Dean Ayala on Shudderwock: Revisiting the Topic Early Next Week
Dean Ayala tweeted this evening that the team is going to be looking into Shudderwock feedback early next week.
How do you feel about Shudderwock? I can definitely agree with the animations being a bit on the long side and would definitely at least appreciate a less excruciating death.
Quote from Dean AyalaWe’ll be reading more feedback over the weekend and will revisit the Shudderwock topic early next week. Checking out both animation timings and feedback on the deck playstyle itself. Let us know what you think and enjoy Witchwood!
Bytheway, to anyone who's pointing at it's winrate to say Shudderwock is not too strong: He requires a very specific deck, and we're only on day 3 of the expansion. Many players probably just crafted Shudderwock and are losing games because they don't have the right support cards and don't know how to play the deck.
Just take a wild guess what his winrate will be in a month from now. Edit: Have a look at all pro players go 100-0 with this deck to help you make the right guess.
2014, everyone on Hearthpwn: This freakin Dr. Boom, u seein this shit?? A 7/7 minion and 2 boom bots for just 7 mana? BLIZZ Y U NO NERF?
2018, everyone on Hearthpwn: Oh, Shudderwock? That thing which does basically anything you want while filling your hand with free copies of itself and basically wins games on its own? Naaah definitely not op, just kill him before turn 9.
It doesn't win games on its own anymore than Antonidas does for Mage. Hell, Antonidas is more powerful on its own without specific combo.
Antonidas doesn't win games on it's own. You need a complete setup in your hand and play it all in the same turn.
For Shudderwock you can just play stuff on their own, then drop him whenever you feel like it.
Shudderwock feels neither fun nor interactive unless your idea of fun is troll players with 10 minute long turns
You can concede to stop the 10 minute long turns if you know you aren't gonna win.
Please fix the animation time, But DONT AXE THE SHUDDERWOCK!!!
Soooooo...would Shudderwock be nerfed? Worth crafting it right now?
At least blizzard is finally listening early in the expansion, druid-stone in KoFT took them forever to fix.
I really don't understand how that is in any way fun to play against. It's encouraging aggro and even then it's a race to kill before the combo. To me, the Shudderwock player is just trying to stall the game to get the one thing that will make him win. it really doesn't feel like skill more as just stall till I get the cards I need.
The deck is not interactive, the only way to beat the opponent is to smorc them down fast enough. And as a result almost no other control decks nor any other variant of shaman can see play because of it. Feelsbadman.
42% winrate and you want a nerf? Get real. Change the animations so it doesn't take so long and allow concedes. Pally needs the nerf.
There are some variants of the deck that are a much higher winrate then that, such as DisguisedToast’s version.
42% based on statistics from last meta? toast already got legend playing this deck and claimed 90% win rate
Just because one individual got a 90% win rate doesn't mean the deck itself can't have a much lower win rate overall. Varience/skill and all that.
I would imagine the low score has a lot to do with people just net decking it and not knowing how to play it correctly. I'm sure the number will get higher when people stop playing it and other people start getting better at using the deck.
everyone claims whatever they want man, everyone gets giddy and excited when they see him and let him win lets be real
sounds like quest mage to me.
I guess we miss a conbo-deck breaking card like Dirty Rat
Guys stop being so dramatic. The deck is awful but really funny. I've been on both sides, doing the combo and losing to the combo, and yeah takes a lot of time (something that could be fixed by just computing all the animations into one faster and dealing the same damage and effect), but there's absolutely no need for nerfs. Less than a week ago everyone was talking about how bad the cards were and how bad and meme this expansion would be, calling it Dust wood and shit. And here we are, less than a week after release and people are begging to nerf a meme deck from a meme expansion. Seriously sometimes it's hard to understand people.
