That does sound appealing tjo, too bad it would mean that double silences would be standard teching.
So maybe we can get that buffy, midrangy life gain Paladin? I'd love that deck to work :D
Truth be told though, this card will probably abused in Aggro ;)
I honestly dont think an aggro deck would want a better tar creeper?
Yes and no. Some Aggro Pala decklists ran Dirty Rat (mostly for combo disruption or free taunt from Call to Arms vs other aggro). As much as this card seems slow for aggro decks, they do run Dire Wolf Alpha and Fungalmancer, so this would actually provide them with one thing Aggro Paladins don't have - minor sustain.
I'm not sure if I'd run it in aggro, but I'd love to play that card!
I love this! This is what paladin has been missing. Good heal+body that is dependant on buffing sounds nice.
Blessing maul proc. One of the several pala buffs. Funglemancer. So many!
Paladin in HS hasn't had that "Holy Paladin feel" from Warcraft. This is the kind of card I've been waiting for.
Turn 3 this and Turn 4 Kings and you have some value. People will keep this in mind and will have to waste a removal or silence.
I don't really think it's a "waste" of a silence when you just used two cards on this and they just silence it with a spellbreaker. You just spent 7 mana and 2 cards for a 2/5, and the opponent spent 4 mana and 1 card for a 4/3.
shouldve also had a health option for divine shield with 6 health.
Mhm, mhm, and it should have also had rush at 5 attack, and windfury at 7, obviously.
Don't get me wrong, this is a pretty good card and i very much like it.
But i've read a handful of comments all saying this is something incredible with buffs, like a 5/5 for 4 mana with the +3 buff. All those people seem to have forgotten that Wickerflame Burnbristle already exist and is basically exactly this card, but with the effect already active, and divine shield instead of 3 health. If 2 heatlh + divine shield is weaker than 5 health against very small minions and pings, it is generally better in midgame with medium-sized minions (think 2 murlocs buffed by Murloc Warleader, 2 zoolock minions even like just 2 Blood Imp) and is also strictly better against a big drop. These pros and cons of each statline make the 2 cards on the same powerlevel IF Paragon of Light had the effect right away, which in fact makes burnbristle the best card. So all those buff shenanigans were all already possible with Wickerflame Burnbristle and control paladin is not even playing it anymore, and he has never proved to be hella broken with lots of buffs anyway, not even mentioning all those handbuffs that are here now and are going away.
So don't count on setting up a really big Paragon of Light, it will mostly just be played to be slightly buffed early and get a already bigass enough taunt on turn 3, 5 or 5. Even a simple tick of Sword of Justice makes it a Water Elemental DK-ed with thaunt for 3 mana which is insane in early game.
Maybe this card is printed solely because Wickerflame Burnbristle rotates out, and they wanted a similar but still somewhat different card to take its place for control paladins. Blizzard has printed a ton of cards with similar effects to other cards that are rotating out. It doesn't necessarily need to be just as good, but I'm sure this card could fit in a few control decks, if control paladin ever becomes a thing again. Maybe even in quest paladin, because you'd need to buff your minions anyway.
Divine shield on a minion is usually worth 2 point of stats. You can clearly see it when you compare Lord of the Arena ans Sunwalker or Voidwalker and Righteous Protector.
If you look at Wickerflame Burnbristle it's comparable to a 3 mana 2/4 lifesteal
Paragon of Light on the other hand has more stats buf conditional effect. This is way better than wickerflame for buffing porpuses becase it puts premium stats in advance that needs to be removed, while for Wickerflame, a ping, removes half the body and was played standalone.
This card is waaaaaaaaaay better than Wickerflame Burnbristle, not even close.
I am sure that you remember cards like: Meanstreet Marshal or Fight Promoter . In general they never seen play, except temporary in buff paladin. But buff paladin is going to wild, so I don't think that buff stuff will be something soon. Paladin neither need lifesteal for healing, so I doubt that someone will carry such unreliable way of healing. In general no one carry unreliable cards in constructed, but in Arena it will be even harder to find atack buff.
Op op op
That is a very good translation - I didn't catch the original text.
As a master translator, can you please explain to me what the hell these "n/" things mean? That's by far the weirdest part of his comment.
Maybe it's about the hunter's 3/3 wolves? This card at 3 attack is a good counter to them.
I don't know, that's the best I could make of it.
