is problem itself. I am not a fan of OTK decks, but i understand people who enjoy it. BUT, generally OTK deck requies you to assemble big combo (or complete huge quest as part of otk combination) but Shudderwock do not. You dont need to keep cards you need for combination, but you just play them "normally" and gain their effects to survive. Order does not matter, time you played it does not matter, you just need to feed up controllable(!) Yogg to end the game. Thats not right.
Second thing - is limiting design space for battlecryes for next 2 years because of Shudderwock. You just cant now print copying bcs, damage bcs or any sort of fun and interesting battlecry not just for shaman, but in netural cards too. This is not okay too.
So... possible solution i think is to make Shudderwock repeat battlecryes played on previous turn only(excluding his own ofc), so shamans need to assemble way more hard possible combination what will possibly requie play grumble and "some cards" in right time, to replay that cards on turn before shudderwock. This is kinda sketchy, but will leave possible OTK shaman a thing, make it more interactive, and will make combo more hard and challenging to achieve.
P.S. Long animation is also problem tho.
The deck gives up a lot for the otk. It doesn’t require player to keep the combo pieces in hand, but these combo pieces are all pretty mediocre and terrible tempo cards, not run in any other deck. That is why the deck gets destroyed by all aggro/midrange decks (same as any other combo decks). And I don’t think the comparison with jade is appropriate. Jade idol was a single card that you could place in any druid deck and would completely shut down any fatigue/long game oriented decks. For Shudderwock to do the same, you need to build the entire deck around it. I’m a control player myself, but it is good to have combo decks that counter control in the meta - as long as there is some room for control to try to rush down the opponent before he assembles the combo (which I think is totally true for Shudderwock decks).
I'm on the "animation issue" train. It's a strong OTK, but it takes a while to achieve. I've played the deck, and I've played against the deck. Sometimes you manage to get the combo together and win; sometimes you manage to win without the combo. For me, the worst part is to sit there for a long time, whether I'm on the giving or receiving end, waiting for all the battlecry animations to end.
If we can play against Cube Warlock for four months (and now, it seems, another four), we can play against Battlecry Shaman. However, I do hope the wins/loss' with this deck are quickened so we can get into that next match of climbing the ladder.
