Dean Ayala on Shudderwock: Revisiting the Topic Early Next Week
Dean Ayala tweeted this evening that the team is going to be looking into Shudderwock feedback early next week.
How do you feel about Shudderwock? I can definitely agree with the animations being a bit on the long side and would definitely at least appreciate a less excruciating death.
Quote from Dean AyalaWe’ll be reading more feedback over the weekend and will revisit the Shudderwock topic early next week. Checking out both animation timings and feedback on the deck playstyle itself. Let us know what you think and enjoy Witchwood!
Long animation - its more global hearthstone problem. I so long waiting an option, to turn off animation at all, and i really hoping they will add this someday
that wouldn't work, imagine one player having it disabled and the other not...
That would probably not be an issue at all, it would just mean your opponent takes longer for their turn. Have you ever played hearthstone with a friend in the same room? The game isn't actually totally synced between clients, one player seeing animations wouldn't stop the other player from being shown them.
You wrong. I saw one pirate's patch (but more appropriate word "cheat"), that make animation for you way faster. And this only for you, the second player see this as normal. And if fucking pirates can make this, blizzard can make same thing way better.
Honestly, I don't think it's that meta-breaking yet. I mean, Cubelock can face you with three charge 5/7s as early as turn 6 - that's meta-breaking, and it did dominate the previous meta.
Just speed up the animations, people can already kill Shudderwock Shaman before it does its combo anyway.
yeah. even nerfed quest rogue gets their combo way quicker, and start bashing you with 5/5 chargers. i think shudderwock is a counter to super greedy control decks, which is great. forces them to make less greedy deck building decisions instead of going for obvious greed and anti aggro cards. but quest mage, quest rogue quest warrior, raza priest, cubelock, jade druid, control lock, were/are all way more oppressive to a much larger amount of decks than shudderwock is.
Imo Quest Mage was much slower to get to its combo than this one, but I agree with your point in general :)
Most likely they will just speed up the animation. Perhaps the game will check if you are dead after animation and if yes it stops playing, like how they did with UI.
Except it is hard countered by aggro.
I'm confused, what exactly do they have to talk about? Brode himself already mentioned "oh god, we need to fix this" when he saw two devs playing with it and Grumble together but they couldn't because "too late, too close to patch day".
Oh for the days when Blizzard operated on "when it's done".
lmao. this doesn't need nerf. warlock has been way more repressive all last expansion. raza priest before that. even quest rogue, quest mage, quest warrior in their prime were better. even kingsbane mill rogue was harder to kill than this deck
There is no reason to nerf the deck itself, it is slow and reliant on a lot of cards to pull off the combo. The issue is the animations, and the fact that if someone doesn't pull the damaging parts of the combo they can stall the game for as long as they want with animation spam just out of spite.
I played three games and went 3-0 with it and had to stop because I felt dirty and because it took an hour to play 3 games. The card is toxic to the enjoyment of the game and It absolutely needs a nerf.
Change it from "Battlecry: Repeat all other Battlecries you played this game" to "When you play this card, repeat all Battlecries you played this game" that would stop the double battlecry of Murmuring Elemental affecting the Shudderwock and the endless stacking with copies of itself created by Grumble and Saronite Chain Gang.
And yes I also would like to see a fix to the animation so it would only include cards that actually do something. Cards that would draw other cards but don't actually draw anything can be skipped.
=D13=
It has zero counterplay. There's no silences, no anti-battlecries, no defensive measures that prevent it (oh sorry, Warlocks can sudden betrayal them the discard hound and pray to Jesus they knock out the Grummle or the Shudderwock, hahahahahaha), only SMASH FACE BEFORE DIE TURN AND MAYBE WIN, and chipping down their deck 80% made up of answers designed to stall you is basically impossible for any control or midrange deck, or anything fun.
So what, I just can't play any deck that doesn't pull off Turn 6 lethal?
That's lame as hell. I will forever disagree with it.
It's not about pulling off a turn 6 lethal, it's about killing them either before turn 9 or before they draw their Shudderwock, which most aggro/mid decks can do.
What you're complaining about is that it kills control decks, which just lets us have a variety of viable decks that counter each other and not a meta dominated by, say, Cubelock.
meat wagon with summoning portal and gnomferatu + new echo warlock legendary most of the time stop the deck to work cause it need so many card to pull off the combo. The deck will have flaw. Its only 2 days into the expansion and people just havent figure it out yet.
You can. You do realize you can't have 100% winrate in hs, right? You also should know that shamans are not 100% of ladder, in fact i havent faced a single one for the past 2 hours. If they will be so dominant - aggro will rise to counter them, it is already happening actually. People are overreacting as usual. "Omg op deck in the 1st days of expansion, i dont like to lose vs it, pls nerf!!!!". Wait a few days first.
